you know those animated direct to video movies DC makes? well if Hasbro decides to do something like that with Transformers, i think they should adapt Heart of Steel or something.

post what kind of movie you would want to see if this was to happen.

Shrekformers with the warring Ogrebots and DeShrekticons, and other fairy tale Transformers, getting hunted by the freelance peacekeeping agent Drek's Head. Drek's Head who is working for the liliputian shape-shifting Quintesson with a Napoleon complex Lord Farquaad. Lord Farquaad and the other Quintessons make captured Shrekformers toil away for ore and energy within the bowels of the Earth, but this subterranean activity awakens primeval forces within the layers of our world. The being known as Onioncron is blooming in the depths...and he's crispy, and he's tasty, and he's about to make everyone cry! And the only way to defeat him is by using the Memetrix of SwampLordship to light our dankest hour!

A movie about Hound in WWII would be lovely.

I'd love to see any of the following comic book adaptations...

Transformers The Movie with all the deleted scenes.
    Target: 2006
    The Wrath of Guardian/Grimlock.
    In the National Interest.
    The G1 Micromasters/Roadhandler arc.
    Last Stand of the Wreckers
    Time Wars
The IDW Bayverse prequel where Megatron first encounters The Fallen.
    Dreamwave's War and Peace
Dreamwave's G1 ongoing broken into chapters. The Sunstorm saga and Sunstreaker and Sideswipe vs the Insecticons.

The entire G2 comic book series. I think Megatron's va from Prime Wars would really fit his G2 portrayal. Both engage in dark humour, "Really Prime, doesn't he have a muzzle?"

    The Marvel Headmasters mini series.

    Original stories:

Tap Out and Kick Off's time as gladiators in the greasepits of Polyhex.

Something with Hot Rod and Blurr but giving Blurr plenty Matrix style fight scenes. Regeneration showed him to be a badass.

A Nightbeat and Siren detective story.

I would really enjoy direct-to-video animated films. Either as part of the existing movie universe, or just their own universe. I think it would be a neat way to expand the stories and do more robot-focused stuff they couldn't do (or would be harder to do) in a theatrical movie made for mass appeal.

I think it would be neat to see an animated movie about the cosmic adventures of Lockdown.

i was thinking it could be a series of stand alone films set in separate universes. i have flirted the idea of a crossover film that ties the direct to video movies through multiversal travel and make a "into the spiderverse-esque" film.

I feel like that would get very confusing especially for newer fans, and a lot of people who would get invested in the characters would want more.

Like, we can do a multiverse, but maintain them in the same continuity.

Personally, just with an original story with no Optimus or Megatron and with Rodimus and Shockwave leading, I'm happy.

The teams would basically be kind of like the "Greatest Hits" from various parts of the franchise. The Autobots would be Rodimus Prime, Nightbeat, Arcee, Bumblebee, Wheeljack, Minerva, Smokescreen, Drift, Nautica, Daytonus, Breakaway, Windblade, Strongarm, Wreck-Gar, Siren, Rattrap and the Torchbearers/Victorion

And on the side of the Decepticons we would have Shockwave, Starscream, Runabout and Runamuck, Thunderhoof, Knock Out, Tankor, Sky-Byte, Quake, Deluge, Blitzwing and the Seacons/Piranacon.

How can we do that? aren't the continuities and universes the same thing?

    Not necessarily, no.
Say for example I make a set of shows and films that exist within that certain continuity. One explores the multiverse of that continuity.
Then I go later and make a whole new set of shows and movies that feature a multiverse, but it exists completely unrelated and independent of that previous set I did. They have nothing to do with each other.

What you want for cinemas and what you want for direct-to-video should be totally different. A direct-to-video line is an opportunity to workshop concepts with more niche appeal, so while some of the ideas already suggested are great, they're not specific enough for something like this. A Gladiator, a WWII, Beast Wars, and G.I. Joe crossover films are already things they're considering for cinemas.

Here are some things I'd like to see for direct-to-video that are too obscure for theatrical release in the foreseeable future:
    • A film predating the 3rd Cybertronian War with early Primes, corrupt Autobots, and Quintessons.
    • A dark and gritty GoBots film parodying the Bayverse as a playful jab at themselves.
    • "The Transformers Are All Dead" but even darker with Shockwave scarier than ever.
    • "The Hate Plague" as a scary outbreak film.
    • More Japanese G1 after Zone to adapt remaining manga and story pages from TV Magazine.
    • Several Shattered Glass features.
    • A direct-to-video line could potentially support a sequel to TLK to end that series. It has enough fans that would wanna see that. It could be animated with simplified versions of the Bayverse designs. Several human characters could return in minor roles, even Sam because anyone can voice them. Since it's not live-action, there's a lot more you can do with style. No writer, producer, or director from Bayverse should work on it though. It needs a fresh pair of eyes to see how they can clean up that continuity once and for all.

Keeping with the DC animated universe's plan of "Lets make a comic arc into a movie", I'd think IDW's All Hail Megatron comic would be a great first attempt of setting up a long line of direct to DVD Transformers movies. Its action-packed, filled with drama, and, even though its part of a larger universe, the story keeps itself wrapped up to were you can read the comic without any other prior knowledge and still understand and enjoy the full story!

I would definitely love to see them. If only the people who are making them actually care. Personally I’ll to see animated adaptations of some of the marvel and IDW stories such as:

    Target 2006
    Last stand of the wreckers
    Time wars
    The sins of the wreckers
    Galvatron: dead or alive
    And
    The reign of starscream

An adaptation of that Shining Armour miniseries, set in the Bumblebee universe, would be cool.

I'd love for direct to video movies. I think if they did the IDW comics, especially the Simon Furman stuff and All Hail Megatron, that would be badass and amazing. Hell they can even do Lost Light, the Wreckers Trilogy or make something entirely new!
But do Infiltration first, cause seeing Megatron for the first time would just be, "mwach."
