Thanks for that moment of clarity, you're right. The directors more than likely asked for it. It was just so painful to listen to it is a wonder they didn't stop him and say "ehhh...try something else...too forced." Absolutely, I can't put all of the blame, or any of it really, at the VA's feet. He more than likely did what he was told. No doubt it's tough to appeal to TF fans with new stuff, but at least try, directors haha. Honestly, when I think of Starscream nowadays, I think of Armada or Prime Starscream. More raspy, controlled, and menacing, with just a touch of simpering cowardice, but far more competent. I know that may be the unpopular view, but I take him more seriously there. The BW stuff will be interesting to see VA-wise...

I agree on both points, that the voice actors are not to blame, and that I prefer my Starscreams a bit raspier. (the only exception if TFA Starscream, but that's because Tom Kenny has amazing vocal range no matter what voice he's put on) In the rare moments of more natural dialogue pacing the actual performances sound more than passable, but at times you could almost hear the difficulty the cast had in artificially slowing down their speech.

Is it possible they had to slow down the speech so the animation could work for diff languages? The Japanese dub seems a little rushed. Split the difference?

Just finished watching today. Sorry if it's already been discussed, but what was the final scene about? I'm wondering if I'm missing something...

That would be the Decepticon’s ship, The Nemesis, in pursuit of the Ark, just like in most Transformers fiction.

So, can anybody answer these two questions:

    What does Megatron want?
    What does Optimus want?

Right, but specifically, what do they want? If they both wanted to end the war, and that's all they wanted, the war would be ended. So they both want some different flavor of war ending.

    Again, what does Megatron want?
    What does Optimus want?

It's a very basic and very important question.

I was agreeing with you in a roundabout way. Saying how vague and nebulous their goals are in the show.

    Ah.

But seriously to anybody else, what do they want? I don't even care why they want it.

Like, Captain Planet villain wants to kill the dolphin.
Captain Planet wants the dolphin alive

The Predator wants to hunt for sport.
    Arnold's troops want to survive.

The machines don't want the truth of the matrix to come out.
The human resistance wants the truth to come out.

Ok, now we can start the story.

The trailers really didn't do this show much justice. I went in with low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. Currently making my way through it for the second time. Some thoughts:

    Pros:

-Animation is actually pretty cool and solid. Cybertron was my first Transformers series, and so I loved seeing my toys on screen again almost verbatim. The cast and environments are satisfyingly gritty.

-Speaking of the environments, Cybertron is more varied than I thought going in. It's a war-torn planet, but isn't all grey and drab like in Prime.

-The show has a sizable cast, but it doesn't drag the story down. Just about every named character has a good moment or two, and the main cast had some decent development for six episodes.

-Voice acting is just okay. Some characters -- Starscream, Megatron, Elita-1, and Wheeljack -- were pretty good. Optimus felt all over the place to me, but he's a conflicted character and it works at times.

-The plot is straightforward yet nuanced. There were instances where something would be introduced that I feared would dominate the show, but it didn't happen.

-The war has dragged on for quite a while, and it shows. Neither faction is monolithic, and there's some good dialogue/commentary on war when characters argue about for what's right versus expediency.

-Megatron was the highlight of the show for me. Jason Marnocha sounds like Fred Tatascoire from the WFC games, but raspier. He felt like a very three-dimensional Megatron -- cruel with questionable motives (questionable insofar as I find them vague), but not beyond reason. He represents the middle of the Decepticons perceptive-wise, and entertains overtures from his subordinates as to how the war should proceed. He's competent, not cowardly, and is intimidating. He had some awesome moments, and may be one of my favorite takes on Megatron.

    Cons:

-Pacing starts slow and takes a while to pick up. As a result, the finale felt rushed to me.

-Character voices were confusingly similar at times, not helped out by an overdone robo-filter. The latter made a few characters difficult to understand at times.

-Music, aside from the opening title theme, wasn't memorable. I'm hoping this changes on the second watch-through.

-We've still got two seasons to flesh it out, but it's unclear to me exactly what each side is fighting for. I can fill in the gaps from other fiction, but wish it was spelled out more for newcomers to the franchise.

-There are multiple scenes where characters are running from a battle or traveling from location to location, and walk instead of transforming. This did get better as time went on, however.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the show. It's a good piece of Transformers fiction along the lines of the Bumblebee movie that will hopefully reach a wide audience.

Couldn't of said it better myself. Has to be the worst voice dialog I ever herd. Disgraceful
