I just got mine in the mail (unexpectedly quickly from showZ! - my tracking hadn't even seemed to update) so revisited this thread...there is a whole lot about his leg fix that is new to me and it seems some approaches are better/safer than others. Is there a consensus best resource (vid or typed tutorial) to follow?

This is the one I used, took maybe 5 minutes to do both legs. Very Easy.

Yeah the thigh fix is a ballache, putting that round tab back was a bit of a nightmare, it's definently something you need three hands for, my knees are fine my thigh swivel is loose i suspect i might have put the wrong screws in i did notice they were a different size and i didnt pay attention which on went where, i also had to cause a bit of damage to the thighs where i had used a screwdriver to prize them open, only minor chippage i could have avoided it if i had 3 hands

overall i love this guy probably my number 2 after maketoys dirge, i don't mind the blue and i don't mind the chest gap, i mean is it any worst that magnums crappy no side hip skirt? to me it's not

only thing i flat out dislike is blue part on the chest that always comes out every time you move his head, i hope TE make more chracters and i hope they keep a closer eye on there quality control and add a bit more hardware and we could have a real winner here

So I got mine yesterday, and I had both legs backwards. Took the pins out with a pin pusher that is a watchband pin removal tool. It's a small little block with height adjustment on the little table, then you just line up the pin with the pusher and screw it down until it starts pushing it through. It's only useful if the area you're working with can go flat across where the pin pusher aligns, and that's certainly not all the time--but it worked for this one. A little more time to do it by taking the pins out, but so much easier all around taking the hips apart. All assembled properly now :)

I love this figure. I'll be honest that if I already owned Sphinx I probably wouldn't have bought one. That's a combo of Sphinx still holding up well plus the fact that I really don't do duplicates or replacement figures unless there's a massive improvement (and my current model feels super-dated). But I'm also happy I DON'T own Sphinx, because it was a no-brainer to buy this figure with no Mirage in my MP ranks. He just looks cool in both modes, all the articulation, 'shorter' faces are nailed in my opinion. This is absolutely Mirage.

I also appreciate the fact that they not only built in the shoulder launcher to transform into the alt mode, but that they attached it with a screw so if you wanted to fully disarm him, you could totally do that. No desire for that yet, but I like that it makes the piece "optional" in that way.

I do have an issue with his red/blue chest plate--whenever I move the head into a position where I can make it look up and down, it moves that plate along with it. Having his head all the way flat against the body makes him look a little off (having no neck). Was there a trick to locking that piece down that I haven't found?

Both hips on mine, are wrong.

Alt. Head is so tight on the ball that, Im scared to move it.

    Gitanes panels are super loose.

    Scary tight bicep swivel.

Its not a regretted purchase, yet.

Yeah , kinda universal. The gitanes panels can be slide up and down for transform , one side is tighter than other

Yeah, the head on my copy was tight as well. I wanted to swap it for the other head and it was just too tight to remove. I used some RC motor grease (the plastic friendly kind) to get it not only loose, but able to come off to do the swap. Once applied I had no trouble, but yeah that was scary.

EDIT: About the Gitanes shoulder panels--I noticed something. My copy tends to 'click' right in the middle of the channel. When they're like that, THAT'S when they're really loose. If I can click it all the way up or down the channel, they are much better. Maybe everyone check their copy and see if when it's loose, exactly where in the channel the pin is?

If that's been covered and I just got lucky, then never mind. But maybe check yours anyway just in case.

I suppose I'll play around with them.

Also, whats up on the hands? Terrified that im going to break his thumb off, if I remove his blaster. There's no real way to swing them away.

You can swivel the thumb down out of the way. Also, sliding the gitanes panels up in robot mode until they click makes them much tighter and keeps them out of the way of the elbow joint

Yeah, I unscrewed them just a bit. That helped.

Got mines today, left knee came loose before the swapping. Some of the tolerances were annoying like on the spoiler, mines didn't want to slide for anything. Transformation was interesting but personally found it pretty meh overall.

I'm toying with the idea of swapping the waterslide I applied with the next size up after seeing a few pics here. I think it could accommodate it and I was a little cautious the first time around. Removing 'shouldn't' damage the paint...

As long as the plastic was prepped/painted correctly, you should be able to remove it with some tape.
