UPDATE: 8/10/2020 I repainted most of the red on the torso piece to be a bit brighter and a little less shiny. Also added in some white bits for a little color break up. And painted all of Inferno's rims white. C+ Customs made some really awesome upgrade kits for Victorion and Defensor. It's a shame we'll never seem them remake the kit for Inferno. I bought the Defensor kit for my Inferno around Christmas with the intention of eventually trying to repaint it. Today I finally took that step. This is my first attempt at repainting. Honestly, I think it turned out pretty OK. I feel like I could have done better if I had maybe chose a day where I didn't have to do anything else, so that I could have worked on it all day. Bust as it stands, I think I got the job done. I just simply brushed on some Anita's All Purpose Acrylic True Red paint. Didn't treat the surface before painting, didn't apply any time of clear coat finisher. Some areas needed a 2nd coat, some didn't. Here's what the kit looks like unpainted. I wanted to start with the Inferno torso. That way if it turned out shitty, it wouldn't be noticeable in combined mode. I thought that turned out pretty good. The red I used is just ever so slightly darker than the red on Inferno, but it perfectly matches the red that was already on the kit. Finished product: And here's a little before and after collage for funsies. I think it turned out well enough that I might try this again later. I've got some 3D printed add-ons that need painted to match.
I thought the same thing. Inferno alone doesn't work...but combined that blue looks pretty sharp. Very G2 vibe without being eye-burning.
I didn't think it looked all that bad either. But I kinda wanted to see what it would be like in Inferno colors more.
The combination of the red and black on the upgrades makes the Inferno combiner head look a lot better. I never like the black face with red helmet look, but it actually goes pretty well with your painted upgrade kit now.
Hey I was of the same mind. Gotta start somewhere. I painted on some junker pieces first to make sure the paint was gonna look alright.
I'm reasonably confident in my painting skills (I very recently became proficient with spray paints) I just don't have the money for the kit, and if I did I'd just use it on my Defensor.
Hell! Where oh where can I buy this kit? I’ve been trying for ages and can’t track any of the C+Customs kits. Oh and awesome! This is exactly why I’ve been trying to get the kits.
I wish I had the answers guys. I bought mine from Robotoybase all the way back in December 2018. I'm not sure he has anymore but it's worth a look.
Sadly that’s one of the places I’ve already check. Thanks mate. Hopefully it’ll be rereleased again or someone makes a copy.
I think the repaint came out great. While the unpainted add on parts break up the red nicely, I feel that it looks too much like Hotspot.
