A curious question --- what other characters this mold might be repainted into?
I only know there is a black nemesis prime from Hasbro, but that just includes the truck without the trailer, right?

I never watched Armada, so not too interested in this original colour scheme, in fact I think it's kind of ugly as shown in the below screenshot... however I might be interested if it's repainted to something else.

 

Not another character, but you'll certainly get your non-standard colors repaint. There isn't an Armada fan out there that doesn't want him in his Mortal Combat colors.











This colorscheme is iconic to Armada fans. Aside from being an homage to Optimus Primal, it perfectly expresses his character's dark state at the time, where he accepts the Cybertronian condition and his hunger for battle, and discards the Matrix to attempt to prove he doesn't need its influence to do the right thing, yet it's Megatron who chooses to fall to end their rivalry so Unicron can't feed off it. Prime was fucking vicious in his final battle with Megatron, not to mention he just looks absolutely metal.

How is this "Mortal Combat colors" different than the nemesis prime colour? Seems the base colour scheme in both are black.

 

These are 'power up colours' he got in the second half of the toyline/anime. Same time as the traditional Megatron-to-Galvatron repaint. It's not Nemesis because it's got no teal.

Yeah, this colour seems more interesting, not the traditional Optimus Prime or Nemesis colour which I have quite a few.

 

If you notice, the toy and anime have a good number of differences too, namely the mouthplate and grill. I'd love to see which they opt for if they do this. Or see em all with Photoshop. Seth Sundey in this thread by chance? I know I spelt that name wrong sorry

 

Yes I noticed. Also on this pic you posted, the mouth plate postion seems weird, is this a PS colour?

 

Nah, the toy's talking gimmick was probably jammed or something in that picture.

 

The original Armada Optimus toy has a springloaded talking faceplate gimmick, the mouthplate can sometimes end up offset because of it.

I never noticed the Primal homage damn. I was always focused on how much Armada's animation improves by the end.

Mine's been offset for almost 20 years.

 

Now you mention it, I love gow they held off on promoting the Supercon repaint until this final episode. It would have been easy enough to repaint Prime after the Nemesis Prime encounter, same as the other Powerlinx repaints. But by holding off, the new colours are a visual representation of how Unicron has corrupted Prime when he issues his challenge to Galvatron in that final episode, and their fight is repowering Unicron by itself.
