Well apparently that's what it seems. One with the tab and one without. Maybe both Chinese reviewers cut the tab as it is another fix you can do for the official, maybe it works for the KO too? Bit confused there... Wow, no need to insult him though... Ben is very positive as he is sponsored , that's a fact. But the guy has been through quite a lot in his life and that makes him able to focus on positive points rather than negative. I feel a lot of people should learn from him... He also offered us the first review that we could all understood about this figure. Show him a bit of acknowledgement for that, at least. Thank you mate! It really looks like MP-44 except the part on the lower leg is white instead of blue on the official. That tab is definitely the culprit again here. Maybe try to disassemble that leg to take pics if you feel like doing it. Most important part is that tab and the piece it inserts in.
I sincerely hope there really is a "fixed" version of this KO, because that means I have a chance of getting a proper fix. I'm gonna wait while to see if my retailer gets some details from the factory before attempting TMan's recommended fix. But I found that if I hold the leg around the gas cans firmly and use a little upward forward while bending, I can force it to ratchet properly to 90 degrees. But then after that, the plastic just warps over that little tab, don't know how Ben manages to ratchet all the way. The right leg seems a bit better to get ratchets this way than the left.
I try and stay out of official threads for my own well-being Hmm, they really screwed the pooch on that particular element of the mould, needlessly I might add.
first of all...my god is that a stupid design takara. holy sheet. 2nd, thanks guys for posting the fix. the only REAL fix is if they made those two pieces one piece IMO. guess i'll be preventativly fixign the KO when it arrives. the KO maker had every chance to do this but didn't. Seems an odd choice. don't have the part in hand but perhaps from a molding standpoing the combined geometry makes a one piece molded plastic piece impossible? could be the case but i'd need it in hand to tell.
Yeah, that design choice with the knees was a huge self inflicted fail. And I have had zero issues with the knees on my official MP-44. I have heard people call that knee design “ingenious” and I wondered if those people must be on Takara’s payroll or something. To design something to break (or warp to the point of no longer functioning properly, to be exact) if you use the double joints in the wrong order is just asinine. And while users on here did a terrific job of quickly identifying the issue, the fix, and the safest usage of the knee joints (which is probably the single biggest reason that I haven’t had any problems with the knees on my figure), it’s not like the instructions say “don’t bend the knees like this or you will damage your $450 figure.” And even if they did, that still wouldn’t make it okay. Some of these pics look like they didn’t change the knee design at all. I’m still seeing the blue tab that’s supposed to “unlock” the lover ratchet joint. I still love this mold, but it’s fair to call out the obvious shortcomings. Especially for the price point of the official.
This is.. a figga by, I do... believe... Gillette. I was told on Faceboooook. Very robust. Here it is... next to 3A Bumblebee. Quite the comparison.
I really like the edits of bots&bits, it remembers me to Jobby (my favourite). But lately BB don't review nothing that interests to me. I dont know Rocket Punch Army, but I will find it, thanks!.
I've now watched the Chinese vid that shows the new MP-49 knees and Jeebus, they did make things worse! Now the entire top ratchet pops out and the leg wobbles! I mean, I guess you can just pop it back in, but surely that's not good for it?
Hi, I'm the guy who had his pictures quoted a few posts back from the MP-49 thread... I'm not concerned about the "fix" they did for the new knees. Looking at the teeth on the knee, it doesn't seem that they would place any extra stress by moving out of that normal range. I would have preferred a more clever fix, but it's a minor inconvenience at worst, and nothing that makes me think the figure is being damaged at all. Honestly, I don't think I'd mind the original knee setup on the KO, but I wouldn't mind if they replicated Takara's "fix." If they're going unpainted, I'd hope they mold the crotch details in yellow and do what Takara did for MP49... I wish the black was painted on that toy, but I enjoy everything else being molded directly in final colors because I see a lot of potential for chipping in the legs (never owned MP44 but I've seen pictures of the yellow and white chipping there). My biggest complaints with MP49 are the bland unpainted black plastic and the price, but a lower price would make me care less about the black paint missing... otherwise I enjoy it! If the yellow on this KO is unpainted (or at least molded in yellow with yellow paint on top), I may pick one up and try to 3d print a trailer adapter to use MP10's trailer with it.
Aww man, I ordered this on good faith because I heard the knee issue had been resolved. If it's not I may as well send the bloody thing back and get my money. What a let down.
I mean he's not wrong. I watch Ben to see the early reviews of a k.o. or if I want to convince myself to buy something because dude loves everything he reviews. He's a good salesman for Show Z & TF- Direct.
I'm getting tired of losing out on $1 here and $2 here for a deposit with ShowZ cause the final products I PO aren't what I ordered. Does showz give back the deposit or is it non refundable?
Quite a few people in the official thread mentioned that it looks like it will put strain on it over time by continually snapping it back into place. Is that not your experience? Not that I'm getting it, I'm just interested. The Chinese vid I saw made it look like it popped out almost every time.
