Really that's interesting, I thought tfsexpress was something to do with fans toys since they usually have figures up at better deals than others from time to time.

I just preorderd one in spite of all the bemoaning this figure is receiving. I absolutely love the figure itself and all the gimics but it's the delicious tears that make it a must have.

Except your conflating two separate issues — whether the production will be chipped because the test shot is chipped and whether XTB is careless with their presentation of test shots.

And asking someone to prove something hasn’t happened is one of the dumbest logical fallacies someone can make — the burden of proof is on you to show other companies don’t do it to prove your point. So, time for you to go find images of every test shot of a 3P figure ever released to validate your claim.

Yeah I was thinking about this too, when someone calls out the actual price, you don’t respond with “We’re still working it out” when you’ve already worked it out with all the retailers.

Either they were being disingenuous about a dollar or 2 ($174.99 at TCP as opposed to $175.99 at other locations) Or they didn’t want to own up to the price because the reaction was so negative.

All they can do now is say “Whoops I guess that WAS the price!”. Or “Hey, we gave retailers the wrong information and now we’ve been in contact to correct the price”

I don’t see any other response coming because obviously the price retailers are using came from XTB.

Your argument is that they're careless with test shots, but will pull it together for the mass produced final product? You're saying they couldn't make one look right, but will make 3000 look flawless? Are you saying the tentacles WON'T be painted? Why are you arguing like you have more information to go off than what's in these photos?

Just to add my voice to the chorus: I was pretty interested in this, but not at £125. I'm not normally someone who's put off by price (barring MP-44, lol) but I can't justify that much for a non-transforming toy. Even if the rotating gimmick is kinda nice, I just wouldn't play with it anywhere near enough to be worth it.

If it goes on sale for like £70, then maybe we'll talk, but that's a hell of a drop from the RRP.

I like the gimmick but once it's in the deltof I ll barely use it.

Same for MP36 electronics. I took him out to dust him recently and actually forgot it had a voice chip!

I hope they do something about the price. XTB have had a good 12 months excl covid etc and this seems a bit of a slap in the face to fans who've supported thier product

They’ll most likely address the issue by either keeping the price and just including an extra “bonus” that costs them 5 cents to make and say “now it’s worth it”. Or they’ll drop it by like, 5 bucks.

Tears? I highly doubt that anyone here is that distressed. I believe the word you were looking for is frustration. I was never buying this...i don't care about anything past season 2. What I am frustrated about is seeing that 3p is now on the TT train of pricing. My hope was that they would not veer into that lane...but it seems as though that is to be their destiny.
Lastly, if the sadness and frustration of others makes you happy...well...it seems you need to do some soul searching about just what kind of person you are. Based on your comments...its not a good one.

    OK ibot,

    Here's the deal...

You KNOW I LOVE THIS Dr. Egg beast.
He really does look amazing, and if all the electronics work as advertised,
it's really going to be a very cool piece to have in one's collection.
That said, $170 retail (USA) is a deal (and back) BREAKER!!!

Now, I will begrudgingly still get ONE of these at a $170 price, if for no other reason...
To support one of my favorite companies.

But as amazing as these look, they are OVERPRICED by at LEAST $25... IF NOT $50.
If these were $125 a piece, I'd probably get THREE of them, especially if boxed together and sold for $350!

PLEASE don't shoot yourselves in the feet (tentacles) by overpricing these.
These are not a MUST HAVE item for most collections...
HOWEVER, if PRICED CORRECTLY, EVERYONE that collects MP's may get 1...

    OR MULTIPLE DR. EGGS!!!

I’m not arguing that at all and nothing I stated could even remotely be reasonably misinterpreted as making an assertion about the quality of the final product.

Don’t strawman what I’ve said; nothing I said even ventures into the territory of making a claim about the final product. Disputing the terrible argument he made about the test shot in no way, shape or form is making a counter declaration about the final production.

I think more that a photographer might have dropped it, or whatever, and either nobody noticed until later (and too late) or they thought it blended in enough not to ruin the images. I highly doubt that the paint on this particular figure is the final nanotech paint (or whatever Tony Stark is making these days), so could easily be just a basic crappy paint that does flake off.

And no, I'm still not prepared to shell out almost the cost of a price-hiked triple changer for an egg that will never use the things that seemingly cost the most money (although as we've seen, the basic stuff can end up in $10 kids toys).

I've actually spent my evening watching football/soccer and checking out Legends figures for posing alongside HasLab Unicron instead. A movie based piece, with Mainline Quints (and Prosecutor, Kranix etc. ...how much will Prosecutor cost when XTB release him!) and Hot Rod, Kup and Dinos to reenact the Pit. Hell, this could even convince me to throw MP out the window and go all in on the little fellas!

Are you serious? comparing this to HotToys r2-d2?

1st. r2-d2 is a much bigger icon than Quintesson Judge.

2nd. HotToys is a better known name than XTB.

3rd. The toys speaks for itself.

    oh dear :lol

the r2 d2 i have is the one they released before the one you have pictured in 2017 it's the force awakens r2 d2 and don't have all the gimmicks apart from light and sounds , the one you pictured is more recent............ anyway my point is i spent that on those so i don't really have a problem with the price! if xtb lower the price even better but as it stands they still have my money

"edit" and anyone that collects hot toys and sideshow figures will tell you that they are not really worth the price charged at all...... and i have spent thousands on them so coming from experience

I mean I take pics of test shots with chipped paint all the time. the final product and everything up until it's released can be VASTLY different.

And that’s pretty much why they won’t lower the prices.

this actually happens all the time. missing, misapplied and sloppy paint on test shots and prototypes are what they are literally for. in most cases, you edit out the dings and scrapes and such, but you can miss them as well. this isn't said in defense of this product, but as a reality of product photography.
