You have him in hand? Do the joints, waist and shoulder armatures seem improved to you?

The side skirts are moved back so I can show you the tab that isn't working. The other leg tabs in properly.

I never had the first version, which is why I need help.

Regarding the shoulders, is this part solid? The original are weak/fragile and flimsy when you mess around With the arm. Thanks

hmm, oddly enough the dewtoystore (my first transaction with them), the store i preordered darkness from (they don't have him in yet it seems?) now has no listing for the ultra maxmus reissue. was thining of picking him up too if darkness is solid. where are people preordering/ordering the ultra masmux reissue from?

It's really difficult for me to answer questions like that with no prior reference point. Based on the picture, I'm guessing you're asking if it feels like it will snap off? It doesn't feel more tight or brittle than I'd anticipated. If anything, the way the whole shoulder armature wants to flex when I move it makes it feel oddly cushioned compared to figures where the shoulders lock positively onto the side of the cab.

You only get the angled antennae with Darkness Maxmas. You do not get a second set that go straight up.

Thanks for your help! I’m still debating whether to get this figure. After watching some transformation videos I’m fairly certain I’ll never flip him back and forth ever... so is he worth it as a non transformable figure? Part of me says yes haha...

Hows the plastic quality compared to GT OPEX or other GCreations figures? I have Rebel and Fuuma and they feel very substantial. Just worried from early reports that the original Ultra Maxmas had lots of stress marks and loose hips.

I really can't help you with things I have no reference for. I came in here for help myself.

Got a package from Show.Z today, happy to finally have an IDW Prime in hand! QC could have been better, with some slots needing some cutting before tabs would fit properly. Besides this, the overall fit and finish is quite precise.

I don't have the impression (from watching reviews of the first release) the joints are really better on this release.
Overall though, the figure feels really nice, it seems the plastic can take some minor abuse and I actually enjoy the transformation.

Fair warning though - I really liked RotF Prime when it came out and plenty of people were complaining about that transformation...
I guess I like complex transformations... With this figure - if you work patiently and precise-there are not really points of frustration, except perhaps the shin tabs that rotate out to tab into the backsides of the truckcab. You don't have to bother with these as EmgO stated in his review of the firs release, plenty of other tabs to keep stuff in place.

Actually, while I don't have the figures you mentioned to compare to, it seems parts of the plastic used, especially the 'skeleton', can take some flexing. In a way in some places during transformation it is required. The only stress marks I've seen so far are from snipping of excess material from gate marks.

I'll be posing and transforming mine during the coming days, I'll see how it holds up...

Ha yes, I could see why when finally posing it myself..! I've checked out your posts in the past, I appreciate the reminder, thanks!

However, you mentioned the figure can no longer transform with these installed? Pity, as I want to still be able to transform the figure...

that’s correct it’s non-transformable. I couldn’t make it transformable, the shoulder would require shifting parts and hardware I wouldn’t be able to produce.

So I settled for a design that remedy the shoulder articulation in robot mode, but the parts are easily removable (1min. to install or un-install) if you need to transformer to truck mode :)
    Thanks for looking

How is the hip articulation on the figure. Can it do the full splits?

Well, I was already thinking to myself I might order a pair (...of those pieces, just to be clear...), might come in handy if I want to dabble a bit more in photography and have gdw-01 strike some awesome poses...

First I have to worry about moving house, though. I'll let you know.

technically the joints could facilitate it, but the articulation is limited by the torso: IMG_20200812_201746.jpg

    [edit]
...although, if you rotate the hips like the left leg in my earlier post-pose pic(the 'Prime v Menasor' based one) it might be able to...

I forgot..but the waist frame and/or the front skirts (attached to the upper leg) hinder the leg articulation. It’s why I also made a waist add-on too :)

    Now prime can do this....

Does it come with new weapons (sword, axe) like the Taobao listings describe?
