That's not all that makes it G1. It also had to be created before G2. That's how generations work. The newer stuff like IDW may take some inspiration from G1, but it is not G1.

 

Nah. If they can't get the original voice they should have someone develop a new take on it.

 

The lowest low of this show's voice acting is the knock-off voices trying too hard. I would prefer they swing in the other direction and do all-new voices.

 

Blame Netflix for not bringing back Peter and Frank. Peter Cullen didn't sound too happy in a recent interview about Netflix.

 

Megatron alludes to his gladiatorial career and that the Decepticons rose to conquer their oppressors. This is a direct hint to his IDW background been used in this show as well. He also spits at Prime been chosen as a leader because of the matrix for the same reason.

Both Prime and Magnus also try to chastise him, for turning from the noble path. Another IDW hint.

So in the end Megatron as in IDW forged a army of the downtrodden and essentially rampaged on Cybertron on a flag of revolution which attempted to overthrow the system, murdered Alpha-Trion and tried to twist this revolt into a means for him to conquer the planet.

Optimus was given/chosen by the matrix (presumably after Trion died) and tries to keep Megatron from occupying the planet due to his ideals.

I will say it again: This show is not made for the casual fan (ironic, since daily it draws in people who had nothing to do with transformers, which is a huge win/win), but mostly for people who have some kind of background knowledge on the various g1 timelines.

This entire series is a mash up though. So far it has used mostly the best or best suitable takes of each character.

That makes it Neo-G1, which pretty much started with Dreamwave.

These characters aren't based on those toys, though. They're based on Neo-G1 toys.

Neo-G1 - which needs to be distinguished from Vintage-G1. And we need to be clear that IDW 2.0 is Neo-G1. IDW 1.0 is no more Neo-G1 than Cyberverse is.

 

that's a hot take: I thought it suffered from a lot of EXACTLY the same problems, largely related to the pacing, ambiguous storytelling and an over reliance on exposition (telling instead of showing): although Godzilla had much better animation and mind bendingly better voice acting (mind you, the voice acting still wasn't that great, but Siege's was REALY bad)

yeah, I rember when CBR was a legit site, I went on there for the first time in maybe 5 years recently and couldn't believe the level of clickbait nonsense.

 

Both were shit for almost exactly the same reasons.

 

Can anyone please tell me why on the official trailer on the hasbro youtube channel it refers to the Siege I can't Believe it's NOT Mashiittiima Product as an "Anime"?

Genuinely scratching my head over that, so any reasoning you can come up, please explain.......... it's marketing sure... but WHY?
