Well apart from their QC he's kind of right... Oh and the bit about MP-44's helmet. Takara's helmet is just a bit better.

 

They're NOT the same, at all. I'm not talking about the movie head (and those aren't the same either... they're just modeled on the same source material), I mean the season 1 head... those are VERY different.

You both really mean that doofy season 1 face mask on the MP44 looks better? THe top part, instead of coming to a peak, goes DOWN.

 

I’m inclined to agree. The Mirage really looks amazing in-hand, as does their prime. If it wasn’t for the hip issue, I’m sure this guy would be getting glowing reviews.

I do wish that Speedy had his arm “Gitanes” panel on a ball joint instead of the rivet. It looks like an instant break if there is a fall.

 

An instruction sheet with a contents list would be awesome! I don't like the idea of a QR code leading to a video being the only instructions. Not permanent enough for my collection.

Also, how about a collector's card? Maybe they scrubbed those to speed up production?

 

My copy of TE-03 Mirage is okay so far, even after the hip reassembly, but what's with these plastic issues?
Takara's Hound, DNA's Susanoo (Bludgeon), and things like this? Companies need to make sure the materials can handle their own design and subsequent handling.
If I wanted a model kit, I'd buy one. I thought we were getting Transformers!   

 

I see most of these as the transformers equivalent of a Hot Toys superhero figure. You CAN muck about with a Hot Toys figure, but they aren’t meant to be playthings, rather just a display piece. If you want a plaything, stick to Hasbro Marvel Legends.
Masterpiece and it’s wannabes are the same way. Not meant for adventures. Just a pretty shelf piece. Yes, they can transform, but it’s “transform at your own peril”. If you want a piece to mess with, stick with $20 Hasbro figures. Hound seems to be a production error rather than a miscalculation of choices. The plastic being brittle is a defect in the chemistry of the plastics. For the record, mine still is crack free! Yay!

 

The Datsun bros and the Lambor mold are pretty good to mess with but those are outliers

 

I buy them because I appreciate the engineering. I transform once then shelve it. Just knowing it was designed to go through a bunch of complicated steps and look great in different modes makes me happy.

 

really beautiful model .. i will wait for a reissue or recolor and i will take only one copy ... then the takara will come and it will surely be spectacular. I find this mirage really well done and with a great toonstyle ...

 

Got mine today and did the leg fix. One leg popped right back together. For the other one I couldn't get the white hip piece to pop back in so i had to shave the top corner off the little locking tab. Once I did that it popped right in and everything remained tight. Anyone wanna buy a Sphinx.....real cheap. Lol

 

Which color? I'm looking for the dark blue one.

 

Not sure. I have the first release. Whichever color that is. Full set of Reprolabels installed.

 

You are very lucky. Mine is slowly disintegrating while not being touched...

Got him! 14 days even to get to me in Central Texas. Hip fix completed.

First leg several minutes, including revisiting a video to help. Second leg, less than 2 minutes after figuring it out.

Looks and feels good. For $70, this is great. As we said before, TE go ahead and please make for me a Perceptor and Ultra Magnus, and the requested bots by everyone else.

 

You forgot to folder out the front spoiler for alt mode. I did that the first time too.

 

Ahh I missed the season 1 bit. In that sense they both suck. MP44s S1 helmet is modeld after those Akom eps from S2 actually like City of Steel and Autobot Run. It looks terrible. But TE-01s sorta S1 helmet isn't modeled after anything at all. It's just a bad rendition of Optimus' helmet.

I would really like a good S1 helmet. Like he looked in Heavy Metal War etc.
