    I think the reason was because it unlike Gigawatt, Maverick was originally intended as an SDCC exclusive, which tend to get more... creative packaging. The fourth "Collaborative" figure everyone keeps forgetting, MP-10G, is an example of that.

    The dog tags on the box list two dates, the first is the original film's release. The second is the original planned release for the sequel.

    My guess is, had SDCC gone off as intended, we'd have seen this as an SDCC exclusive alongside the limited numbered Gigawatt. With both being offered via Pulse later in the year as is normally the case.

    This goes for the Quintesson Pit boxed set as well. Likely planned for SDCC but now being sold as a Pulse Exclusive during the window we'd normally see units made available after the show.

    Well, to complete this post, maverick appeared as preorder in France on amazon France for release date on October 7th,
    This was the approximate date of the paris comic con. I posted this a few days ago.

    Now that newer pictures of Gigawatt show an improved coloring/deco, let's hope that Maverick here will also get a makeover.
