Sorry if I missed it in the thread, are there any updated photos aside from the front page protos?

All and all , the whole chipped paint dilemma set aside.

The read from this post is loud and clear. They should have perhaps released two versions, one with no gimmicks and one with for the 'premium' customer.

Heck even the one without gimmicks can come with a non functioning ship for fun to save some $$

For me personally, I am their customer base and it seems like many other people are here as well. I can afford to buy this, but id really like 3 of them and the price is just too much to justify this guy, i think they got a bad read perhaps when they were researching.

There is this false sense that these bots can fetch more from their consumer base, but the reality is the last 4 months are of US stimulus money and it will end pretty soon here. Eventually these high prices won't last OR I and others will be more picky on which characters to buy or upgrade/ replace.

I love collecting MPs but if when I started they were all around these newer inflated prices, I would have went with legends scale tbh.

I'll be honest, for just over £100 I might have gone for it and said "sod it" over the amount I felt was overpriced (for my non-usage of the gimmick), but if there's a real chance of customs charges then that goes out the window again.

I'm on the precipice of going with MFT figures and the Quint Pit from Hasbro as a standalone movie scene alongside HasLab Unicron

To counter the point, a toy that has to transform between two modes may not be a suitable comparison to a toy that is relatively static when it comes to paint wear issues.

There's also the fact that the two are manufactured by two entirely different companies and, presumably, in two different factories.

Looks really nice. But at $175, I'm definitely out. Agree with other posters that they should make a budget version without the motor and lights.

Where? Just to clarify, I'm not defending TFSource or XTB. All I've seen is the actual solicitation from XTB about the MSRP of the figure. From what I remember, that pricing thing happened with 01 Studio Cell.

Chip paint happens on a prototype or final product. Your posts make it seems like it's the only issue. As of right now, most people are not good with the MSRP. People will likely be in for this if the price is around $125 (imho).

While I'd like to personally see some changes to the face sculpts, I know if it's this far along, that's not an option. I'm hoping the paint and plastic colors aren't final as with some slight changes, IMO, he would look a lot better overall

It looks like he never points the finger at TFSource for putting the pressure on XTB. I can't recall where that information came from. Anybody here remember the source where we heard that TFSource was the one putting the screws to XTB to force ShowZStore and other overseas sellers to match US prices?

I really do not want budget versions of MPs to become a thing. I got into 3rd party masterpiece back in 2014 because it was a place to get the high end collectibles I am looking for. "Budget version" sounds a lot like "less premium version," or "closer to what you find at Target version."

With this Quintesson release, I am in wait and see mode. I agree that $175 feels a little on the high side, but I want to see what the finished product looks like. I could love it to the point of enjoying forking over $175...or I could grab my pitchfork and torch and join the mob eager to find justice.

For comparisons, when SOC Voltron's price was announced...I thought I was out. Then seeing the finished product in hand...I couldn't get one fast enough. Best $300 I ever spent.

Then there is Transform Element's new Mirage figure. I like it, but now that I have seen it in hand...I realize that it had the potential to be one of the favorite figures in my collection if it had been double the price, with double the hardware, fit and finish, and accessories. I would have gladly paid $175 for this same figure, but with ratchets, perfect QC, premium paint application, some more articulation, and some killer accessories.

This is what I was referring to. Some people are "saying" a certain store was the reason why, but even in @ShowZStore's post, it's pointing over to XTB. There were postings before on the Cell thread about a store asking that pricing be uniform, so that they can compete with resellers in Asia. Not necessarily strong arming the manufacturer.

If people really want the cheapest price, then I suggest buying directly from a reseller in China that can ship to your region.

My opinion is still in agreement with most, that the price is too high.

I was interested in this but I just can't justify why this is worth $140 more than the Hasbro version. I'm just going to get three of the Hasbro versions for $90 total and call it a day.

I was able to find this video that shows the spinning gimmick for the Hasbro release. Judging by the size in this video, it fits my needs for MP scale and looks the part too as far as I am concerned.

You missed my point entirely. My main issue is the price. It is overpriced. Go back and reread my first post in this thread. The chipped paint is adding insult to injury.

Yes, we know about the price issue as many have mentioned. Though, just pointing to a chipped paint on a prototype/test shot, isn't the way to go about it. That's what people are letting you know.
