I'll be getting the MS Metallic Soundwave but that picture was hilarious!

Also, let's be honest, it's not like this is unique to Magic Square. I own two versions of NewAge Jazz because they announced the deluxe version RIGHT after my order for the regular version shipped.

I generally don't go in for repaints - my primary interest with Transformers has always been the transformation, not character representation, so I'm more than happy to have multiples of a character if the transformations are sufficiently different/interesting. So, under normal circumstances, I wouldn't buy two identical molds in different colors; I'd rather spend the money on a new mold. In this case, however, I got both MS's Soundwave and Soundblaster because (1) I wanted Laserbeak enough that I thought "oh, what the hell", and (2) let's be real, I'm not making very rational buying decisions during these pandemic times.

Having both in hand, I thought their Soundwave looked much better than the photos made it seem, but also turns out that I like the look of Soundblaster so much more than Soundwave. It never even occurred to me how good this character would look in black! Also, I like the tinted chest panel more than the clear chest panel on Soundwave. So, ultimately, I don't super-regret getting both versions of the character (although it would have been nice if I didn't feel like I had to in order to assemble the entire Soundwave-and-cassettes team).

I usually don't like metallic paint-schemes (a little bit of it as an accent works for me, but top-to-bottom metallic is a little much for my tastes), but I actually rather like how this metallic Soundwave looks. So now I'm sitting here with Soundwave in one hand, Soundblaster in the other, and wondering if I really want to go in on a third version of this mold. I guess I could do that and try applying the dry-rubs to one of the Soundwaves; I've been holding off because I don't trust myself to do it neatly, but if I have two, then I'd be less scared to try.

Do we know when the metallic repaint's coming out?

Yup, I expect a few more variants but was a little surprised how soon this was announced. Honestly, I'd like a metallic SoundBlaster too but I don’t think that will ever happen. :)

Could be worse, these could be distributed like Hasbro. Took how many years to get a Sixgun for Metroplex and Cog for Fort Max? Look how many people bought Hasbro’s Soundwave mass retail like Titans Return and Siege versions to never really get a complete set of cassette bots unless you went after exclusives. MS at least did the main ones within a month of each other...guess you could call that the silver lining......right?

Guys. This is not new to any of us with any manufacturer.
How long have we waited for figures that represented the characters well in any size or scale? Decades...
We knew the manufacturers could do it. Certainly in the last 5-10 years. They just don’t. Because the more they tease the fans with an ‘almost’ product, the longer they can keep the gravy train running.
The whole strategy from all these manufacturers drives me nuts, but it is what it is.
I just wish once they hit a home run on a figure design, they’d quit releasing the same character in different decos 10 times and focus on the redecos we really need to be moving along, ie. Prowl from the blue streak mold that is right there, ready to go. Or get focused on the next mold that they can redeco, ie Ratchet/Ironhide.

I want all my season 1 g1 characters damn it. Lol.

There's real metal in that metallic paint, like gold and diamonds and stuff, that's why it's 50$.

All kidding aside I would have been happier in the high 30s to low 40s honestly, 50$ seems like a bit of a gouge.

Yeah...I may not get that after all. Or I might wait to see if it eventually comes down a bit, or forces the non-painted version's price down. I'd gladly sacrifice the roller-probe tape for the metallic plastic, but I'm not ALSO paying THAT MUCH more on top.

Can anyone confirm if the ShowZStore preorder for the Metallic Soundwave will include the "red war eagle spy" bonus? I submitted the question on their site but haven't heard back yet.

Has any other store listed him yet?

Ordered a Metallic Prime yesterday. Can't wait to see the two together.
