Picked up Energon Starscream off my shelf and this piece on the back just snapped. Sigh.

 

Bummer! I’m amazed sometimes that some of my old stuff is still holding together as well as it is. I haven’t had many break...but I have concerns that one day some of this stuff is going to crumble to dust...

 

Yes. I picked up RID Air Attack Optimus Primal after a long time and his leg shattered  

I still have the pieces in a plastic bag... can't bring myself to throw it out.

 

Device Label Tigatron, Ravage and Cheetus have broken my heart over the years with their ridiculously fragile jaws. In fact Cheetus broke upon opening and his body proved very fragile too.

 

A few months ago I decided to play with Protoform Starscream and one thumb snapped off, my first experience with Gold Plastic Syndrome. Also a piece of her heel randomly broke off my 2007 movie Arcee last month.

 

2 of my classics minicons have bit the dust recently. The black cop car and the motorcyle. Sad cuz i kinda liked the cycle

 

BW 15th anniversary Dinobot had pieces crack off after transforming it. Very disappointed

 

Had a string of issues with DotM Voyagers. Shockwave's ports crumbling, Skyhammer's gun handle snapping off, Megatron's joints seizing up preventing me from even getting him into either mode, much less actually transform him.

 

The Skyhammer gun handle snapped on mine too! I was experimenting with different weapons to give my CW Onslaught a rifle to use in robot mode and maybe for Bruticus, and as I tried to take it out of his hand it warped and just shattered. I thought it was just the tolerance of his 5mm grip and the peg itself.

 

I was handeling my revenge of the fallen voyager Fallen figure and he crumbled good to the point of no repairs can be made also my Prime dreadwing has had breakage around the nosecone of his jet mode for some reason

 

The cockpit canopy on my Titans Return Weirdwolf just broke last week on the hinge, but I caused it by not firmly holding the part before rotating it because I wasn't paying attention.

A couple months back I decided to transform Torca and put him in a few poses, but now his arm is no longer attached. At least I can blame that on GPS.

 

Legendary OP isn't that old. Tried to transform his gun and the hinges all snapped.

 

80% of my collection has been in storage for a few years now, and the other 20% has been for the last year. I’m terrified of once I get everything unpacked eventually to see what damage was done. Tried to keep everything safe as possible but I’m sure there has been casualties.

 

I'd be surprised if anyone would say that they didn't hate it....


The worst part, is that most are hard if not impossible to replace unless you sell a kidney.

I've had a few lately and every time I want to go in a boxing ring with a individuality entity of Hasbro and beat the crap out of them for making the toys cheap enough to break after just a few year of gentle play or simply break by looking at them (almost).

Seriously.. Hasbro, you have the money, pay for a proper lad to test the plastic formulation, and also, just add that extra 0.1 mm of thickness that could re-enforce the part properly.

I have to admit that lately (fora few years now).. if I like a toy/figure in particular and see it on special/liquidation (sometimes not even), I'll pick up a spare.

That has saved me at least 3 times in the last 2-3 years,

But also, I will try to repair, or mod the part to fix the toy... with varying success, so far, most did work out but not all.

 

My vintage Rattler, the.plastic feels like it will crack of I stare too hard. Other than the gun cover falling off to go who knows where, my Night Raven feels as good as it did 31 years ago after a few initial boo-boos (drone tab broke, fin on bomb pod broke)

I remember how pissed I was getting my TM Megatron out of storage and he shattered as I picked him up. That was my first taste of GPS. I heard the Takara version didn't have the GPS issues but the current value makes it unfeasible. I keep hoping that Hasbro might reissue the mold someday.

More recently, my Energon Demolishor (dump truck) had both arms snap off at the elbow. Both arms were made of clear plastic so that is why I'm a bit nervous with clear plastic figures. Especially those with clear plastic on questionable joints. It sucked but I wasn't as torn up about it as TM Megatron.

 

A few weeks ago when I play around with some of my figures, the translucent blue blade part within the Automorph Plasma Cannon weapon from my 2007 Movie Deluxe Concept Camaro just snaps and breaks off.

The figure by itself is still perfectly intact despite some joints getting loose, but the weapon itself is now permanently in Plasma Cannon form.

 

I have a really old KO Raiden that is just disolving. Almost like the plastic is turning to goo powder =( I'm afriad to even touch it anymore

 

I wonder if this is due to CHUG using lower grade plastics that'll just degrade over time? Could be intentional to cut cost.

I'll be interesting to see how long the current CHUG line will last.

 

Same thing happened to me during mid-transformation. Damn Plastic Gold Syndrome. I loved that beast mode so much but now it is forever in bot mode
