It's based on logic not emotion, I personally experienced a super awkward BotCon where we had to follow booth runners back to their hotel rooms after Hasbro banned 3P from the show floor. Play with a kid and his figures in the main room while daddy fishes contraband boxes out of the back room, then talk to me about how it might get weirder from here if Hasbro decided to make moves against them. But, sure call me creepy, I can handle it, Hasbro already made us feel that way anyway.

    Bingo.

Fill the gaps, but back off once Hasbro starts making something. Or be Perfect Effect and start making kits for official figures that make them more desirable and boost sales.

    When ko has good qc:
"See? KO can make good qc with cheaper price. That's why Hasbro is overpriced!"

    When ko has bad qc:
"It's not big deal because it's cheap. Hasbro stuff is overpriced and still have bad qc!"

Solid line of thinking. It was nice while it lasted, but I can't be the only person to have purchased something like BadCube Sunstreaker to then watch Hasbro dunk on it. How many people bought DX9 Carry, convincing themselves it's G1 enough, just to walk into the official reissue?

I ascribe no moral judgement on 3P, but when we play with fire, we can get burned.

Carry is easily one of the best 3P figures.

I’d still choose it over anything official.
Had a chance to get it for under a hundred and I hesitated too long.

I got a later production run Prime that is good and actually fits together properly. It took buying about 4 to get it though.

I've only bought 3P or OSKO since I started collecting a few years ago. I've got nothing against official, just that nothing official passes the standard sculpt, finish, or QC I like to look for. From Masterpiece to MPM. At least in regards to 3P all 3 are usually in some option. With Hasbro its usually failing in finish or build/QC for the price. Their ideas are great, the execution usually fails the hype tremendously.

Nothin official has replaced any of my figures yet.

I so enjoy when events like this happen. Not what is happening itself, but the reaction by the HasTak loyalists on the boards. It's about the only time most of them ever even glimpse towards the 3P forum, but then they charge over here on their high horses in order to feel superior to us knuckle dragging, IP theft apologists.

But let's face it... I think there's just a hint of jealousy there. After all, if they weren't so "moral" over the whole issue, they could be enjoying so many figures with the rest of us bottom dwellers. Right now, my collection has surpassed 200, and I would comfortably say that only 10 to 15% are official figures. If it wasn't for 3P (and the odd KO), I'd have got bored with this hobby long ago, as HasTak by themselves are too slow and too inconsistent with their release schedule. 3P keep this hobby alive for me, and even this late in the game, when nearly all my empty slots are filled, there's still 10 times as much "unofficial" stuff on the slate that's got my attention than upcoming HasTak stuff.

Also, at this point, even if HasTak were to step on the collective necks of the 3P community, and all production stopped tomorrow, most of us collecting this stuff are almost finished now anyway, with only a handful of missing B and C-list characters remaining. HasTak aren't going to visit each and every fans house and confiscate the illicit products, so these collections are never going away, and will just irk the loyalists with visions of what HasTak will never provide for them. They may feel superior in their ethical stance... but personally, I'd just rather have the superior collection.

Come on... join us on the dark side... you know, deep down, you want to. ;)

    Nope. None of the above.
Except: the tight tolerances it carries over from the Hasbro design.

Yeah, I was done collecting after AoE when I saw the prices and quality of TLK toys. Later I saw some pics of MPM Bee and Prime. I thought they looked ok. But when I saw Peru Kill, I was blown away. I was amazed it actually transformed. Eventually I got it and then, to go with it, got the MPMs. Peru Kill made two sales for Hasbro that they wouldn't have gotten without him in my case.
My Bee is fine, but Prime was awful. I had to replace him with a KO that fixed the bad qc.

Oh come on. Stop conflating 3P and KO when the people dunking on WJ have only ripped the latter.

    Good lord.

I think 3Ps will be fine. It's Hasbro drawing a clear line in the sand. What *could* hurt 3Ps is if any of the parties involved with the KOs are also involved with them. Factories, designers, etc...

Not really, ironically 3P is always more expensive here (Indonesia), that's why I'm sticking with officials. I do buy some upgrade add-on sometimes though.
