I'm thinking about getting this set too. However, I wouldn't plan on using the red tail light plugs. I enjoy putting blast effects in there too much to cover them up.

So, I gave Wheeljack a second look because Exhaust looks really good in the brighter cleaner white. But Wheeljack is here now, and not on a digital storefront, so this dingy off white will do...

I'm really impressed. I knew the transformation going in of course, but it's really satisfying in hand. That point where you have the upper half of a robot and the front half of a car, and you swivel the two halves really underscores that nice contrast of where you were, and where you're going. Add in how quick and smooth the process is, and you have a real winner.

He's really expressive, the car mode is generally pretty clean, all good. My only minor gripes are the gap at the back of the car under the spoiler, I get the impression that that material was left off the shoulders so they didn't clip the backpack in robot mode, but it was also left off of the backplate so there wasn't an additional wide tab behind Wheeljack's head in robot mode, and it could further deemphasise the small wings. That gap, and the choice of shade for the white plastic are my only drawbacks. This one's a winner.

I received my gap filler parts for Wheeljack today. I'm in awe of just what a difference they make. But I'm curious, do the white leg covers need to be removed for transformation??

I can't for the life of me get his head to fold down for alt mode. I really don't want to force it. It looks like the little tab at the back under the notch is getting in the way. I thought maybe if I undid the two screws on his chest I could split the front from the back and reposition the head flap with the tab above the notch but the chest doesn't want to come apart. I'm assuming my only other option is to shave down either the tab or the notch. I would've preferred to shave the tab but I can't reach it as it's inside.
Anyone else who had the problem, what did you do?

You just have to force it; my copy was also scary tight, to the point I thought I was missing something about how you fold the head down, but the only solution was to really torque it.

It gets easier after the fist couple times.

    The way I do it:

Moving it from alt to bot position: Push the notch near the back with my thumb, with little force
Moving it from bot to alt : Push the notch near the back with my thumb from INSIDE (so you open the chest first), that generally requires little force.

Thanks for the replies. 'Force it' is never something you want to hear when dealing with a shiny new figure, especially when there's not really a great place to apply that force. Anyway, I did apply force and it did eventually move. Then I quickly gave it a couple of light rasps with a nail file to remove the threat for next time.

So now, other than the cannon being a bit loose in the fist hole (ooer) the figure is totally fine. None of the other problems people have highlighted.

I didn't apply Force that much, well, slightly but it's more akin to when you're trying to pull two lego blocks apart :3

Does the shoulder cannon have a 5mm peg for vehicle mode storage?

It requires a lot of force. I actually cut the tab on his head panel as the tab in front is held in place by the chest piece.
