Oof, the back of the van?

It’s a shame they couldn’t have had the heel spur fold up to make the shape a little better....

yeah, he probably should have gotten new feet overall... the carryover ones have the overdone siege greebles that look really out of place next to his new smooth legs.

I was just looking at the Siege version and his feet are on molded-in posts and can be popped out. Basically there is hope for a plug & play foot fix for the car mode. A bit shameful Hasbro didn't just make new ones, since there is no hardware in the existing part. Same for the wheels...

I mean, I am totally still getting him though...*shrug*

I do like him...wish they could have hidden those feet a little better, though. Something I find amazing are the size comparisons with MP Ironhide. They are very similar in size in alt mode but drastically different in size in bot mode. I’m also sorry to see that they don’t appear to have corrected the issue with the side panels popping off. It’s a simple fix...

I've also got to wondering if the rear side window panels fold out to act as foot plates due to the width of his stance, or if the rear two of those four red pegs are just wide enough apart for him to be pegged on in a very G1 toy-style?

Now... if there was any complaint about this Ironhide figure, the back of that van is totally unacceptable. E-gags!

The shield is lovely. I am very happy with this tooling overall. The feet and back of the van is very weak but not a deal breaker for me. The shield implies they thought of turning the feet into a smoother area with back window detailing, but probably ran into cost limitations. The underside of an alt mode is the least important in my opinion, but the back failing is more acceptable than the top front or sides I suppose.

My suspicion (like with Elita-1) is they focussed the budget and figured an easily replaceable part can be left alone for third party upgrades if someone cares. So close to being a knockout G1 CHUG Ironhide.

I will be very happy with this figure next to Siege, but see why some won't be.

So if Ramjet + Dirge are coming relatively soon, the estimated November release for Ironhide and Prowl is likely not true?

Ramjet and dirge have been scheduled for mid August since preorders went up, same for ironhide and prowl being scheduled for November

Ironhide is pretty brutal in vehicle mode... having trouble thinking of a worse execution in the siege or earthrise line. I am sure someone will correct me though lol -

Bot mode looks ok at least, though I am not a huge fan of the yellow -

I love the new Ironhide and Prowl. I really hope they get a closer release than November. I want them now!

Ironhide could have been perfect but is held back by the Siege parts. I'm wondering if a third party will do an upgrade kit to replace a few parts, like his feet and wheels, which can be easily swapped out. Even the forearms could be due for a swap.

The greebly nature of the Siege sculpting just does not mesh with the flatter surfaces of the G1 design in the torso and shoulders.

That Ironhide is ridiculous. I really think Earthrise is completely over rated.

Which are easy to accomplish without partsforming. Most other figures in the line don't do and and they're still for kids. Siege Ironhide didn't, and I fail to see how he's supposedly too complex for children.

You are right. I made this post before I saw any of the actual reviews or images other than the promos. I was under the impression that the shield also covered up the back of the van as well, which would, at least in my head, justify partsforming so that the backpack wouldn’t look like AOE optimus’s backpack. However, my views have changed since the videos have come out, and I’m now purely buying this set for prowl

I find it interesting it has three ports on top of the van. They are spaced in such a way you could plug in treads to recreate the battle station platform. I’m curious if Hasbro will make those for a new weapons/accessories pack.
