Here is my own personal review for War for Cybertron Siege.

I specifically wrote it to be spoiler-free, but I do reference some details and references in the show at length.

    To sum up my feelings:

I think this is the best piece of Transformers media we've seen in years. It's a dark, mature story. Cybertron has a deeply layered lore and mythology, as do Autobots and Decepticon. There's a whole culture and history that's nicely in-depth.

Overall, good animation quality. I personally HATED the Prime Wars trilogy. So the jarring animation style is gone and since the show is immersive, we can finally get characters we can sink our teeth into again. We're not focused on awkward, clipping animation, and stiff wooden dialogue.

Overall, it's a decent voice cast. Good, but not great. I feel like the Prime Wars trilogy was just lacking in the actors actually being able to act. I felt like they were just saying the lines and not really playing off one another. It felt like there was a lack of emotion, performance, and drama. At the very least, the vocal performances have that in the show.

This is a bleak, dark story. I feel like it hues closer to the more modern IDW stories, the Marvel and Marvel UK comics by Simon Furman, etc. Decepticons are more than mustache twirling evildoers. Autobots aren't just white bread, virtuous heroes.

    Flaws:

    * Not really enough actual transformations. Some characters don't even transform at all, especially when it would be convenient and helpful for them to do so.
    * Weaponizers are present, but used I think twice. No Battlemasters, at least that I could tell.
    * Some subplots are introduced that don't get quite enough development. I can't really say more than that until after the show launches.
    * Story feels a bit lean at times. Like I think 2 more episodes would've rounded out the season.

There's already a review? Is it already available for watching in Netflix now?

According to an interview with them, it's because they're both union and Netflix classified the show as non-union.

Peter Cullen was NOT happy about that.

Interesting. My wife and I may give the show a chance although we both weren't all that impressed with the trailer, to be fairly honest. We like the IDW comics and if the tone matches that, cool.

Let me preface that this is just speculation on my part:

I don't know if the whole show was partially or entirely done as union or not. We do know the production company on the show, Rooster Teeth, is based in Texas. Texas is a right to work state. What that means is you cannot be denied employment on something because of membership or non-membership in a labor union. So, not sure where the voice actors recorded for the show, but they might've been able to find loopholes because the production for the show was based in Texas.

Now what I'm guessing is that Hasbro and/or Netflix wanted to save some money to get the show done. The Texas, non-union cast aspect might've been done to save the show some money to guarantee it either gets done on such and such time or for such and such money. I mean look at Rescue Bots Academy. They ditched all the clearly LA-based union talents who worked on the first three seasons for the new cast in Rescue Bots Academy.

I'm not making excuses for using non-union talent. At the same time, when you are making movies and TV shows, sometimes sacrifices have to be made. It's hard to get things with an unlimited budget. These days it's rare to even get an action show like this.

But the problem is most actors like Cullen and Welker have to do union-only projects. SAG-AFTRA doesn't like it when their talents do non-union projects or projects that try to exploit non-union work or right-to-work state laws, et all. I would say that's a big reason we don't see Steven Blum in as many anime projects as we used to. They either can't afford him at this point OR they are using a non-union cast.

Granted, I think the cast for WFC actually did a lot better than recent shows. I felt they were actually emoting and getting to drama of their characters rather than just reciting their lines.

Well the good news is that it's only six episodes, so you can really knock it off in less than an afternoon. It's basically like watching those season opener miniseries from the 1980s or 1990s shows.

Yeah, but then again... the actual toy truly is a lazy token gift for passionate Dreadwind/SGMF Buster fans - I had to fix this myself with 3D printed parts for a more accurate representation: Heavy/Scratch: - G1 Style sets for Dreadwind & Darkwing

Also, that mold is an earth jet mode. As the review stated, that's probably why characters like Wheeljack don't transform because they lack the CAD data to represent a Cybertronian altmode.

Here's a question btw: How is the music? Both the intro music and general OST?

Would you say that the voice acting in the show is much better in the actual show than in the trailers? Or is it pretty much exactly that? I also had an issue with all the voices sounding exactly the same in the trailers. Sorry if all this questioning is inconvenient, but did you also attempt to watch it in Japanese? They have some serious talent behind the voices, and I'm seriously considering watching this is in a different language because I can't stand the trailers.
