So, let me just start by defending my stance by saying mediocre does not mean shit... My opinion was the alt mode looked okay...but only okay. What I will concede, though, and admit where I was wrong... While typing up another response where I said something to the effect of you can admit where a figure doesn't shine and still like it...yadda, yadda...I went back to the first post to took another look at the alt mode. That didn't change my mind any, the alt mode still looks meh...but what I did come across that changed my mind was this:
    FansToys FT-42 Hunk (Masterpiece Brawn)
That alt mode looks goofy...but guess what? It also looks a helluva lot like this guy's! I went and found a toon image...same thing. I can't fault FT for making it accurate to the source model. The alt mode wasn't the closest they could get, it's what they set out to do...and they did a pretty good job of accomplishing it. You can disagree with their choice and argue what you think MP 'should' mean, but that's another argument for someone else to make.

Thanks for elaborating. That is totally fair and makes sense. If you find the alt mode just boring or whatever, I can get behind that. I was interpreting the mediocre part as being a mediocre representation of Brawn.

I just ponied up myself... Netclow is one of the few Chinese sellers I'm absolutely confident in.

(Baba, I'm still waiting on the Capone I ordered in March...)

Just got him out of his box and I don't know how I feel about him actually. I mean, he certainly looks the part but I can't say that I'm thrilled to have him in hand for whatever reason. I'll fiddle with him later this evening and maybe he'll grow on me, I don't know. IMG_20200729_164237.jpg

I do love the contrast in height between him and Phoenix though.

    Humility? On the internet?

Be gone ye devil, away with ya!

Seriously, fair play on the reconsideration.

I'd also point out that the door on that model would open, it's just a different sized and shaped door than a regular car or 4x4. It's got a step up first, is all. So, fugly or not, it's not hugely improbable, or impossible to use etc.

And I think it's clear that TT only real-world the vehicles that are based on actual vehicles, not ones that are generic - generic sports car Hot Rod, generic carrier UM, etc. Why is Brawn any different?

I think it's a rose tinted nostalgia that people see him as a real vehicle. As was pointed out when I mentioned it, he's a generic Jeep type, but his original toy wasn't a real Jeep, nor anything else. He's a 4x4, and if that terminology had been in the worldwide vernacular at that time I suspect that's what it'd have been badged as.

I can't imagine TT having Brawn as a licensed vehicle, and if they did, the vehicle would not be the one his toy was based on (it doesn't exist) or look like the cartoon version (ditto) - and there would be uproar at making him something he never actually was...

Exactly! Wish I could "like" this 10 times. Masterpiece has NOTHING to do with real world accuracy. It's only a feature of a few carbots. Plenty of MPs aren't accurate to any realworld counterparts. Rodimus, Hotrod, Ultra Magnus, Grimlock, Laserwave, Bumblebee 2.0, Red Alert, Star Saber, Inferno, and Dinobot to name a few. They exist merely to satisfy cartoon accuracy. Hunk does that.

I just got this figure. Looks great. Brawn was never the coolest looking character so it is what it is and now I have it. I do have to say that I love how the gun locks into his hand via that slot thing. It's a brilliant approach and I hope they do that for every figure going forward

I felt exactly the same... After transforming him I still feel exactly the same. There's a strong possibility I'm just not that much of a Brawn fan though.

Has TFSource gotten their stock in yet? My order page still says "not shipped" and I was wondering if anyone else ordered through them and received their shipment yet. Thanks y'all.

Brawn isn't really a charming character, so I can understand not being "wowed" by this. In the cartoon he's only really had three great moments: Insecticon rodeo, shooting megatron with his own canon, and his death in TFTM1986. Hunk really boils down to an expensive background character for most people's collections. Had Final Victory put just a little bit more effort into their figure, I would have probably gone that route instead of Fanstoys. Same reason I went with Openplay Springer instead of Fanstoys'. Both look great, and I got Openplay for $20 instead of $150ish+.

Anyway... I know it's crazy, and I doubt they'll do it, but I would easy play $250 for Hunks remolded into TMNT like the NewAge figures. Would be AWESOME. Throw in Sovereign remolded as Shredder, Acoustic Wave as Kraang and Fanstoys could grab a whole new crossover demographic!

They just got me a pre-order. If I had them in hand this early I'd be flooding the threads with pictures!

Yeah maybe, can't really put my finger on it. Transformation was pretty fun though so he's got that going for him.

Got mine in yesterday. I understand that different people have different preferences and sensibilities, but I'm kinda shocked that so many people don't like this guy. I think he's just about perfect. I love the colors, I like how solid the car mode is (and looks great, too), and I like how chunky he looks in bot mode. I absolutely agree that the articulation is really sub-par (especially the missing up-and-down toe tilt), but I can live with it.

My biggest problem is the same one that I've had with almost all of my Fans Toys figures so far: the lubricant. For sure, Hunk has way less of it than, say, Sheridan, but there are still many many joints that oozed lubricant when rotated. I tried to wipe as much as I could with a paper towel and a microfiber cloth, but those things still can't mop up greasy substances perfectly. Some of it got on my fingers almost immediately, and from there spread to other parts of the figure, despite my trying to be as careful as possible and constantly wiping my hands. I know that they used to get mocked for the Fans Toys Squeak, and this is a way to mitigate that. I know that a large part of their fan base likes to put the figures on a shelf and not handle them that much, and is perfectly fine with (or, indeed, even prefers!) the lubricant if it means having smooth joints. For me, it's a huge disappointment. It genuinely impacts my enjoyment of the figure to know that I can't just reach over and grab it to re-pose it or transform it without then having to wash my hands (or else deal with them feeling icky). Although - realistically - I don't have much time to fiddle with my toys anymore, and the main way I enjoy them is by glancing at them every once in a while, for me the biggest and most important joy of toys is still being able to hold them in my hands. I can deal with the overly-tight joints, the chipping paint, and the unfun transformations, as long as I can just hold my dumb toys in my dumb hands. I can always dip them into a jug of oil myself, if I want to.

100% agree, this is way better than the MP tab-into-palm approach. Whenever an MP figure has no thumb articulation, getting the gun tabbed in is an exercise in frustration - and even when there's thumb movement, it still takes some finagling. This rail approach is completely frustration-free. I guess the biggest downside is that it makes a wrist tilt (like the kind MP Sunstreaker has) hard. I do like having that joint, and would like it to become standard; I'm pretty confident that someone can sit down and figure out a good way to combine a wrist tilt with the weapon rail.

If you decide you don't want it let the fandom know. There are lots of people who want it and can't find it.

Mine was shipped on the 24th and should be here today. Hopefully you get yours shipped soon.

Edit: Ok, technically it started moving on the 25th since they printed the label on the 24th.
