I know we only had one Commander per year and also I am disappointed that we only had three leaders this year compared to Siege that had four but Astrotrain is just a repack so basically two new leader class this year and that sucks.

 

It's also a great roadtrip song.

 

But you gotta remember that last year we were only supposed to get 3 because Astrotrain was intended for Earthrise

I just found my Fuzor/BlastMaster at a Target on my route this morning!
Still looking for SkyLynx though...
They look amazing together!

 

They honestly do, Skylynx is slightly more Yellow, but they go great together and they are the best Micromasters for me. I got that photo by pulling down Blastmaster's 5mm port in alt-mode and plugging it into Skylynx's.

 

Ah,yes that is true,but I do kinda wish we had more characters for Earthrise.I know there a lot characters that haven't been done or updated yet.Let see what Kingdom would bring since of course it's the last of the WFC Trilogy.

 

Really enjoy Scorpy. Hoping he goes on sale and I'll get one for my boys.

Ankle tilt, ramp that hits the ground, easy transformation. I am happy.


I'm sticking with Maketoys' Black Zarak since I like him smaller than Scorpy.

 

My only issue is the upper hinge on his left arm elbow is too loose to hold his gun up very well and that his right bird foot was somehow put on upside down. Last was an easy fix as the foot just popped off and reattached easy peasy.

 

It’s hard to put into words exactly the magnitude of what this hobby means to me. I’m well aware of the fact that these are just toys, but their therapeutic value is not to be understated. These figures help me take my mind off the madness going on the world. They help me unwind and relax my mind and body. They’re not just toys in that sense, they are also wonderful psychological tools that help me keep my sanity. Along with my loving family, they are something that is mine that makes me happy. Transformers are fun, fiddly, colorful, artful, playful, and helpful. They are overall, put simply, magnificent. Enter Sky Lynx.

Ooohhhh, I can’t tell you how ecstatic I am to own this toy. I’ve always been fascinated by this character. Sky Lynx is one of my favorite post-animated movie Transformers. I love the quirkiness of their personality(ies). The bird being the sophisticated, boorish snob and the cat being the more quiet, yet still fierce, warrior type made for a never-a-dull-moment dichotomy. In spite of his egotistical flourishes, his speed and powerful skills cannot be denied. He is incredibly strong and highly intelligent. Plus, it’d be best to stay on his good side or he may not give you a lift.

Being the main troop transport for the Autobots during Rodimus’ tenure, Sky Lynx transforms into a shuttle and cargo bay combo. This is a completely wacky idea, but Ol’ Commander Modesty pulls it off with style.

The new ER updated shuttle is a gorgeous rendition of the classic NASA spacecraft. So awesome that Hasbro even got licensing rights to use the official NASA logo. Appropriately named “Magnificence,” this ship is loaded with beautiful molded details and paint apps. The gold painted highlights are a staple for Sky Lynx.

I really only have one issue with this entire figure and that’s while it is in shuttle mode. The friction tabs that hold the wings in place are woefully under developed. The tabs are an extension of the bird feet and they really are not long enough to properly support the wings. The slot design on the wings don’t help either as it’s not really a “slot” so much as a ledge for the tab to rest on. When combined, it’s not so bad because the wings are also supported by the cargo pod. But, when you have the shuttle detached, don’t even look at it cross-eyed or the wings will pop out.

The cargo pod is a brick in every sense of the word. But it is a nice looking brick. Loaded with molded details and a brilliant red-n-white-n-blue color scheme, this is the part of Sky Lynx that really does all the heavy lifting. I love that this version actually incorporates a cargo hold for accessories or Micromaster figures, two at the max.

NOTE: Countdown actually doesn’t fit inside Sky Lynx, but he still looks good sitting in the ramp.

So, it might be a very colorful brick, but.....

It turns into an even better looking cat. Lynx mode is just so awesome. It’s just so amazing how he can go from boxy to curvy between the two modes. I love how his headsculpt and shoulders transform to give him those haunches. Speaking of the headsculpt, it is absolutely gorgeous. The gold face and the light blue eyes complement each other nicely.

Capably poseable enough to display a prowling posture. The mouth can open for a nice growling or roaring effect, also reveals the flamethrower in his mouth. The Lynx portion of this figure is really well done.
The avian half of Sky Lynx however.....

is actually pretty damn cool too. This is what I think of when I hear the name Sky Lynx. This bird mode is the best interpretation of this portion of the figure I’ve ever seen, 3rd party stuff included.

I love how expressive this figure can be. The wingspan is impressive and well developed with the ratchet and hinge design. Popping the wing off the mushroom peg has been reported, but it can be avoided with some care taken. His ‘chicken’ legs are more versatile than I thought. With multiple hinges and ratchets, it’s very possible to pose him in really dynamic ways. Don’t be afraid to incorporate his tail, long neck, and wings for balance. This is one figure where all the parts gotta be in sync with each other, but it’s fun trying it.

I think I actually prefer both of them in their separate modes. They both have their own unique looks and feels to them. This is one of the strongest pairings, I believe, in the entire franchise. They look aesthetically wonderful as their separate entities. That’s not to say they don’t work well together in tandem.

So happy that we now have a proper version of Sky Lynx updated in this line. This figure is just awesome. They hook together so cohesively, it’s hard to tell there’s two different bots in there, at least from certain angles. This is a really powerful form both aesthetically and playfully. But, also with this new iteration, Sky Lynx threw us a curveball.

He has an official base mode now. I love him even more for it. This impressive launchpad has a somewhat flimsy support base for the shuttle, but it’s fixable. The ramp actually tabs into the front of the cargo bay and I’ve mistransformed it a bit from the official way to use two of the Lynx legs as support struts for the side of the shuttle. I didn’t have the time or opportunity to show this but there are multiple connection points to hook up other figures using the AIRLOCK system. This alt mode adds loads of playability to an already awesome toy. This Sky Lynx figure is just so much fun and is everything I could’ve wanted out of this toy and character. I think Sky Lynx has definitely earned the right to flex his ego with this beautiful update.

 

One thing to watch out for on the Astro Squad: As with all WfC Micromasters they LOVE shedding limbs, and it's a BITCH getting Blast Master's properly reattached, I had to get my heavy-duty pliers. And if one leg isn't properly in, it interferes with the arm and wing transforming properly--really puts a cramp on a great little minisculpt.
