So I've been thinking about the future of the Transformers movies and a personal project of mine, I wanted to see what everyone's thoughts are on the Decepticon generics from Bayformers 1-5 and Bumblebee. Autobots never get them, but the enemy seems to never run out of them.

I used to like the "Protoforms" from 2-5 that made up the bulk of the army with simple looks, though I wish we had more about them than just "naked aliens running around with plasma rifles only". Even ones that did have alt modes kinda vanished to the background and die. The Vehicons/Sentries were a step-up in the variety department, but then The Last Knight happened so they don't exist. Bumblebee brings back the Seekers as the baseline troopers for the Decepticons since G1 and others. I think they're also a step up from the protoforms, can be open to design interpretation, more weaponry, personality, and a lot of color scheme options than just all black. What do you guys think? I personally hope the next films keep the Seekers for the Decepticons, but I wouldn't mind if we went back to the Vehicons.

No strict limits on generic Decepticons. Mix it up.

Ideally we wouldn't have any generics.

Maybe have the generics for both sides have some more verity. Maybe have mix and match body parts if they don’t transform, or at the very least have car and jet bots on both sides. Feels odd for the cons and bots to have armies of troops and only a few with unique designs

    Mix it up.
Add some Seekers, vehicons, swap around a few parts but don't make it painfuly obvious.
Heck, you can do what animated did and go the route where various Cybertronians share the same base but everyone retains their own individuality be it by differencrs in head design, color, extra features, and so on.
And this should be extended towards all TF media, not just films.

I had a similar idea, though I also remembered about the Centurion Drones, which both sides used that were like heavy ground units. I like to think the Decepticons kept the Seekers because "muh air superiority" and these guys were factory made, taking orders from the side in control of them. Since we now have Siege figures of these bad boys I like to imagine that angle can be tackled at some point.

Protoforms are the most logical, but they need to stop looking so hideous. Seekers are way cooler.

After watching WFC I have a new idea. (SPOILERS)
So in Ratchet's hospital and the pit of zombies, there were a lot of generics that represented the local Cybertronian populace. There were body types of Sideswipe, Ironhide, Prowl, Starscream, and Cog. So maybe, just maybe. What if those four represented the generic models created by the Creators when they were around?

We'd have Seeker generics exclusively used by the Decepticons, Ironhide generics for the Autobots, and Prowls and Cogs on both sides. What do you think?

    YouTube (Legacy):
I think the choice has been made by Hasbro whether we like it or not. Seekers are the generics in Bumblebee, Cyberverse, and now Siege (okay, well, almost everyone was a generic in Siege). Considering Hasbro is on a crusade trying to unify the brand, we're probably not going to deviate much from it. Anyways, I like the idea of the Cons being dominated by flyers. In the same line, I'd prefer if Megatron was a flyer too.

One can argue this means anything made as a figure or a collectible will have some sort of appearance. Travis Knight had Powell and Dropkick in Bumblebee; one is a Animated character, and one is a video game only character that was a generic in the 2007 game before becoming his own character in this film. It's entirely possible to hope for more out there characters in future films, and with Brunt as a trooper and obscure people in the Siege line there is hope for a more diverse cast yet.

Personally I don't like Cog's design. Outside of Soundwave, I generally don't like the visor and faceplate look.

I love the Seekers though. Ironhide seemed to be the inspiration for the Autobot generics in Cyberverse.

After various Seeker molds, I think Sideswipe might have the most repaints in the franchise, well maybe Bumblebee:

    Red Alert
    Deep Cover
    Clampdown
    Tiger Tracks
G2 Sideswipe who is a separate character to the G1 character in IDW and Siege.
    G2 Firecracker
    G2 Optimus Prime!!
    RID R.E.V.
    Classics Sunstreaker (head remold)
    Botcon Punch (head remold)

But to answer the thread question, Seekers are my preference. I really want more repaints of the Siege Seeker mold, even...and I risk persecution for speaking this perceived blasphemy...Dirge, Thrust and Ramjet without cone heads as the original toy intended.

There are still plenty obscure Seekers needing mainline exposure such as Nacelle, Bitstream, G2 Blackout and Sandstorm.

I'd say it would depend on the plot. But I would like to see a variety. If it's all seekers, I don't want to see earth like kibble. It must look unique and not from this planet.

Maybe a bit of both. Seeing both Seekers amd Vehicons would be dope. I hated having Protoforms as the foot soldiers

    My humble opinion:
Protoforms should be the default skin before they choose or are given the rank/role of combat.
Then they either become the ground-based Vehicons (like bikes, cars, lorries and tanks), or the air-based Seekers (like jets and choppers).

Honestly, with the Michael Bay movie Decepticons its hard to tell the 'generics' apart, so I'm perfectly fine with Protoforms. Certainly a bunch of Starscream look-alikes in those movies would look a little silly. ;)

But if they did choose to go with a more traditional aesthetic, I say bring on a rainbow of Seekers!
