This is basically how retail sales work. The businesses know that most of their customers will wait for the sales but for those that don’t know how to play the game they’re simply extra revenue. the business model is based on this.

 

I just got my Fort Max about 2 months ago (before this whole COVID lockdown phew) and was playing out with the sound. My question, how do you get the sound module to say "Emissary!" ? It seems to work once or twice but never again afterwards..have been frantically trying ever since

 

I could be wrong, but doesn't he say that when he's plugged in firmly as a "tower?"

There is a little button that gets pressed in by a tab in the tower section on Fort Max, and I think it triggers a different bank of sounds.

 

Yes,only in tower mode. How often can you it to say "Emmisary!" ? If there is additional button other than the 2 tabs where the headmaster slots in , I might missed it.

 

I'd try it manually.

If you turn Emissary upside down and look, you'll see a small gray hole. Take a paperclip and press and hold that button in, and while its pressed in cycle through the various phrases and see what happens.

 

You gotta make sure Cerebros is plugged in correctly to Fort Max in tower mode. There is a little tab where he plugs in that should press a little button in cerebros. It takes some finesse to get him plugged in right, but that unlocks the tower sounds including "Emissary".

 

I have yet to see Toyhax have another sale. Did they change their sale frequency? I still want the label set for Fort Max but I’m not paying $45 for it.

 

AFAIK they've moved from the rolling sales model to a kind of points-based loyalty scheme.

 

Has anyone painted his eyes red?

 

Even better than that, I opened up Cerebros to get to Max's goggles and stuck two small rectangular bits of HIQ Parts' self-adhesive polarised decal 'Mirage Green Seal' over his eyes.

Unless his head is at such an angle that enough light shines into them that it reflects on the back of his eyes enough to shine out his eyes look like this:

...when reflection overcomes the polarising they look stock clear but with a more reddish tinge, and as you see in the video activating the lights also does the same.

EDIT: If red is your preference though you may want to go for HIQ Parts' Mirage Red Sticker, which would give your Max more reddish orange eyes when not illuminated. It's the closest you'd get to red that would also maintain the light-up gimmick.

 

That’s unfortunate. $45 is steep. I’d pay $25-30 for this but anything above seems too much. Maybe I’m wrong because I recognize a lot of work goes into the design of the labels. While there is likely no back stock of these sheets because they are likely printed as ordered, I’m surprised there aren’t some promotions of any kind.

For those that have the Fort Max labels, am I wrong? Is $45 reasonable for what you received?

 

I'm afraid I did pick mine up during a Black Friday sale event but I was also Max nutty enough to have already organised a custom set because I wasn't a fan of some design choices in the Toyhax Max set, and I bought it at sale as I was using it to supplement that set for some bits my custom set lacked.

 

Would you have paid full price?

 

If I hadn't had a certain aesthetic choices difference with it, probably, yeah. As it is I've definitely paid more than that to decorate my big fella overall but he's one of my favourite TF characters and I thought the stock version I got underserved him YMMV?

 

I appreciate the insight. Maybe if I get a slow month of collecting I’ll pick it up at full price. Some of the interiors are just really cool.

 

Does anyone know if there's a custom titan master Fort-Max head I could replace Cerebros with?

 

Does anyone know (or can they check) what the size of the Autobot logo decal for Cerebros' chest is supposed to be? And what's its backing/border? Chrome finish? Or black?

I lost that decal off my sheet when I was putting the stock stickers on my Fort Max a couple years ago when I got it. I think I'm at the point now where I might want to display Cerebros in his robot mode with my growing collection of Headmasters-era characters and would be willing to pick up a cheap sheet of Autobot logo stickers from somewhere like Toyhax if I can know that the sheet I'll get will have something on it that at least looks halfway similar to the actual sticker that it would be replacing for me.

But I don't want to buy this $45 Fort Max specific sheet that people have been talking about That's too much for me even before factoring in the exchange rate

 

It's a roughly 6mm tall metallic backed badge with a black border & outline. Plus the Cerebros portion of Toyhax Fort Max set is it's own $5 set but it only comes with the somewhat-controversial circuit pattern backed glow-effect 'Bot sigh IIRC so possibly wouldn't be what you want in this case.

 

If its a factory decal, PM me, I may have it. A fellow here used repro labels and sent me his extra sheets.

 

My kids broke the the ramp that attaches to his back and creates the "entry" in base mode. Does anyone have a spare they are willing to sell or an STL file to 3d print something?
