I honestly don't know, but I hope it's something that keeps happening, haha. Actually going to go pick one up after work today so I have a Goku to put Ginyu Goku's face on. At least Target's site actually tells me where he'll be so I don't have to hunt, lmao.
You'd have to ask Target, as they're the ones who decided to start carrying the figure, or Bluefin, the distributor. I kind of doubt that Bluefin would actually give out info regarding the number of units available, but yeah it's entirely possible that the figure was overproduced & Target suddenly decided to make a deal. Years ago, Toys R Us started carrying SHFs (I believe it was Shinken Red/Gold and WWE Rock/Steve Austin at first) because they made a deal with Bandai/Bluefin to sell them at US retail. They didn't sell very well, but TRU started carrying a few more here & there, and then Barnes & Noble booksellers started carrying them, and still do to this day. This specific version of Goku probably made the most sense to Target. It's the default version of one of the most iconic anime characters in history, and it was always intended to be a low-priced SHF when it was originally released in Japan. Maybe Target thinks it'll sell well enough alongside the Dragon Stars figures (I'm assuming the price is somewhere around the original $35 but I haven't actually seen one in-store) and they could be using it as a test to see if there's enough demand to carry other figures.
Would be a great means of pushing out the Best Selection figures into the public, that's for sure, since their original move to appeal to the Olympics crowd became a non-starter. And yes, Goku is still $35. S.H. Figurarts Son Goku A Saiyan Raised On Earth Action Figure
My sh figuarts injustice superman finally arrived. For me the figure is great. I don't mind the plastic cape just like the dasin saitama (sh figuarts body kun mold) And Finally. Clash of the plastic capes!!! Saitama vs superman Upload only one pic. Don't want to upset anybody. 3 more weeks and I will be free from lockdown then go back home to Italy finally. Hey, does SHF plan to continue with the Street Fighter line? With only 5 more to go, it would be devastating if they didn't.
September in Japan, then however long it takes to ship it over to the US; usually a month later than the Japanese release or so for the US release to happen.
I hope that's not the final product since it doesn't release until the 29th in Japan. Definitely would be very disappointing considering what they've shown off on displays and it being the reason I decided to go for it even though I got the JL one.
Received this two today... Incredibly amazing how they made Eva-01, it seems a little bit weak because of the little pieces and details but I totally recommend it. Full of accessories and fun to play with!. Goku Kaioken for me is the best "transformation", even more then Super Saiyan!.
If you're going to spend $35 on Goku anyway, buy it from a small business that sells toys, not a major retailer that couldn't care less about collectors.
I always buy my SHF on a small business since years, I love my local store of my neighborhood. The prices are insanely low.
And success! Just happened to get to Target today and got the second to last Goku! Managed to kill 2 birds with 1 stone as I also needed to pick up some Philips Hue lights (moving from LIFX as a part of a room renovation i'm starting soon) and a new MicroSD for my Switch (just got Breath of the Wild and have NO space, haha). Now I can sit pretty till Jeice comes out.
I was at my local Target a little bit ago and thought to look for SHF Goku. They actually had several of them there, to my surprise. I didn’t buy him since I’m not into DB, but it was nice to see them on the shelf!
