At some point enough is enough. I have been becoming increasingly annoyed, pissed off, and frustrated with the amount BS I have had to put up with lately. I understand all the factors going into the current climate, but this stuff is making collecting a drain. Taken as one or two things its annoying, but this constant bombardment of shipping, scarcity, price increase etc... is pushing me into thinking I might just be happier to get rid of it all.

I was on the fence about the Quintesson already because I know its not just one character. Its 3 plus Sharkticons, Alicons, Bailiffs, Executioner, and Prosecutor. So for me this was likely a no regardless of price. I have liked a lot of XTB. But this pricing (if legit), the price increase on reissues, and the potential bait and switch of the trailer doesn't just make me reluctant to buy their figures. It puts me in the frame of mind where I hope they crash and burn. Its weird cause at the same time I don't want one of the tent pole 3rd party companies to fall. One of the the immediate thoughts I had upon seeing this price was can XTB survive if this figure fails?

If the final price of this figure is anywhere near $170 I hope it fails so spectacularly that it puts the whole industry on notice.

I wonder... who is the first one?

But they are built quite bad, with joints that get loose too quick... $400 is just too much for a pretty figure that doesn't transform imo.

I think Dr Egg is overpriced too, $100 seems to be more reasonable.

If that is the price they are just leaving themselves open for DX9 or Zeta to come in and undercut them with a version without all of the added bits.

Wannabes? There are people who want to be fans but don't quite measure up? Like there's some level of fandom to aspire to and they should be ashamed of themselves if they aren't there? And the line that separates them is how much money they'll spend on toys? So, if someone isn't willing to spend $170 on a Quintesson, that makes them a wannabe fan, right? So they want to be the kind of fan who is willing to spend that much but they just can't quite do it?

Damn, I wish I was as much of a sucker as those guys that spent $170 on a toy. Curse my frugal nature! Why can't I be like the cool kids?!

Look, I've had a lot of negative things to say about Fanstoys but they are the Cadillac. Their plastic quality and paint work are second to none. You look at or handle a Fanstoys figure and you can instantly see your difference. Personally, I'm not the Cadillac kind, and I would rather have a figure that doesn't make the sacrifices that theirs make to get to that level of build quality and a figure that's fun to transform and has better articulation but IMHO there's no disputing their build quality is, in general, superior to other third parties, especially XTB's.

XTB, in my opinion, isn't even out of the shadow of their earlier releases like Ollie, Apollyon, and so on. Most of their release since Klaatu have been pretty good, with the very very notable exception of Overheat, but they just aren't at all in a position to try to claim the same level as their peers and I really wish they'd stop trying. Or at least stop pricing themselves like they are.

I agree with you 1000% bro! It’s getting to be too damn ridiculous price wise. We just have to speak with our wallets and not give in to these greedy manufuckturers

I think X-T shot themselves in the feet with this one. It's a major miscalculation. But I'm sure they'll bounce back and cover the loss with price increases on other product.

It's a shame: I've come to appreciate KFC and X-T.

If it ends up being awesome, which means all the electronics work as advertised, the QC is solid, there is a decent weight, well done accessories, and solid paint...I am still in at $175. I cannot count the number of 3rd party pieces I have paid a cheap price for...only to wish I had gotten a little bit more...even if the price was higher. I want a true Masterpiece Quintesson. If this is a true masterpiece...then I will be ok with the price. Just me. I totally understand that others will feel differently.
