That's cause they made a huge deal over the paint job, and people fell for it. They were almost always shown in static poses cause the paint job was what they put their effort into and it convinced hundreds of people that they were the best things since sliced bread.

 

Also dont forget that freedom leader was 160 for the deluxe, and only recently went to 200 due to us retailers....so its not even a true 200+ figure. At 160 it has more flaws then i care for, and i pitty anyone who got it for 200+... but i think the big take home is toyworld hasnt changed. They still have shit qc, terrible customer support, and while they can make good looking figures and do great paint work, that doesnt mean they are fun to play with. Constructor is on repaint 101293104 and still has people reporting qc issues of missing pieces, overly tight springs that need to be clipped, and transformations so stiff it feels like its gonna break. Most people buy, put it in devi mode, and leave it there.

 

Yea and PX Apocalypse was VERY expensive when it first came out. To date I think it is still my most expensive figure.

 

Still on the fence with this figure, won’t decide till I know the QC issues and in hand depth review from an English source, price still off the charts for me at 31 cm

 

Definitely not cheap, but they did the nice thing initially and released it in two parts over time to be easier to afford

 

At that price point, I better get both DS-02 and DS-03 of devil savior

 

Still really on the fence about this figure. On the one hand he looks like the ultimate Grimlock figure (IMO, even at the smaller size) and there's the possibility he will go up in value over time, but on the other hand he's just way too expensive...

I'm really conflicted with this figure. I'm fine with the size i guess i'll just put it beside my SS figures, but god it's so expensive. Its PO price here in Manila is about 10,000 php (200 usd), for me that's too much considering the size.
Also i really hate the partsforming back, from what i saw from the video the rod for the mace and the wrecking ball doesn't store in the dino mode, only the mace itself unfurls and turns into the back. If they're gonna make the mace a major part of the dino mode personally i think they should have at least included proper storage of the the rod.

But it's not basically storage, the mace is required to solidify and bulk the back of the dino, so it's technically a partsformer.

 

This form os partsforming is intelligent. Weapon storage is always a worry, especially for beastformers, and so a big @ss mace disappearing into the beast mode is perfect. One of the biggest problems with weapon partsforming itself is the worry of losing the weapons, but again, it is a big @ss mace.

 

If the reviews for it say its good and there is nothing wrong with it then I'll reluctantly buy it. Although I'm a fool for thinking about possibly buying such an overpriced toy.

 

As i said, my issue with the partsforming aspect of this figure is the rod. If they where gonna make it a partsformer they should have at least considered storage for the other two components (or at least just the rod). They should've made the rod fold or disassemble and store within or under the dino at least. Cause if they were gonna make a 200usd figure with partsforming they should have committed to it and not selectively use a part of one accessory only. But that's just my opinion tho.

 

Thats the issue though, only 1/3 pieces of weapons parts form, the pole and ball dont. So you still have to find a place to store those 2 pieces. I agree, i love when weapons parts form for storage, but i prefer ALL of them too and not just 1/3

Are you sure of that? Not doubting you I just wasn't able to watch most of the video. You're saying that only the head of the mace stores and the part he holds has to be put aside? I would want the whole mace to store. I'm OK with the other two accessories not storing as the mace is the most iconic. I don't count weapon storage as partsforming, unless it's something like earthrise Ironhide's "shield" or Arcee's "hoverboard" those are bullshit (and also not weapons). I think a transformer should store their weapons inside their bodies, especially since they tend to pop out of nowhere. However if only the head of the mace integrates then that is lame. I think there's plenty of room inside that massive Trex body to put a thin rod.

 

I'm kinda sure? Haha. I watched the whole thing for 3 hours on taobao but the quality and how the vid was taken was so bad. At the end of this vid he removed the rod and set it aside off camera with the ball.

Yeah that's what im saying, im fine with partsforming weapons but this figure only partially does that. And yes i hope the rod does fit somewhere since there are some space in various places in the trex.

Im really hoping that at least the rod stores like if i missed something or the reviewer just didnt show it, cause if it does im definetely buying this.

 

My hope is the pole stores, as it did with the BMB version, no reason not to honestly, and like its been said, the video is awkward and low quality, a real reviewer will probably cover those aspects much better. THe ball i can see not storing...or hell go full on michael bay and give grimlock a scrotum....

 

Now I understand; seeing as how he places them off screen, I assume they do not store.

 

Thanks for reposting that video link. It was a terrible video but I actually did take the time to watch it. And guess what? I TOOK THE PLUNGE. I just want to experience this thing for myself. Plus I had about $12 in showz points and $125 in my paypal from selling something, so I only paid something like $95 today. I decided I'm going to sell a couple other expensive figures to pay for this thing. To pay for this I'll likely sell my toyworld freedom leader and my newage soundwave (eventually). Then once I get this guy and take some comparison pics I'll be selling my SS leader Grimlock (with DNA kit).

For some reason learning that his mouth opens and closes was enough to put me over the edge! Plus I like how they have a lot of ways for the armor pieces to move out of the way of all his bulk. If he sucks then I'll sell him after taking some pics.

Yeah that video is so terrible, and it looks like they have a professional camera/lighting/random green screen setup...
