Is it just me, or is the voice acting just... not good at all? It's so stilted and emotionless. The delivery of some of the lines are so, so flat.

 

It's binge-watching time!

When it comes to my reviews, keep in mind that I tend to "grade" shows fairly leniently.

WFC Siege: Episode 1

Spoiler: MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING

-Hi, there, Bumblebee and Wheeljack.
-Is that Thundercracker, or just a random Seeker? Whoever he is, his flashlight looks cool.
-EEE, the Transformation noise is back!
-Bumblebee is huge. And grumpy.
-Wheeljack's voice is passably similar to his G1 voice. Is he whispering, or his voice just really quiet?
-Wheeljack messing around with space bridges is appropriate for his character.
-I'm not crazy about Bumblebee being a mercenary. It seems like that role would fit another character better.
-Hi, Skyfire. Your voice is kinda weird, but you do at least sound intimidating.
-Starscream! Your voice is actually good!
-Oh, hey, it was Thundercracker earlier. His voice is a little...overly processed maybe?
-Holy smokes! Skyfire just cut Starscream's arm off with his lightsaber!
-Skyfire being the leader of the Seekers is interesting.
-Starscream, never change. He's the one character they always seem to nail.
-"You would be dead by my hand".
"You mean that hand?"
That actually made me chuckle.
-Starscream talks about loyalty. Always fun (and ironic). It does seem that the Seekers are more loyal to him than they are to their supposed leader, which is interesting.
-Decepticon infighting allows Autobots to (almost) escape. Some things never change.
-Megatron's introduction is pretty effective.
-Megatron roasts Starscream. Guess that never changes either.
-Skyfire is scary. That's something I thought I'd never say...but here were are. I am disappointed that he and Starscream don't seem to have ever been friends. I liked that aspect of both characters in the G1 cartoon.
-Wheeljack is still talking in his whisper-voice.
-Megatron's voice actor is actually pretty good, even if he's also got a weird whisper-voice.
-Hey, Optimus.
-I will admit, I actually cheered internally when Wheeljack used Optimus' old "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" quote. It may be a cliche, but since it wasn't Optimus himself saying it, it actually worked.
-Starscream is easily the best part of the show so far.
-Why does everyone have such heavily-processed voices?
-Megatron's acting has been good so far.
-And Optimus Prime's voice acting isn't as good.
-Seriously? This again? We're never getting away from the "Optimus and Megatron used to be friends" thing, are we?
-That being said, I'm really enjoying this Megatron.
-LOL at Skywarp (or whoever) doing a fist-pump in the background of the fight.
-This is not a very interesting fight. Mainly because Prime is just getting his behind handed to him rather than actually accomplishing anything. I assume he's supposed to be inexperienced, but it's a bad look on him.
-Also, Prime's voice is really not very good. It's to the point where Megatron, although obviously evil, is a thousand times more persuasive than he is.
-Hey, Elita.
-Also, a generic Seeker got his head blown off. It struck me as more comedic than it was probably supposed to be.
-Prime, please stop talking.
-Megatron, stop yelling. You're hard to understand when you do.
-Seriously, Prime, shut up. It's painful.
-Well done, Prime? Elita was the one who did all the work!
-I actually like Elita's voice. I can understand why she's mad at Optimus (because he's had a terrible showing so far), but it's too early to tell if they'll make a convincing couple.
-Prime, PLEASE stop talking.
-Wheeljack just swore. Why? It can't have been a ratings thing, because it's not rated particularly high (TV-Y7). Or, conversely, how did that get past the censors? Did they just assume that it's based on a toy franchise, so it must be aimed at kids and they therefore don't need to check it?
-Why is Bumblebee such a jerk? (Elita and Wheeljack are jerks too, but Bumblebee being a jerk is the most jarring).
-Nice holographic base disguise.
-Hey, it's the Ark.
-Okay, Wheeljack's finally stopped talking in that whisper-voice. Good.
-Random generics! Who look like Hound and Mirage!
-Ultra Magnus also has a random whisper voice. His voice-acting is okay, though.
-Okay, Optimus doesn't sound quite as bad as before. The show sure is treating him like a stupid military leader, though.
-SIDESWIPE! YAY! (Either that, or it's a generic. The fact that he has Sideswipe's paint job makes me lean towards him actually being Sideswipe, though.)
-Wheeljack's actually fairly in-character so far.
-Red Alert is a medic because of...reasons I guess. I mean, there were medics named Red Alert in the Unicron Trilogy and Animated, but G1 Red Alert, whom this guy looks EXACTLY like, was the Security Director, not a medic.
-That being said, the fact that he isn't a jerk is a relief.
-Sideswipe generics!
-Hi, Chromia!
-HOUND!!!!
-Bumblebee, stop being a jerk.
-Elita, you too. (Although I do agree with her about this Prime).
-Prime, your voice is still slightly off. It's not terrible....oh, never mind, he shouted and it's bad again.
-Hound, why are you acting like Ironhide?
-The funny thing is, I agree with Prime on a moral level, but the show clearly doesn't, which makes it hard to like Prime.
-Megatron has a good speechwriter. And a good voice actor.
-No, Elita tried to assassinate you. Prime just got his butt kicked.
-Wow, Megatron has a Seeker cult.
-LOL at Megatron knocking Starscream aside.
-Skyfire's voice is kind of weird. It almost sounds like a Starscream voice, just lower-pitched. His character has been interesting, but I'm not crazy about his voice.
-Starscream, I love you. Megatron, you too. LOL @ "His arrogance I actually like".
-"Prime's only weakness: his overdeveloped sense of honor!"
-Magnus' cloak is stupid-looking.

Overall impression: The Decepticons are handled really well; the Autobots are largely jerks or idiots (Wheeljack and Red Alert get a pass. Elita gets a partial pass because of how annoying this Prime is.)

 

Yeah, it wasn't a surprise. It was just a bit clumsy.

 

I hate the fact that it seems the decepticons wasn’t even trying to look for the allspark.

 

They may have had a decent story but the animation style wasn’t good in either case. Neither one had a very big following outside of the fandom.

 

Expect greatness!

 

Spoiler: plot point so spoilered just in case

Once Megatron found out Optimus was also looking for the Allspark, he openly stated that they would just let the Autobots do the work for them.

 

Watched the first episode and I find it to be okay. Some of the voices are off.

 

Just wrapped. It's pretty good. Will watch it again before Earthrise if not sooner. I think as something designed to give a toy line context it works great. This was kind of the idea with the Prime Wars but it's executed much better here where the character models actually look like the toys your buying and a story that's a little easier to digest.

 

What does that have to do with the quality of the shows?

 

I believe it was for the trap and it seemed he was surprised when he found out they had the allspark

Almost everyone: The voice acting is bland.

Well no shit, I've been saying that since Hasbro got cheap in Cyberverse.

 

Riddle me this, for those who have already watched. If I ask my wife to watch with me, will she hate me for it? Do I need to sneak into the back room and watch with headphones on hoping she doesn't walk in?

 

They were glorious, weren't they? This show is just begging to feature Overlord with in-depth lip-development like this. Truly we live in the future!

 

One episode in, I expected worse.

This is pretty solid so far. Save some rather cringey moments.

 

I really liked it. The most conflicted Optimus Prime I\'ve ever seen. \"We are not Decepticons!\" Love Wheeljack and Alita1. Also the Sexiest Arcee I\'ve ever seen in a Transformers cartoon . Damn, she\'s Thick! Really want to see the Japanese version.

 

So I just combed through for any hints at the Wave 2 Spoiler pack, and nothing, unless they\'re doing a super minor repaint of Shockwave, theres absolutely nothing in this show that hints what that leader class could be.

 

The Ratchet/Impactor stuff was interesting, and the animation (besides faces) was better than I expected. Those were the only real positives in my opinion, unfortunately.
