Yes! I agree, i just think at that time I was stubborn and use to optimus prime pretty much being the 'daddy' of the autobots. Not some rookie. They seriously need to get away from bumblebee!

Honestly my only gripe is that Armada sideways and Rid Scourge ( the g2 prime repaint)
didn\'t appear, when they put in so many good characters

Just so long as you skip the first 3/4 of season 1, you're good to go.

The rest has honestly been quite enjoyable even if there are the usual gripes.

    Still pretty cranky that
Skullcruncher is just a pet and not a character.

I like it better as it progressed. I love that we finally got to see more than your usual core characters.

I got around to watching season 2 and some season 3 and really enjoying it. Actually ordered a bunch of cyberverse figures because I liked it so much. In season 3 Hot rod, Clobber, Perceptor and Soundwave are great, dont think I enjoyed transformers characters this much since Beast Wars.

To the people who like enjoy Cyberverse, I say like and enjoy it. I don't think Transformers ever has to be any one thing except have transforming robots. You can do plenty of different takes on it. Cyberverse simply isn't my cup of tea.

For a more youth-oriented show, I usually preferred Rescue Bots...pre-Rescue Academy era.

Just finished. Wow! Felt like it needed another 5 seasons. It was just coming into it's own. Really liked it; and now I'll miss it.

"Anyone for a selfie? Cyberverse Arcee is a great example of characterisation through personality quirk, something we’ve not seen a great deal of since Generation 1."

A quirk does not a character make, otherwise everyone's complaining about the live action movie TF's having no characterization is BS.

Oh hey, the "End of the Universe" wasn't the end of the series! That's great. Looking forward to a few more Cyberverse episodes. Although, that 4-parter was so epic it felt like a series finale.

I'm getting towards the end of Season 2, and I must say Cyberverse is really picking up for me. It feels like it's getting a lot more creative and clever. I just finished the party episode...that was freaking great!

Edit: I'll just go ahead and post my Season 2 review here:

Just pushed through and finished the season. Wow, that really improved during the second half. I actually really liked the first few episodes of Season 2, on the moon and all. But it started dipping for me after that. I didn't care for the whole "Starscream" gets the Allspark and gets powerups and all. It felt derivative of RID2015's Season 2.5, where Starscream powered himself up using Minicons and became the main antagonistic for a bit. And Combiner Wars, which featured yet another powered up Starscream as the main antagonist. I don't think I really like Starscream as a main villain...he's kind of a one-note character who's more interesting in a supporting role. Granted Megatron is sort of one-note too, but I find him more fun to watch as a villain. And to be fair, that part of the Season wasn't awful by any means, I was just a bit meh on it.

But once they got past that, Cyberverse Season 2 got really good. I really loved all the wacky standalone episodes during the Ark's trip to Cybertron. It would have been easy just to skip the journey and jump straight to Cybertron, but they used it to their advantage. I loved the party episode, I loved the surfing/Sharkticon episode, I loved the Grimlock/Arcee buddy episode, I loved the Titan episode, and I loved the "unspace" episode. Not only were they all fun premises, they also worked in a lot of good jokes and gags. And it provided a lot of a great bonding time with the Autobots.

Here are a few Season 2 notes:

Jetfire's design is awesome. I've never really considered the Cyberverse designs particularly "cool" (although they've very much grown on me), but Jetfire looked quite cool.

The visuals and cinematography have improved quite a bit. There are some fun camera pans and movements. When I think back to the first Season, I mostly think of deserts and forests with poorly-rendered trees. I'm sure there were some nice visuals, but I can't say they were particularly memorable to me. Here there are lots of nice space visuals and nebulas and whatnot. A lot of striking images that will definitely stick in my mind.

I totally saw the gag with the drone ships coming, but I still chuckled. Also, I love how there's apparently just an Autobot named "Red Five". Maybe that was just his callsign, but it's funner to assume it's his name, especially since everyone else introduced themselves by their real names. Also, he was the first to die, like a red shirt. Was that a Star Wars reference and a Star Trek reference rolled into one? And was it all sitting on top of a GOTGv2 reference?

It's nice to see an Optimus that isn't always super stoic and serious. The party episode really felt like G1 cartoon Optimus.

Optimus' weird hallucination into the Matrix was trippy and visually great.

I'm mixed on Cheetor. I liked him okay, but I feel like his "young guy" personality is sort of at odds with his "guardian of the Allspark" role. Maybe that was an intentional contrast, but I can't help but wonder if they could have used some other character in that role.

Wheeljack is quickly becoming a new favorite of mine. I lol'ed at Optimus' "All the Wheeljacks agree". I don't know why that line was so funny to me. There were actually a few lines like that.

Cyberverse had so many awesome concepts and ideas. Their version of the TF/quintesson war is my favourite to be honest, definitely also the whole matrix reference in season 3. Would have liked it to have wrapped up a bit more thoroughly. I am still not sure whether Megs died or not?? One thing Cyberverse has that elevates it in my mind is a certain mechanical shark

Season 3 is definitely the best season of the show.

I think they left Megatron's fate ambiguous, just in case they ever decide to revisit the show.

    Also, welcome to the forums!

Fingers crossed for a movie to wrap it up like they did with Prime

And thanks so much, been wanting to join for a while. During lockdown there’s finally a bit of time to interact with the fandom

I wish everyone who dismissed this show read this. It is a great show and would be mandatory viewing for any fan. Lifts in so much from earlier shows, yet finds its own voice and does some very original things.
I just wish we had a 4th season. After the quintesson's defeat, the rest of the season seems a bit rushed, like they were told late they need to finish quickly, and the final antagonist barely appears in one episode before being defeated. I would like another season, possibly dealing with Unicron.

I would not skip S1 either. Plenty flashbacks deal with character moments or things that will be important later - Maccaddam's bar, Alpha Trion passing the Matrix, pre-war life on Cybertron, why Shadow Striker hates Bee, etc.

Ugh... GI Joe Resolute was what the "buckets of blood" fans want, IE the people who think the new Castlevania show is great only because it shows gore, sex and violence aplenty.
I was never a big Joe fan but I hated Resolute. A really predictable plot, tons of characters killed off for mere shock value, and barely any character development. To me that's NOT what mature storytelling is. Mature shows, IMHO, are like Young Justice, Thundercats 2011, Gargoyles... Oh and another, far better GI Joe show - Renegades. I learned far more and started to know and love the characters from that show than I ever did in Resolute.

Give Cyberverse a chance. So what if the designs are simplified? So were they in Animated too...

I only remember the commenters from Megatron's twitch stream (hilarious that he has one) where he mourns for Starscream's death, which he blames on the Autobots (when actually, he killed him) - oddly enough, all the commenters on his stream have the nicknames of Lovecraftian Elder Gods...
The show is on Hasbro's youtube channel too. And unlike many stuff they air, this is not region restricted, at least not to Europe.

Your comment reminded me of Star Wars: Clone Wars show that started in 2008. The maturity shows when the senate sessions are shown properly, being both ingaging and significant to the overall plot.

And yes, I've praised and will continue to praise Cyberverse for introducing some modicum of politics to the Great War instead of it being a free-for-all until one side is completely annihilated. The negotiations episode in the second season is one of my personal favorites. It's so surreal to think of Optimus and Megatron who actually attempt to negotiate a truce on a regular basis, however unsuccessful that effort may be.
Also, yes, props to Megatron streaming a tribute to Starscream to improve Decepticon PR situation. Decepticon Propagandist approves. (and sweet Primus, I did NOT notice that the Elder Gods were the ones commenting on that things)

Something I like about this show is how it follows a sort of G1 progression.

decepticons -> final battle ala 1986 movie -> quintessons & space adventures

Overall I think it ended up a solid series

Behind all these changes I, personally, didn't even realize that it's, at the core, mostly a reimagining of G1. I did catch references and similarities, especially the moment when I realize that the end of Season 1 basically established the iconic status quo of G1, but I didn't think of it in such terms.
...I blame it on the lack of Unicron in favor of reimagining Quintessons. But you'll hear no complaints from me - I like that fresh interpretation of the Quintessons and would like it to be carried over to future installments of the franchise, thanj you very much. Man, even Hot Rod as the hero of Season 3 fits the G1 bill so neatly.

I just finished the whole series last night! As someone who was kind of "meh" on the first season and initially didn't want to watch any more, I must say the following two seasons got really good, I got really hooked. I think the best parts were the last third of Season 2 (which I've already covered) and the first two thirds of Season 3.

I really loved the Quintesson arc, that was super cool and trippy. I loved the concept of the parade simulation, and watching Hot Rod try to convince the other Autobots to transform. That was a fun idea. A parade is a neat setup, because the Transformers are unlikely to transform while watching it. I also really loved the visual style of that story. All the reds and blacks made it look really distinct. I loved that goofy Quintesson scientist, and the big Titan battle. That whole story actually felt very epic, in a way that many recent Transformers stories have lacked. Although it's a bit weird that the Quintessons didn't seem to tie into the creation of the Transformers at all (at least, I didn't pick up on any lines relating to that). I guess this was an alternate universe version of the Quintessons.

I thought the second half of Season 3 felt more like an epilogue than a story of its own. Which is fine. I actually really liked some of those individual episodes. I thought Wildwheel's backstory was super fun, and the episode about the Crystal City and the knight felt very trippy. And I did like the finale with the alternate universe Megatron. I do think this could have benefited from an entire season though. It felt a bit rushed. I was sort of getting flashbacks to the finale of RID2015...I felt like it should be super epic, but I just wasn't as invested as I should have been. The whole "hunt for Windblade" felt a bit like a Prime relic hunt, and I'm sort of glad that didn't go on too long. I don't think this part of the season will stick with me as much as the Quintesson arc, but it was still more than serviceable.

If I'm going to make a couple minor complaints, I didn't really like this take on Ratchet. He was actually the only character that stuck out to me as odd. He seemed more like "eccentric nerd" than "grumpy doctor with a heart of gold". I don't think it would have bugged me too much if other characters differed from their classic portrayals, but most seemed to be trying to capture that. Ratchet was sort of an odd-man-out. I also think the short runtime occasionally affected serious moments. I felt like two deaths especially should have gotten a bit more screentime.

Overall Cyberverse went from being a show I didn't really care for to a show I'm quite fond of. I do think the first season is the weakest part, although maybe I'd like it better in hindsight. But I think the show really benefited from an ensemble cast. It was fun to jump around to characters besides Windblade and Bumblebee. That just feels more like a Transformers show. I liked the large amount of characters, and I thought they were balanced very well. The voice acting got really good. I really grew to like this version of Megatron, he was a lot of fun.

I would definitely say check this show out if you haven't. Even if you were initially lukewarm, I'd say stick with it. I almost gave up during the "Starscream power-up" arc in Season 2, but I'm glad I didn't...it gets much better. And if you find it too boring, maybe just skip to "Escape from Earth" and watch until "The End Of The Universe IV". That was when I was most invested, at least. That's when the show finally clicked for me.

As a whole I'd probably give this show a 7.5/10. With the best parts being an 8/10. I'm still trying to debate how it stacks up against RID2015. I still legitimately like the first season of RID2015, but the following seasons got kind of boring. This got more interesting. I want to say I'm leaning towards this being better, but I think time will tell more than anything...I'll have to see how this ages in my mind.
