I’m on Episode 4 and it’s been somewhat disappointing. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. As I mentioned after watching the trailer, the voice work really kills it for me. It’s anemic and sounds a little bit like an awkward fan dub. There’s no real character to it at all, which is a shame since just about every other animated Transformers series in existence has had at least some memorable voice work.

I'm on my second watch now and decided to watch the Japanese dub with English subtitles. WAY BETTER IMO, and that's coming from someone who doesn't watch anime/foreign dubs. The pacing seems to flow better as well. Overall, I'm still mixed on the series but do enjoy certain aspects of it. Also, they should have given Ultra Magnus at least one big action sequence. With a design like his, it just felt like a waste to have him sit in prison for a majority of his time on the show.

It's hard for me to get used to seeing Optimus speaking without moving his mouth, and I also would have liked that Shockwave when speaking the light on his face goes off and on.

Those details would have been better.

Its a sword that didn't come with his figure and yeah I think he could one hit kill most things with it. One Seeker gets sliced into four pieces in less than a second. A lot of bots do get killed with laser fire, but that sword needs an episode of explanation.

Big shame, wish we had gotten to see him bust out of his armor.

It's great how that moment of hesitation adds to Megatron's character and that it's possible they could have worked together if he didn't go behind Megatron's back. He was almost getting through to him.

Who's That Autobot? Oh, this is soooo hard... Let's see. Is it Reflector? On a planet made up of 50% Reflectors, my odds have to be pretty good. What if a bunch of them stood on another's shoulders?

Cyberverse showed an Autobot death here and there, Prime had a couple. Bumblebee had a few. Weird arguement to make, Autobots get killed in recent stuff all the time, especially the comics.

I completely agreed with you. When Prime, WJ, BB were getting corners in the beginning, I was so sure UM would storm it with a bang, bang, considering the amount of weapons his toy had. Instead, it only turned out to be Elita 1.
Yup, what a mis-opportunity/ disappointment. I was looking forward to see that the most...especially after his deactivation when my excitement begin to get the Dreamwave Comic W&P #6 nerd rage feeling. Who know, maybe they'll save it for the Earthrise, lol.

    What I think of Siege....
1, The writer completely does not know how to write the UMagnus character or anyone with a military mindset. You don't abandon your teammate after eons of fighting, then go off to surrender in order to get yourself torture to death. He's one the most powerful autobots after Prime, full of past knowledge from Alpha Trion Protocol, an experienced warrior, yet they made his character full of naive and stupid. *Face palm down* when he couldn't pull the trigger to shoot, you know who, due to honor/pride thingy. Good grief, he's a military commander for a reason which is to be bold and daring. I can't stand the way they wrote Siege UM. He got a such awesome bad a$$ toy but the writer !@#$% him up in the show. I have no more faith in Brandon when he writes TF Galaxies #10-12 UM!
2, The Voice Actors. If I closed my eyes, I can't tell who is who speaking for some of the characters. For the big role cast, Shockwave sounded too much like Starscream. While Soundwave voice synthesizer was horrible. Megatron/Magnus slow and soft speaking bothered at time, they sounded too close.
3, Such ashamed the Battle Masters or other firepower accessories that came with each character were not used e.g. UM weapons, Shockwave armor weapon, etc.
4, Not enough alt.mode transformation, this is nitpicky. Only some few bots we got to see their alt.mode. I was hoping to the alt.mode for UM, Soundwave, Shockwave, Reflectors, Elita One, etc. I get the 6 episodes restriction....
5, Skyfire. Yes he was awesome in the show, but that's not the Skyfire I remembered and loved. My Skyfire was a scientist who showed hesitation/questioning before taking people down. To me, Skyfire switching side was more convincing in the G1 than the Siege.

Have actually watched the whole season a few times now, between starting & stopping episodes randomly and letting ep's run back-to-back. I stand by what I said before after having only seen one episode. The animation is sterile, the action is odd and the show itself it too deadly serious. That said, I definitely want to see where this is going and what it's building towards. And if anything it inspired me to break out the G1 cartoons. It was interesting to see how at least in some ways the first season of the G1 cartoon reminds me of Siege. At least the best parts.

I could barely stand to watch the first episode.

When Prime jumps in to the middle of all the decepticons and tries to fist fight Megatron you lost me. Like, WTF are you doing Prime?

    I wanted to love it.
I went in thinking I would love it.
I couldn't watch it all in one sitting.

Your thoughts sum up my own perfectly except for one bit I want to add.

If Hasbro wants to be in charge of the entertainment aspect of this brand they have to do better than this.
I can't just think "I love Transformers so I don't notice the short cuts. I don't notice the flaws. My brain is filling in the gaps and this is awesome!"
    They have to do better.
They can't have the transformations happen in jump cuts.
They can't have every Decepticon voice actor sound like Starscream.
They can't have six episodes void of humor of any kind.
But most importantly, they can't have major plot points and character turns be caught in editorial errors.
I am referring specifically to Jetfire and Skywarp getting a reading on Impactor at the secret Autobot base of which Impactor had never visited and did not even know existed.
This leads to Jetfire's conversion from Decepticon to Autobot.
    This leads to Skywarp's death.
This occurred at the same time Impactor was renouncing the Decepticons.
I kept waiting for the reveal that Impactor had somehow doublecrossed the Autobots, but no it was all an error in the storytelling.

The characters were in vehicle mode at the time and they could have literally recorded anything other than "Are you reading Impactor's signal".
They could have changed the line to "I'm getting a weird reading". Something.
It was so easily fixed and it shows that no one cared.
They were just getting the show out the door.

It's bad entertainment. It's bad business.
It's actually insulting and it doesn't make me want to stay around.

The music could have been better. I think they played it safe. I thought I picked up on them going retro in parts but quickly swung out.

I enjoyed it for what it was, which was an advertisement for the toyline I love. It was really cool seeing the characters, since unlike the g1 show of my childhood, the characters on screen looked JUST like my toys. I was really disappointed by the general lack of transforming in the show. The show is about transforming robots. Maybe you should show those transformations a little more? But it was fun to see and it was outstanding for my girlfriend's 8-year old who is now heavily getting into transformers because of the show. (And I started showing him G1 episodes yesterday too)

I agree with all of the criticisms of this show. I think it was better than the YouTube stuff, but not by much. I couldn\'t understand most of what Soundwave said, and most of the Decepticons sounded the same. Optimus was OK, as was Wheeljack but all of the female characters sounded similar too.

The plot or writing was all over the place, quality-wise. I liked how Megatron was somewhat reluctant to torture Magnus at the start (and was swayed by Shockwave and UM\'s actions), and I liked how SS was treated as a \"tool\". However, Impactor was a Decepticon? Soundblaster was a mercenary?

The amount of recycling of complete character models for genericons/randobots was a bit too much, I felt. Why couldn\'t they swap heads and other parts around a bit?

Overall, the show was ok. More \"play in the background while on the phone\" than \"watch it on the edge of your seat\".

I mean, someone had to be the voice of reason cause clearly it wasn't Optimus or Magnus. :lol
Yeah, except that G1 Optimus wasn't voiced by an inexperienced 20 year old and didn't have the military experience of a rock.

How do you find him so much more experienced in the g1 movie? He just shows up runs in there, tried to fight him one on one to save the autobots.
