I totally agree, and now I won't be hanging around in stores learning about and purchasing boardgames either. I was never "at risk" of becoming a Magic player, so all they did was lose money from me now and ensure I give them less in the future.

It’s sad because I had a blast at GenCon last year walking around and seeing other games. That Guy and I played a pretty interesting game but it was honestly just to pricy. But without the TCG, I probably won’t be going again.

also, decided to pick up another booster for the evening. Going to soak up the enjoyment and try to avoid the sorrow of knowing there will be nothing else new.

I am a big fan of the card game. Too bad being 5th place is not good enough to stay relevant. At lease collecting these cards is easier and takes up less shelf space than plastic toys. I wonder what other card games will incorporate triple sided cards, combiners, or titan sized cards?

I wasn't jut talking about the transformers card game. I was talking about all and any card games.
So your on the side: "if a card doesn't do as well as MTG or Pokemon right out the gate it's a dead card game."?

I mean, how many card games are there out there...? Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon?

These three TCGs are titans and have more or less crushed everything else in most of the world.

I hear KeyForge is doing well.

it’s funny because I was talking to someone about the way KF is put out and they think if TFTCG would have done a similar setup, it would have prevailed.

so is Marvel Champions, though it's not a PvP type of game nor a collectible card game (it's a living card game).

Marketing (or better said, 'lack of') was one of my biggest issues with Hasbro/WotC regarding this game. I cannot tell you just how many times I've brought it up with directly with Drew and the many, many e-mails send to the team at the Wizards Event Reporter division. They had a great game with massive potential to augment their income along side MtG. For some reason they're not disclosing they behaved with a characteristic similar to not caring.

I'm just grateful they made such sweet looking set of cards to be honest, I generally bought them just to see what characters I got and the artwork. Wish they could make more sets but I'm happy such a thing even existed at all.

While it may not be "short-lived" since it ran from 1994 up to 2006 (part of it being a revised/2nd edition), the Star Trek CCG from decipher is still alive via the fan-community. Up to this day, entire expansions are published (digitally) on trekcc.org: The Continuing Committee

There was also a fan community for the Star Wars TCG from Decipher. I think it may still be in existence.

Here's an article by a team member on the fan project we are working. It's a group of us that really enjoyed large competitive events like Origins/Gencon/EI and are hoping to keep it alive online (currently we have 2 ongoing tournaments averaging 50 and 30 players each) and meet again in person in the future.

Ironically, TCG product can still be purchased on HasbroPulse (except for Energon Edition and Wave 5) but not on Hasbro's eBay store.
