Given its only a representation of a chain and doesn't actually move, it would be called a plastic TOY.

Of note, I think the weapon pack is cool, so i ordered it. Same with literally the entire rest of the line. Any word on that Cyclonus leak from a while back or ER Thrust?

Ironbottom\'s robot feet sticking out in vehicle form is killing my excitement for this set.

And I get frustrated when someone misidentifies various aircraft. When someone says something inaccurate about something you're specifically interested in, it's pretty much human nature to want to correct them. But it's all just up to personal preference really. It may technically be closer to a flail, but Hasbro calls it a mace. So really either one works. If you wanna call it a mace, go for it. If you wanna call it a flail, sure. Not sure why its a big deal either way

So, I watched the video review of the set and it's what I was hoping for. Not perfect, but it'll make me happy. On the one hand, I want to use their Roller because he's far more in-scale than Nonnef's, but Nonnef's is functional (fully) and carries 'Masters. Decisions, decisions.

That Prime rifle is ridiculous, though. I think it'll sit in the box... Forever. (It almost seems like it's made for an older Leader Class figure...)

Stop doing that! It doesn't make you cool, it doesn't foster goodwill, and you could do so much more important stuff with your time. Good grief.

    Depends on the set, really.
Their Devastator set is okay, their Predaking set is 50/50. Their SS Ironhide set fixes one thing, ruins another, and their Optimal Optimus set is very hard to integrate at times, but looks fantastic and feels well-built.

More often than not, I've had positive experiences with their stuff, but when they do fail, you feel it deep in your soul.

Hope not. Their Generations kits have been awful overall and should stick to primarily SS. GUOP / UM legs was the worst kit they've done.

GX / Go Better Studio (3d prints that look like injection molding quality with properly matching paint) made a Ratchet kit before. I hope they do one for ER Ironhide / Ratchet.

It was the First company that came to mind when I thought of add ons.

In regards to that weapon/accessory pack, what color were the original weapons in the cartoon?

    Were they gray/silver?

Yeah, about that G1 cartoon being consistently inconsistent...

Grays are tough because it's hard to tell if they're supposed to be gray, silver, or chrome.

Axe is Autobot orange blast, Mace is Decepticon purple blast, Bumblebee's is gray (MP 1.0 was blue).

Alt modes supposed to, uh, look like their alt modes (Megatron, Shockwave, Refraktor).

Ironhide drill should be dark gray, maybe black base with silver / gray drill.

    Siiiiigh, yeah I hear ya.

Well I am merely trying to justify the short cuts that were made. I mean, I CAN get with the fact that if they were gray or silver or sorts, then unpainted is ok.

But things that were straight up a different color, or black or something is just plain cheap and lazy.

I feel like when things are THAT apparent , then we're just better off without them.

It's like playing with a prototype.

I'm thinking that if it really does look ridiculously big in hand, it may go nicely with my POTP Nemesis Prime, or TR Magnus Prime/God Ginrai...

The ultimate Ironhide to me would be this bot mold that would turn into the Studio Series GMC heavy cab.

That black piece could use a Toyhax sticker, just to cover things up a bit.

They can call it a mace, but it would be like calling Optimus Prime's weapon a hammer.

I was originally thinking of painting the back windows black, but that may look odd since they'll be very visible on the legs in bot mode.

I said this in the Prowl/Ironhide thread, but I think Ironhide could really benefit from an upgrade kit that replaces some of the leftover Siege parts. The greeble-y detailing of the Siege style doesn't really mesh well with the rest of the new parts which go for that blocky G1 aesthetic. It should be easily doable since many of those parts are just held in place by friction (the feet, wheels, forearms).

ngl I kind of like the idea of greeble-y robot bits in tandem with smooth earth vehicle mode bits like how prowl does it. I dunno, just because they turn into relatively smooth vehicles doesn't mean that they need to be smooth robots as well.

In Ironhide's case though the robot mode shoulders and feet really stick out on the vehicle mode.
