Personally I prefer to go with springs as one never knows what plasticizers may be present in a modern rubberised product, and rubber can itself also be perishable.

 

I used erasers to fix Generations Select Turtler shoulders/King Poseidon thighs from being so sloppy, with the weight of the torso and arms it really helps him stand better. Just cut an eraser up and trim appropriately to fit.

This is what I used for an Abominus fix. Easy to find with elementary age kids. They did wonder why I was cutting up their eraser though.

 

The worst thing about this toy is that the tail has difficulty staying connected when in scorpion mode. Same thing, times a hundred, for the purple collar, but also in robot mode. These are fairly minor criticisms.

Unrelatedly, I know that the directions say to lay the scorpion legs flat in base mode, but I prefer to keep the legs in their compartment. That way...


... there's a snake pit...


... that you can drop small (Legends or Battlemaster) 'bot prisoners into. It adds a bit of playvalue. I learned about this from a PrimeVsPrime video.

 

It also looks like some kind of grinder.

Got mine last week. Finally got around to opening him. He's amazing. I always forget how big these guys are until I have them in hand(s). My other thought was, my mom would have thought he was amazing too. She was always amazed at the engineering that went into them. From the simplest one-step to Omega Supreme last year. Now I've gone off the rails in a review thread. I apologize.

 

Just got ER Scorponok in yesterday from Toy Dojo. Here's a comparison pic with Sentinel Gigantic Action Scoponok.

 

This guy is pretty great and is neck and neck with Omega Supreme for my favorite of the size class. Now I just need a third party accessory set with at least a rifle.

 

After watching some review videos, those ankles did make me a bit nervous. I'm glad that they seem to be able to hold his weight but my worry is that joint weakening over time with all that weight in robot mode on just that joint at the forward part of his ankle. I wish they had included some extra support strut or panel on the back of his leg to help support robot mode a bit more. From what I have seen, I know there are panels that connect on the back of the foot and ankle but I couldn't tell if it provides any extra support. That being said though, my Scorponok should be here tomorrow and I cannot wait.  

 

At least in the poses I put my copy the rear panels rest on the feet and provide extra support.

 

The ankles are fine and feel very sturdy.

 

Just opened mine. Wish the shoulders were tighter but they don’t flop. Thanks for posting the tips on how to tighten them on the previous pages!

Wished it came with a semitranslucent visor and the big orange gun! Articulation is pretty good, I’d overlooked that it had double jointed knees so that was a present surprise in-hand.

I wish it had spring ratchets instead of the hollow spacers being used. Overall, impressed.

 

In people's opinions, which is better scorponok or Omega supreme?

 

If anyone is still wondering about gluing in the collar piece, do it. Definitely solved the only issue I had with the figure

 

I think Omega Supreme has the better base mode but Scorponok is a triple changer with an amazing scorpion mode. In robot mode Scorponok is more posable but Omega is a bit more solid due to overall tighter joints (at least that's the case for my copies).
Personally I prefer Scorponok (bigger, more articulated and I'm more connected to the character) but they are both great figures.

 

Currently, Scorponok for the "new" and "wow" factors. Omega Supreme is a better self-contained unit and no official extra accessories needed. OS also has more base connections (TR and AIRLock types).

Scorponok's robot mode has much better proportions. He still has a good base mode but not as interactive as OS. Having him be a double Headmaster was a great idea and bonus. Despite the head kibble, Zarak is already one of the better WFC Deluxe figures.

Scorponok, however, needs some more accessories if you want to truly match the G1 toy. Hasbro is releasing one of them officially as a separate Deluxe figure: Fasttrack (tank and spear modes). So, he'll be $160 + $20 = $180 total investment. Some people, especially those with Decepticon TR bases, may not like the lack of TR connectors. Scorponok has 2 AIRLock connectors whereas OS has 6.

Omega Supreme didn't have much in terms of add-ons (except some crappy LED add-ons that REMOVE THE EYES..why?!)...which is a good thing. There is the tracks set by Nonnef but didn't have matching colors, unfortunately.

I imagine various 3rd parties trying to make sets for Scorponok, though, especially if you want to match all the G1 accessories. That may add onto the cost.

 

Ok here's a dumb question, how do I attach the tail. Seems the pegs are too small.

 

The hinge you're inserting compresses down a bit. Put on side in, then push a little to compress it and you'll find there's plenty of space on the other side.
