Got mine in and handled it for a bit, including a couple of transformations. I think for me MS Megatron beats out NA Megatron as the best legend sized G1 Megatron so far. I prefer the MS robot mode by quite a bit and I also like MS gun mode a little bit more than NA's. I'm a bigger fan of NA products than MS products in general (though I do like both companies), but this is one instance that MS is the clear winner for me. I do feel like the "nylon-ness" of the plastics shows through more than other MS figures I have while posing and transforming. During one transformation back to robot mode, the pistol barrel's base got stuck in the shoulder joint because I pushed it in too far and I basically had to pry it out by pretty much warping a lot of the plastic around the area, so that was not good. I'd go for an MFT OSKO of this figure since they use pretty nice hard plastics these days and this figure would benefit from that.

Overall, it's a great little Megatron. Legend scale stuff are really amazing these days.

Has anyone tried toothpaste on an MS figure like @lilcarus suggested? That seems like it would be abrasive enough to make a difference without scuffing things. Interested to hear if anyone tries it.

I haven't decided yet. I think they're both excellent efforts that would look great in anyone's collection. Of course, I also had to buy some extra pieces to cover up Agamemnon's back and the gaps under his chest plate. I do like Doomsday's bulkier proportions better. Now, Despotron was my first 3P TF, and while I do like his beefier frame, the design shows its age (I mean, in my pic I even replaced the hands and head). MP-36 may be a little skinny and high waisted for some, but I do think it looks more "masterpiece" in no small part to being a newer design by two years.

I bring it up because I've said before proportions wise Doomsday is kinda the Despotron to Agamemnon's MP-36, but since both MS and NA's legend Megatrons were designed around the same time, Doomsday certainly doesn't seem as long in the tooth next to the NA version as Despotron does to MP-36.

The MS version prolly looks better overall in my eye, though I am disappointed I can't sit him down on a throne because the back of his legs are so huge. Also displeased you need MS Megatron's fusion cannon to form his big gun. I like MP-36/NA's version where the silencer barrel can mount directly to the stock. While the big gun does look a little weird without the fusion cannon mounted on top like a giant scope, I at least don't have to leave MS Megs Fusion Cannon-less.

Yes they all are. I'm thankful some creative fanatics put up these 3rd party companies. The official/licensed products just don't cut it. Designs and engineering of this level is what I was looking for

 

i would not hit this with sandpaper. even with a decent mix of grits. i think it would stand out like a sore thumb. it might be way too easy to give this an unwanted grain.

i really think toothpaste alone or even baking soda mix would be the best thing for this issue.

if that doesnt work a good old fashion cutting compound will most definitely work.

also i think it might be an isolated issue. a lot of the megs i see on weibo dont have this issue.

sorry that this info is too late for you now, but one of the chinese review video mentions and shows you how to get that pistol barrel out safely without stressing or damaging the plastic.  

 

Thanks for the heads up. I didn't really end up doing any damage to the area, so I'll check out some of the videos to see how to extract the piece if it happens again.

Having seen the metallic Soundwave announcement, it's safe to say this guy will be getting the same treatment. Can't wait to see. Wondering if they'll do metallic colors of the toon character or if they'll to a toy version, or possibly both. I'd also bet that, if they do a toy version, they'll include the squiggly chest and toy face like MP36+.

 

God I hope so. Toy face would be an instant buy, I might even get two.

 

Judging boy their "Toy" reflector that only had one of the three faces remolded, I highly doubt it.

 

Yes but Megatron is far more marketable than Reflector, it's already been done by Takara MP, which 3Ps just love to rip off, and MST Megs already has the swappable chest plate (again, ripping off Takara with the damaged alt chest) so it'd be easy to do the toy look. I'd honestly be surprised if they didn't. As far as I'm concerned, the only question is whether their metallic repaint will have the red abdomen and forearms (it'll have to be the tops of the forearms like MP36+ due to the way he transforms) for the toy look or if it'll be a more traditional looking Megatron done in metallic colors.
