He shows up in episode 6. I missed him the first time, too, since he's only onscreen for about five seconds. It's during that montage of a bunch of different characters while Prime and Megatron are giving speeches.
    Thanks! :)

I’ve now finished the show. It was okay. I’ve seen better Transformers series. I’ve seen worse. There were certainly a few shock deaths.
I was almost positive that Magnus was going to live at first. Initially, Megatron was pointing his fusion cannon at Magnus head and I thought it would have been cool if Megatron blew it off only for Magnus to startle the Decepticons by shedding the Magnus armor, transforming into his truck cab alt mode, and re-emerging later as White Prime with his real head intact due to the way the toy transforms.
I also wasn’t entirely pleased that Skywarp was haphazardly killed off. Couldn’t it have been some other generic seeker like Red Wing or Hotlink?
Speaking of generics, I wasn’t too pleased when they killed off Moonracer and she was revealed to be just a recolored Chromia. I know they used a lot of recolored bots in the background for this series to save production time, but when you actually name a specific Transformer couldn’t you at least get her head sculpt right, even if it’s for a two second death cameo?
I wept for Impactor. I just wanted him to Wreck ‘n’ Rule, ya know?
Also, how did Soundblaster’s goons not register any weapons on Cog when he literally transforms into guns? That seems like a huge oversight in their security.

Those are really just some nitpicks. There were parts I enjoyed. Like I mentioned before, the reference to the opening of the original cartoon with Wheeljack and Bumblebee was cool. I enjoyed Impactor’s story arc. Starscream’s ambition was on full display.

Watching on a smaller screen like a phone - gives it a very fine comic book kind of aesthetic - no idea if they authored it with this in mind, but it's rather nifty imho

Going to try it like this + Japanese for a different third watch. Criticisms remain, but after being somewhat underwhelmed initially, I am enjoying this more with subsequent watches... no idea if this simply by design lends itself to the different formats I'm trying and/or whether my (probably over the top) hopes are now held somewhat in check.

I think a smaller screen certainly shows a comic book inspired screenplay/shot planning and camera use, rather than film/anime - perhaps if not the greatest cartoon series, this could perhaps be the best animated visual novel...

...It's not going to get rave reviews, but I really hope they get the budget and motivation to continue, learn how to communicate more passion, dynamism and pacing --- and who knows hopefully one day explore smaller scale character specific stories with episodes/mini-series... As critical as I may be about the current execution; there's so much potential here.

When Astrotrain was shown briefly, and was enormous, I was expecting the episode to end with Megatron and his troops hopping aboard Astro’s train mode, chugging along and launching into the air in shuttle mode and leaving Cybertron in pursuit of Prime. It would have been a nice homage to the G1 movie. Maybe they’ll begin Season 2 that way?

My biggest criticism of the show is the dialogue. So...deliberately....drawn...out...
Along with that I was surprised to see so many voice actors used because I honestly thought the same four people were doing all the voices - they just didn’t sound very distinct from one another. I think I’ll try it in Japanese like others have suggested.

Also I really want a metal 20 sided die sculpted like the Allspark now. :D

Show was a huge hit in this house. My daughter screamed when Elita-1 showed up (she has the Combiner toy and only knows her from season 1 of G1 (I think that is right... somewhere in G1 )). Boys loved it. They thought it was so cool how the siege toys they have look IDENTICAL to what they were seeing on screen. Well done Netflix and Hasbro!

I really got a kick out of the new show. Felt like whoever wrote the episodes took the brand seriously. I love how 'Mad Max' Cybertron felt - like everyone had sort of given up on it ever reaching its potential again and just wanted to forge whatever they could out of the wasteland that had been left behind.

Only thing that really bothered me was the ending. It just felt like there needed to be a seventh episode - more time to elaborate on the Guardians, the power of the AllSpark, etc. Was there a reason everyone thought the Ark was destroyed? Didn't it just go through the spacebridge like normal?

Magnus in disguise was legit the funniest part of the series...although unintentionally.

Maybe they thought all of the ashes or whatever that were floating down were what was left of the ark? I agree though, it was a space bridge portal so I don’t know why some floating debris would make everyone go, “They dead.”

I can’t find the post asking about Prowl and Ironhide but they do appear...in the last 2 episodes?

Tbh I don’t mind Optimus being portrayed like that. Makes him interesting like G1 Rodimus?

In the original G1 series, Kup also mentioned Optimus struggling too when he became Autobot leader.

    Darn it...I can’t recall?

Yes! I agree! I watched the first few episodes in Japanese out of curiosity and the voice acting was so much better and consistent!

Yeah, I really like how Megatron is becoming more ruthless and evil as the series progresses. Gives a small insight of his past...in a way.

Wow! Yeah, you’re right about Optimus’ VA. I noticed that during the last 2 episodes.

Yup, in the Marvel comics Unicron actually pluck a Galvatron from an alternate timeline to do his dirty work.

I kinda agree with you. Because its pretty obvious that Omega would make an appearance and tbh I felt the Autobots didn’t need his help to get away...the writers could easily let them escape in the Ark with Elita-1 holding them off.

I’ll seen worse deus ex machina in other shows and manga (JoJo chapter 3 is one example).

Yeah, the first 3 episodes were slow buy my boys and gals enjoyed the final episodes. Paced picked up quite abit especially in the last 2.

There was a silhouette of a Guardian still looking at Prime while he was driving off, and after Omega comes in and explains why he decided to fight I thought it was pretty clear what happened. Maybe they could have foreshadowed it better like having Omega actually be acknowledged in the scene with all the Guardians or having one dissenting voice (that would've turned out to be Omega) but it didn't come completely out-of-nowhere.
Well, she did put her hand on his chasis once...but I definitely got the sense the war really strained their relationship since it was turning them into two different people.
Sideswipe was kind of needed to have an Autobot to contrast with Mirage after he had changed his perspective on Impactor after the prior episode (or was at least trying to be more fair to him). It would've been weird to have that be Springer.

With most of the characters having multiple copies of their form on Cybertron...almost like different races... it is possible there are existing bots that might share Ultra Magnus form.
Magnus may have been wearing the cloak to to hide the fact he was the Autobot military leader from the Seeker Patrols as he traveled to the arena.

This. Granted the series took a bit of a dive in writing in its last 1 seasons (and don't get me started on how badly they handled the gay characters) but a lot of hard work and talent went into the series.

Back when I said I wanted a TF show on Netflix years ago, I had Voltron in mind.
    Not Siege.
Thats another problem with Siege, some characters don't feel like they've been at this as long as they're presented as.
Optimus feels like he's been at this for a few months with how inexperienced and immature he is, while Jetfire who has been a con long enough to be commander of the airforce is just NOW realizing that Megatron is insane. These are things that they should have overcome a long time ago, not at the end of a war as long as theirs.
