I think possibly only the top front section of the blue part opens (i.e. the part shaped exactly like the null ray tip plus the little bit in front of it) rotating on a pin in the pin hole middle upper on the side of the blue part, like a little door to allow the null ray tip in.

Ok I might be being a bit mental here but I think late era Bob Dylan sounds like Starscream. Is it just me?

I'm not deception leader yet.....but I'm getting there.

Yeah, that's probably right! Would definitely explain that little pin hole near there.

    Thanks dude!!

What you waiting for, better days? :)

Will this cheer you up? Some identified F-15 kibble and the wing sandwich positioned. A little bit more I identified to go on and the rest to be approximated. Gonna have a cool transformation I think! :)

Let's see how thick that side profile is.

Exactly as thick as the CAD drawings :)

Those bits dont stick out too far back, but theres something on top of them in the upper middle back. Cant tell how far that sticks out but worst case scenario it's as far back as the wing tips - i.e. you can only just not see it in the CAD side profile.

Wow! So you guys were right on the money then! The tail fins don’t fold up in the legs how everyone envisioned it. But they slide into the back wings. That’s quite cool actually. It means we can have solid tail fins in jet mode with extremely pointy and flat bits, and it means the wings can be cleaned up from the back with that cover part. This figure is going to have an acceptable backpack for ‘those who complain of backpacks’.

stellar work you guys. I’m just adding to the chorus here, but I’m absolutely loving the work you’re all putting in on this. This is the best TF community ever and this is case study no. 1.

It's fascinating to see that CAD blueprint become a full 3D object. You guys are awesome!

Big ups to you Liampope for your work on this. I really don't know how you, Chchchch and Bigcee66 were able to work out so much just from one picture but I definitely appreciate all your efforts guys. Makes the wait for the actual reveal MUCH more bearable. :)

Threw together the other two...so what do you folks think, for a G1 toy seeker redeco, should they use retooled Conehead parts for everything except maybe the head (and wings, depending on which seeker)? Arguably, everything about the Coneheads would be more toy accurate, though I do think the regular MP-52(?) feet would look better than cartoon Conehead feet, and it would be a shame to lose the molded vent detail under the knee as it brings the toy sticker to life in 3D, even though everything else about the Conehead knees would be more spot on to the toy. Or would part of the fun be to see a toy Starscream redeco done using the cartoon Starscream mold, and a toy Ramjet using the cartoon Ramjet mold, etc.?

I fully intend to shade and color these eventually, but feel free to have at it anyway @SelectedLime375! :D

I just thought of something... If the wings and tail fins are 100% separate from the entirety of the robot then they can do all the coneheads perfectly!!! The wings will become much more intricate to reshape and reposition, but now I feel more silly than ever for doubling down on the current Coneheads. They're getting replaced in 5 years or so I bet.

That's true! I really hope they do them as soon as possible, I'm more dissatisfied with the current ones than ever now!

I was wondering what happened to this thread because I wasn't getting any alerts and I came back to this haha. For a G1 toy seeker redeco it should just be the regular MP-52 mold IMO since it's just going to be a redeco/repaint. Normal seekers and conehead seekers should stay distinguishable since I think that's what the G1 toys were going for anyways despite being the same mold. So I think it'd be more fun that way despite the potential of parts-mixing.

I always thought the conehead proportions were really wack. Big arms, kneepads which cover the thighs that make them seem shorter, small feet and protruding chests. How do they compare side-by-side to the Starscream CAD? Maybe that'll help since I'm so used to the Starscream proportions now. Otherwise these look amazing! If this were shared around without an author people would think this was a coneheads leak.
