Don't feel like writing a giant essay about this series. Most of the users here, and moderators here have said already negatives about this series I agree with.

Here's what I liked: The sound design makes them feel very powerful, the cameras are very cinematic-like a few shots, and the first three episodes feel solid on their own.

What I didn't like summed up: The voices *talk* very, very slow. I never felt any connection to any of the characters because they feel so static, Macguffins once again make their way into the story and take up mindlessly half of it, and the faces display no emotion on the character models whatsoever. Speaking of the characters, there's never any real introduction to them if this were your first TF series. In general their personalities are just confusing, because it feels like you needed to watch something else before watching this.

Also, please no more "grim dark gritty stories" that shit really needed to stop at Prime.

One of the easter egg/homage that I noticed was how they started off the first episode, where Bumblebee and Wheeljack was finding energon just like the first episode of the G1 show started off.

I just finished it and my list has changed...

    1) G1 (aka God-Former's)9.5/10
    2) IDW (aka Bible-Former's courtesy of mainly James Roberts and Simon Furman)9/10
    3) WFC/FOC (Story Campaigns) 8/10
    4) WFC Trilogy Series Netflix 7/10
    5) TF Animated (I loved that episode that had Team: Charr in it). 4/10
    6) Cyberverse (I was able to sit through the 3rd season) 3.5/10

With a greater budget and quality Season 2 could really go places. But I doubt they will.

    AHEM....
Animated Ratchet? Who was trying to make amends for mind-wiping Arcee? In protection of the OMEGA Project? Where he basically was forced to teach a newly created life-form to be a war machine?
Like, where did you think they got that idea for Ratchet from, having him making amends for past damages he caused?

This is true, but it also makes sense to consolidate 84 Hound and Mirage's powers under one character called "Mirage." Likewise, making Hound more of an offensive guy and Ironhide a defensive guy makes sense based on their names. Obviously this is a different take on G1

Most of the people who like this show will be (not here, but on IMDB/Rottentomatoes/etc) folks our age who will go "this is like that show about transforming robots I watched 30 years ago, but more serious and better looking! Hey I remember the camera guy of whom always there were many! And there was this one episode where Optimus had a girlfriend on Cybertron! They remembered that!"
Aka, it will be popular due to nostalgia. Same way Castlevania is for some reason popular, because "hey it is like that pixelly sidescroller game I played as a kid, but now with blood and tits and swearing!"

But the show otherwise slavishly follows the original G1 and modern interpretations like IDW... so why change such crucial parts? Why make Bumblebee into a grim survivor character, for example, when even the current IDW comic made him the cheerful friendly guy?
I did not mind the changes to characters in say, Cyberverse because it was clearly not meant to be G1, but a melting pot of shows and characters from every TF series. This however, is very much like G1... except then it makes such big changes. War For Cybertron - the game - did not do this, for example.

I am nervous on this show but at the same time I'm curious on what this show "entails". "Oh it might be crap" "Oh it might be good but not really a 10/10" kind of mindset.

Here's another plot point criminally underexplored. Soundblaster is a clone of Soundwave and the result of a Shockwave experiment. Ok, interesting. How does that tie into all the other robots who share the same body type? Are they also clones of an original? If not, do robots who share body types "naturally" discriminate against the clones? Is there prejudice? Why were the clones made - was it to be extra troops? Are they made for their parts - is this a Never Let Me Go / The Island situation? What relationship do clones have to the original robot?

All this stuff could be so rich. But again, it's just mentioned and then never comes up again.

Eh, Castlevania is popular at least in part for the world and the gameplay style Symphony of the Night incorporated into the series. I'm not a Castlevania fan, so I don't know how well (or if at all) the games have stuck to that formula in recent years, but there are more factors to the enjoyment of it other than swearing, bloody tits. Unless you're talking about the Netflix series, which I think people like because of its really good animation.

Just finished it. My initial thoughts:

    Cons:
    - Optimus’ dreadfully slow delivery and awkward phrasing; it sounds sooo un-natural. Who talks like that in real life?
    - I couldn’t understand a single thing Soundwave was saying...had to turn closed captioning on for him. C’mon, surely vocoder technology has improved since 1984?
    - A lot of slow scenes in the first three episodes. I understand a certain mood needs to be developed, but I actually fell asleep for a bit during ep3, lol.

    Pros:
    - I’m no expert, but the animation looked great to me. Well executed in general.
    - Starscream was fantastic. His delivery, attitude, everything: spot on. Bravo.
    - Megatron: I liked their take of making him sinister but still holding on to some old soldier code. Gave him some unexpected depth and complexity.
    - Bumblebee: thank the maker he can actually talk! Liked what they did with his unique character arc.
    -
Omega! The Guardian scene where they are all standing in the mist was a very effective visual, and I loved seeing him come to life at the end!
    - The chase scene of the seekers going after Jetfire was what really woke me up from being partially asleep, haha. Great scene...makes me wish there was an equivalent car chase scene somewhere too, and just more fast pace action sequences in general

Overall, despite some of my gripes, I really did enjoy it. I’m going to watch it all again soon so I can absorb in greater detail.

I always forget how hyperbolic TF fans can be with criticism.

    A couple things:

This show is 1000% aimed at a wide audience. They've advertised it on various social media platforms and kids oriented marketing.

I'm beginning to think some wanted to dislike this going in. I'm seeing a lot of complaints about factors of the show we new going in long ago.

I really wish we got 13 episodes.

I hear complaints about the dialogue sounding robotic and well... I'm nor sure how to even take that seriously.

This might be my favorite version of Megs period.

It sticks out how much Elita and Arcee differ from their toys , makes me wonder if they reversed the process for them.

I REALLY dont see the voice complaints
Ratchet, Jackie, Bee and Mirage in particular sounded great.

I didnt care for how easily the seekers went down at times.

Stand out characters for me were: Jetfire, Elita, Starscream, and Soundblaster.

I love that Soundblaster is his own character.

Overall I loved the series and look fwd to part 2!

I was pretty happy with this season. There were some things that i was not expecting at all that were a really good surprise, and i think the voice acting was waaay better than how perceived in the trailers. Castlevania had a really short season 1 when it started, and then it grew into a really big and amazing show after the later seasons fleshed out. I think thats how this is gonna be.

Reading posts like these makes me glad that I decided to skip this show altogether. I don't mind dark stuff, but man, stuff like, IMO, TFP and the Prime Wars trilogy (and apparently this show from what a lot of people have been saying) it's that they're not dark, they're bland. Beast Machines is the only Transformers show that I would consider dark and mature, because it had characters growing up and learning to get accustomed to their new forms and abilities.

However, the fact that the basic essence of some characters is basically thrown away (Bumblebee and Ironhide in particular) as well as Megatron and Optimus being just as boring as they have been for a long time are things that I really wasn't surprised with while reading the posts.

If I ever give this show a try, it'll be because of Starscream. Again, I feel this is the character even the worst shows manage to nail perfectly.
