Now, I think MS has the superior bot mode, but NA's version definitely has the better coloring.



Other pros: while MS did bother to do a different head for Viewfinder, Spectro and Spyglass' heads are just a recolor of the original head. Newage though not only does the faceplate head for Viewfinder, but has actual unique heads for the other two:

Also, I think NA comes with better accessories (unique pistols instead of MS' rifles). It is disappointing it does not come with a miniature version of a reflector camera.

 

The toy version looks great. Can’t wait to get them in!

 

I had trouble deciding between the toon and toy deco. Settled for the toon and loving it. And now my boy wants the toy deco for Christmas. Problem solved.

 

Is it too much to hope that the added flash attachment has light-and-sound effects like the zoom lens?  

 

really wish they included the mini camera with this release as this would be the only set i'd pick up.

how are they in size in comparison with NA insecticons?

 

Heh, unfortunately not.

Bigger, but they don't seem significantly bigger as MS Reflector against the NA Insecticons.

More comparison notes: I think the NA version looks more solid in camera mode, with less obvious seams, though I'm not sold on the proportions. But the transformation is a little more fiddly and things don't fit as well together as MS.

Also, it wasn't until I transformed him that I realized the bots had ankle tilt!

 

You may have mis-transformed your NA Reflector. The sidebots ought to have rotating pieces in the backpack that complete the green trapezoid above the lens  

 

There are two flip out tabs on the center bot that connect to the two sides. Also there are small hinges you rotate on both outer boys to match the green in the middle. @JeremyGui shows it better than I can tell it.

 

Ah, thanks, I think I got it now:

Though it turns out I still missed flipping out the tabs on Viewfinder (though the camera mode still held together just fine!).

Anyone finding their Relectors joints are quite tight? Think they're awesome though!!  

 

I just don't get why they didn't hinge the arms? If they'd done that, it'd have completely blown MS out of the water.

yeah if they had just done that i might have picked that set up.

 

To be fair, like I said that particular step seems extraneous since they seem to hold together just fine without it.

But yeah, those elbows are unfortunately a bigger eye sore than MST Reflector's duck feet, which is why I think MST takes the crown in the bots look contest. As I've said though, NA's toy colors look so much better, so if anyone is looking for an excuse to get these, go with the toy color (even if you don't get a tiny toy colored reflector with it)

 

Hoo boy. My criticism of NewAge still stands. Their figures are absolutely gorgeous, and fiddly as hell.

Hopefully the tolerances will loosen up as I transform it. But man. getting everything to line up was an enormous pain in the ass. Especially the little pegs under his arms.

Any tips on how to pop out those panels on the insides of their lower legs without a spudger? Or like, a coke nail?

 

sorry, spudger and coke nail are both are mandatory if you are a serious 3p legend figures collector.
