yeah... this article is pretty ignorant and does not take into account the context of the product.

First, even at 12k units, that is a very low production for Hasbro. That is going to drive the cost up a bit. No mention of the previous starwars crowdfunding which was $400 and a lot less complicated. Second, this thing is huge. Over 20 lbs of plastic, iirc. Third, the interview with Mark (Sr Graphic designer working on the instructions) where he says it takes 50 min to transform doesn't really take into account how big this and that being so big it is going to take more time because you have to move 20+ lbs of plastic around just to reach the next panel to move nor is there any mention the Takara transformation video of the resin prototype from couple months ago where the designer transformed it, iirc, in around 20 min and they said they were being extra careful because it was fragile. Forth, there is no real comparison to vintage G1 diaclone era toys that had at most 10 steps. Lastly, and I quote the author, they write, "Most of my recent Transformers purchases are sitting on a shelf too, but it’s mostly because I no longer get any joy from the transforming process". Why are they even writing this article???

Just seems like this article is being written up by someone just finding out about this thing and not someone who has been following it from the beginning.

Guys I heard that some LEGO sets take over an hour to build. Remember when it used to be fun?

I wonder if Unicron will be more or less nerve-wracking than transforming the last few Masterpiece TFs!

When I read the “it takes 50 minutes to convert?!?” Stuff it makes my head hurt. It falls into the “some people just don’t get it and I don’t have the energy to explain it” bucket. Which in 2020 is a big god damn bucket

Should be easier. More room with less tiny pieces with tiny clearances.

Thing is once you get the hang of it, throwing on a podcast and do an hour-long transformation after a long day actually sounds pretty therapeutic to my weird self.

I won't be surprised if someone does a Haslab Unicron Transformation review ASMR video on YouTube haha.

I mean... I'd tune in, provided there was some "What? Why isn't it... oh dammit" and then back tracking.

    Hands gently stroke Unicron's mandibles.

"For a time... time time time time time,
I considered sparing your wretched little planet, Cybertron... tron tron tron tsk tsk tsk.
But now, you shall witness... nss nss nss nss
its dismemberment... dss dss dss dss nnt nnt nnt nnt..."

I'd fall asleep to it, provided the ASMRtist doesn't sound too much like Shrapnel-el-el-el.

Only slightly less disturbing than one of YouTube's mid-roll adverts.

    Soothing crinkles...
    Soft humming...
    Inaudible whispers...

If you have trouble sleeping Seramind may help!
    Gah!

Seriously though that's a common thing going on with that figure, glad that I'm hearing about this before I get it. (saving money right now)

I also drew blood with it lol, tho tbh it’s kinda our faults. If you don’t attache the spikes while transforming him, you’ll be fine. I however was stupid and left the panels with spikes on....

(also dam it why did you comment on asmr Actually make me consider making a channel....)
