Well, looks like TFSource shipped my using that UPS method where they deliver it to my post office, and USPS delivers it to my house. The delivery estimate was Thursday. Since I have a UPS My Choice account to keep tabs on my driver's location UPS emailed me and told me I could upgrade to regular UPS ground and that it'd probably come a day earlier if I did. The email suggested it'd cost around $3.50. Now, I don't need it a day earlier, and USPS has traditionally been fairly reliable in my neck of the woods, but with their recent troubles I figure $3.50 is probably worth it to just leave them out of it. So I logged it and clicked upgrade, and it turned out that the upgrade was free. Maybe because I live so close to the USPS hub that it's like six of one and half a dozen of the other to them.

Did some tests. Shoulder ratchets are fine on mine, Vola holds his place without concern. Could be tighter but eh bout as good I usually expect from larger toys.




Volatus himself is absolutely fan fucking tastic, quickly become my favorite to handle of the set. Transformation certainly has a fair few steps, some minor clearance stuff to get use to with the leg panels and some tight bits but overall very satisfying and showcases some truly genius design in some spots. Love how everything in all 3 modes tabs and locks so firmly together.




And while I don't care for the animation error head myself I am glad I asked the boss to keep it for those that do, its a great little dumb nod to the stupidity of the toons production. It comes in a separate little baggy in the main claim shell so when you take out the shell make sure to be aware of it in case you drop it.





Lack of ankle tilt also not a bother he can stand in an A pose just fine regardless. On a design note that made me laugh, I can't believe the real shuttle wheels literally fold behind the fake shuttle wheels, that's some goofy shit only g1 mps seem to do just like the wheels on takaras magnus.  

Colors turned out gorgeous and THE EYES ARE PURPLE (well violet technically)

 

I think that is simply the best looking Blastoff period. Absolutely amazing looking figure. It has become quite difficult to not go in on this set.

 

I know what you mean, I almost bought the Zeta version because of how the combined mode looked but I wasn't crazy about the styling of the individual bots. Looking at MMC's I told myself yeah, that's the one..lol. I just got some of my Assaultus set today. Haven't transformed them yet. I'm just in awe of how they look. Today was a little busy for me so tomorrow I'll have more time to play around with them. I can't wait for the other 2 to come in. I see Blastoff is available but I'm going to have to wait till Brawl is released so I can take advantage of the free shipping from TFSource. (I forgot their MMC names, I rather call them the character they represent). Looking forward to seeing the next combiner they do. I hope it's Devastator

 

That's my experience as well. Will hold poses just fine, even with the gun, but it doesn't take much effort to cause it to drop (like a soft tap).

Next one should be Protectorbots/Defensor where they've shown some renders already, a much needed to be filled gap in most people's collections!

 

I am super picky on Blast Off, he's my favorite Combaticon, and I totally agree- this one looks great. I didn't go for Zeta and UT sets because the 'bot modes just didn't do it for me but I LOVE the bot modes on these, and that's what they'll stay in most of the time.

 

Not a screwup... you just forgot to order the second set for the others.  

 

I remember Paik 4 Life did show an ankle rocker in his livestream preview of Volatus. Did MMC remove it? Here are a few screen grabs of Paik's video. I guess it is a stretch to call that an ankle rocker.

 

That's not an ankle rocker its a mid shin bend that is a compromise of sorts due to the very specific and intricate way the legs are designed which involves a lot of hinged moving pieces so it makes total sense why a traditional joint wasn't possible. You can indeed use it but I find its a little impractical a solution.

I loved him in IDW.
I hope he'll come with his decrystalize cannons. But I don't remember him using it the cartoon, so chances are slim.
I wish MMC released toy versions of these Ocular Max toys.
I love their Onslaught, but I'd prefer a toy deco.
Excited for Brawl too.

 

Oh are those the cannons kinda like the ones that came with the other Scramble City car types? Yeah he probably won’t get those. I’m sure they’ll include references to design choices in the toy, but that seems unlikely. Doesn’t fit with the utility of the set.

 

I think I'm looking forward to Hot Spot the most. It will be interesting to see MMC's take on the big guy. His Fire truck mode varies a lot in terms of comic, show and original G1 toy. Just little things like the 2 sets of wheels at the front of the toy whereas comic and show have only 1 set. Same goes for ladder assembly in robot mode tucked down at back or facing down. Hoping MMC sway more to toy accurate including black head in robot mode, not blue.

 

I never had any of the Protectobots as a child, so I'm super-stoked for any/all of them!  

 

Brawl also doesn't seem to come with them  
Altough they are referenced in his design as you say.

It's a pity only MMC and X-transbots have done combiners in this size system.
I hope X-transbots does another one.
