At least it actually had side windows and not robot shoulders jutting out.

But it didn't have giant robot feet just sticking out of the back. Or obviously non-Earth wheels.

Also, even ignoring the obvious leftover Siege parts sticking out in vehicle mode, ER Ironhide's alt mode ain't that great. It has a huge, ugly grey hinge right in the middle of the front.

 

Then count yourself lucky. It was widely reported and is even on the description for the wiki. Can hate earthrise version all you want but I’m happy to get an ironhide that can hold weapons and not always looking at his gut and arms that can be put straight down and not look like he just got out of a scooter at Walmart

Even with the flaws (Which are basically just the feet at the back of the car, not even noticeable if you just exhibit it, you know, normally), Earthrise Ironhide's vehicle mode does simply a better job at creating an actual vehicle.

It’s not a necessity, so if it’s too expensive for you it’s not like it’s something you need.

The feet do look horrible in alt mode, there's no way around it. It looks awful...like kitbashing while on drugs awful.

On top of that, the deco doesn't mesh with itself. Half a window being transparent and the other half being solid...yeah, looks awful and inexcusable.

 

Like I said before: ER is giving us the best Ironhide bot mode.

I also think it’s the worst van mode... which didn’t have to be. I don’t think it would have taken much to to improve upon it and make it the best.

 

I hate to say it but the half-window does have a precedent, both in fiction and in real life

 

This whole argument about ER Ironhide vs Universe/Henkei has gone on for a bit too long and it feels like it's going in circles now. If you don't like it, that's fine, just leave it be, you have nothing to prove by saying you don't.

 

With its feet sticking out it’s back, shoulders sticking out the windows, and unpainted / mid matched windows (especially when it was the other Ironhide’s painted windows that were complained about) I don’t see how anyone can honestly say that.

 

I did the same thing proving primes trailer size is a trailer that actually exists and considering it’s also a type of trailer that doesn’t haul cars but apparently hasbro secretly messaged people promising them it would be bigger and haul all deluxe size cars...

 

The painted windows on Earthrise Ironhide don't stick out as much as broken windows.

 

This is what I hate. People are claiming that they have seen pictures of the Transformers not-yet-revealed and yet they aren't leaking them here. Any leaks are good leaks. I wish to see actual images and not be told you saw the images without giving us a view of them.

 

The leaks come from GFT factory workers themselves. The rest are unrelated people, most of which are from a higher class than the factory workers. Supporting a factory worker rather than rich American capitalist pig? Ok sure

Who said anything about the price. If it were 100 euros I'd still feel the same way as when it is 10 euros. My point is about the design choices made. I never said it is too expensive either. Who brought that up? You? I say that they could have easily fixed the feet and make both modes look good. But they chose not too. And that is a legit complaint. If I can't discuss this issue and be dismissed with " If it's too expensive for you". Mate I can buy it money is no issue.

 

All of these complaints could equally apply to Earthrise Optimus. His rear profile in vehicle mode isn't remotely convincing and his side windows are mismatched.

This isn't to say that the criticism isn't legitimate but it's overblown IMHO because applies to a great many figures.

Of the various WFC figures, only Hound, Wheeljack, and Bumblebee have especially strong rear vehicle profiles IMHO.

Ironhide is arguably among the worst but has among the best robot modes and a decent vehicle mode from the front. The flaws may be worse than some other figures but they're the same category of flaws widely present in other contemporary figures.

Given that WFC was intended to reboot collections, I think it's fairest to compare him to WFC figures. Which all sacrifice a few viewing angles to achieve a highly articulated, vintage media accurate robot character model that transforms into a vehicle that is inspired by vintage media.

 

It is becoming a serious issue for the entire line. They care little for what the alt mode does.ER Elita1 and Arcee do not have great alt modes. At all. You would expect that if they put in such a huge detachable part it actually has both modes look good. It just kind of took me by surprise that the ER Ironhide figure has such huge parts hanging off its back.

My friend, it is not just the rear... You look at the side with Ironhide from any angle and those feet just stick out the back. Prime is posable in Alt mode from decent angles. If you do not see this I don't think it matters what is said. Nothing would convince you.
I get it many people love buying their exclusive sets and then worship it. But don't think you can convince anyone of it that Prime is just as bad as this Ironhide from the side/rear. Because it isn't as bad as that. They even hide it with the product shots... Putting it on an angle and enlarging the front of the Alt mode.
