Man, I wish there was a UK retailer. Shipping from China is a mess and shipping from the US gets me charged double after Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs has its pound of flesh.

I’ve never been hit by customs from Show Z purchases (touch wood) or any other kind of issue other than their recent inability to ship large items so I’d recommend them extremely highly.

I’ve bought soo much from China During the pandemic- it’s all little 1/6 scale clothes and accessories- but they’ve all come in a timely manner so I’m hopeful that this guy will arrive without issue.

I use ShowZStore and they're very reliable, but their shipping charges are all over the place now. I checked the shipping on this guy once yesterday and twice today, and it was different each time. The customs issue was exclusively for the US orders, which is why my sentence was phrased the way it was.

Ah yes- US stores aren’t even in my last resorts list because I despise the shipping and customs fees so much.
I ordered a 2nd copy of the big, blue surfing gorilla at the start of the week and I think shipping was just $3 so, if they are fluctuating then just keep an eye on it and buy when it’s reasonable to you. Either that or wait for it to be available through some reliable eBay sellers.

Eh that's the spirit. This is my literal favorite incarnation of Optimus Primal. Not only was it my first TF, but there is something about this design that's just unapologetically 90s. Extreme sports gimmick, check. Garish color scheme, check. Exaggerated hero proportions. Double friggin check.

Well, hoping that in hand my objection to the small size of his hands (and the lack of fur) doesn't detract me, because I caved and ordered him at show.z. Transmetal Primal wasn't my favourite version (still prefer the season 1 body), but a blue gorilla flying around on a surfboard....yeah, that's something special. (Now to decide if I'm going to keep my original Takara TM Primal.)

There are US stores like Black Ops Toys but shipping to the U.K. will cost more than whatever item you’re after.

That display will really benefit from swapping out Rhinox, Airazor, Dinobot, and Blackarachnia with the upcoming Kingdom versions....

Now that the reviews are starting to show up... I'm not entirely sold on this guy. I mean I never had much of an attachment to the Transmetals in general as I don't have any memory of those from the original run (yet I do recall TM2, so I dunno... maybe those arcs just didn't resonate with me?) so I was in two minds already, but it's looking all the more like a display piece than an action figure.

By that I mean there's an awful lot which you just move and sit there, hoping it stays put. Not that there's actually a huge amount of it, but there's not a huge amount going on with the figure at all so it represents a sizeable portion. There's just no peg or locator bump in the joints - particularly in gorilla mode. The bicep rotation I get not having a locator of sorts, but the backplate (in its entirety) and his robot mode shins just seem to be treated as kibble instead of integral parts.

Not to say that display pieces don't have their place. I'm just not sure it's on my shelf.

If it’s a single review sample that’s being sent out then that would explain it being a little roughed up.

I’m not sure what you mean with the locator pegs- is it the fact that the elbow joints are smooths with no soft ratchets? Every other key joint is ratcheted which is great.
It might just be because I have the original figure (Even though this isn’t a KO) so I know that the backplate will fit snug and securely without any pegs and those robot shins and feet quite simply are kibble in beast mode by design. The show model just has them tucked up and flapping about as he walks. Not exactly a clever transformation but accurate. That’s why I’ll always have the beast mode displayed on the surfboard.

This looks to have exceeded all my expectation. However, a fairly simple redesign of how the forearm panels open would have allowed them to give Primal larger hands but that’s not something I would have even noticed had it not been mentioned here.
