I’m all for it if they can do it right. The extra member is a compromise I’ll accept if it’s a stable combiner, and none of us want a crazy large razorclaw so it’s extra member or pants!
It’s a big statement being made for a new company which if it’s done right will set their reputation up going ahead

Having to make up an additional member to make a combiner work is CHEATING. Why can’t they have better innovation and engineering to make it work with the original 5 members. Adding a 6th member is just a lazy solution.

But seriously really love landbulls color scheme. Reds and oranges can look to bright when the primary shade is chosen. Would really like to see what combined mode looks like.

 

So what would you suggest instead? One of the following?

1) Have the combined mode be weirdly disproportionate with a small torso and large limbs (like the G1 toy)

2) Make Razorclaw bigger, like a Scramble City leader (but this would go against one of the major distinctive features of the Predacons: that they’re all roughly the same size)

3) Add some extra parts to help the proportions of the combined mode (eg Zeta, FansToys)

4) Make compromises with the individual members in order to aid the combined mode (eg MMC Bruticus, POTP Predaking).

If anything, Cang’s monkey-pants solution is actually the opposite of lazy - it’s a completely unprecedented example of thinking outside the box.

But if you can think of a sixth option then I’m open to suggestions...

CT should invent all Combiners on a new Level. PLUS, as i said before, Hasbro can not shut them down.

CT: No, it is not. Predaking consists of 5 Members. Ours has 6.

Its the opposite of lazy, they've gone to the trouble of designing a full extra figure to integrate into the set.

Personally I'd rather have parts forming pants, there is no combiner of significant scale that doesn't make compromises to avoid parts forming the thighs. You either end up with bad individual members, individuals that need to be massively over-sized to make the combined form work, an under-sized combined form or wonky proportions on the combined mode. Not to mention needing a smaller bots thighs to take the strain of the combined mode.

This is why pants are a good solution. Its not fool proof as you still need to engineer the rest of it properly, Zeta's bruticus for example was far, far too heavy so even the pants had stability issues. Superion was much lighter and performed brilliantly as a result.

I'm intrigued by the 6th member but concerned, it's going to have to hold a heck of a lot of weight and I've yet to be convinced it will perform. Happy to be shown it can be done tho.

 

You keep making this argument and its nonsensical.

Adding a 6th member does not change who the gestalt it, nor does it change who the other 5 members are. Its no different to anything else 3p are doing and doesn't protect Cang in anyway.

No but Fawcet Comics did after the whole Captain Marvel is a copy of superman fiasco. Which is how Marvel ended up with the rights to the name Captain Marvel and DC bought up the character of captain marvel and repurposed it into Shazam (which is an interesting read in and of itself).
And Marvel and DC had fun ripping each other off for ages. But that's not the point here, its the idea that this one extra original character (if it is) somehow prevents Hasbro going after them for all the rest unlike every other 3P offering ever. Its laughable.

Not that hasbro are likely to do anything anyway, unless they really change tactics.

"Stop" your Project.

It is the same if you create a new Cocktail...
You mix a Cocktail, for example
"Sex on the Beach", and add another Ingredient to it, another Taste, and Rename It.

It is still "Sex on the Beach" protected by copyright, but your very own creation, so no one can actually tell you stop mixing it.

And this is how 3P Business works.
Just Change Name and do a massive Design Overhaul of a Figure, even change the Combination itself, then Hasbro is screwed.

The point is you keep harping on about the 6th member being some kind of extra protection above and beyond what every other 3P is doing, which it isn't. The rest is all the usual 3P shenanigans which we all know about.

Truth is we're not sure yet as we've not seen the 6th member or the combined mode in any physical way, but it sounds more involved as they are using a full extra figure instead of a static parts forming piece. Won;t know for sure until they reveal all.
