I hadn't heard. Definitely both retail releases for that figure (and seemingly the Takara) use vulnerable metallic plastic for a high-stress joint area.

That shoulder hinge assembly requires some force, but it never felt fragile on mine until the GPS effect kicked in. Not sure about the botcon version, but if it has problems too, that's a shame. I rather like the figure otherwise.

    Thanks for the IDs!

The China Toy fair is on today. I don't usually go the 1st day though. Not sure how much grief it will be for foreigners to attend, might not go this year.

Got this rare OS KO of RID 2001 Megatron recently and I think this scales way better than the original. I always thought the original RID Megatron figure was too small. 3AF855EA-F51B-4CDC-85AD-4B683F4B3965.jpeg

I would post more size comparisons of this next to more RID figures but I sold most of my RID collection a long time ago unfortunately.

I'm now looking hungrily at this figure as custom fodder...could you possibly tell me how tall he is to the top of the head?

You're a permanent resident by now though, aren't you?

I have to say, I'd be very curious what the Chinese toy fair landscape looks like at the moment. If you don't end up going, it would still be cool if you had access to pictures from other (presumably Chinese) attendees to share. :thumb

Is that still for sale anywhere or was it a one-off? I think it cost more than an official Galvatron last time I saw that KO available, so I've been hoping for it to come available again.

However, if China is anything like Japan, looking "non-Chinese" is thought of as being "foreign". When some places had an embargo on foreign scalpers (from China/Hong Kong), who were buying-up the latest PlayStation at the time, some shops also stopped resident ex-pats from also buying them.

Would have been cool to see him next to Optimus and Omega.

I hope he fulfills your Scamper requirements appropriately. :lol

Yeah, of course China and Japan have a much stronger sense of a monolithic ethnicity compared to places with a long history if high immigration. I expect being a known regular who speaks the language helps somewhat though.

Yeah, I've heard that's quite common. Plus, I mean... there are Chinese people everywhere, so there are a lot of different ways to be Chinese and not-Chinese at the same time.

I have a friend from Ouagadougou who emigrated to France, then to Canada, and became a dual citizen of both... and when he visits home, everyone treats him as non-African, even though he was an adult when he left!
