This looks better in bot mode than Fanstoys' version. It really does.

Stock, no way. Painted, I could see a possible argument. Both have their flaws so it's just a matter of which ones bother you more/less. But again, stock...just no. The white helmet is an absolute deal-breaker. I also think the white arms on this guy are too white, but it's not THAT much lighter than FT's, so...

Did anyone else have an extremely tight left hip ratchet? I took mine apart but it still barely moves. I’m worried about splitting the plastic.

Do you own this figure? These parts are not white. They're a blue-grey that is actually pretty close to how these characters were coloured in the G1 cartoon. I agree it doesn't look great (like many of the bare grey plastic parts on Hasbro stuff)... but it's better than white. I don't have the Fantoys, but from pictures, it looks much closer to white than the Final Victory version.

I hit the arms and helmet on mine with some gunmetal spraypaint. Definitely looks better. Did the same for Huffers arms and thighs -- which is exactly the same plastic colour. I suspect Brawn and Huffer were molded together and share their sprues, since the grey and the orange plastic are exactly the same.

Not on mine, though both hips are still relatively tight.

I dismantled it and took out the spring in the joint. Then a drop of silicone lube has it moving well.

I'm experimenting how to pimp up my Final Victory Brawn. I got one of the fusion cannons from collectorcrafts on e-Bay. And just for fun I asked him what would happen if the cannon was "full-sized" rather than "toon accurate". See below for the results. And a big thanks to collectorcrafts for running a variant fusion cannon size for me.
    fire on the mountain.jpg

First, they came nicely packaged. The regular fusion cannon, an actual MP-36 cannone that I had, and then the "full size" cannon that he printed for me.

The "toon accurate" cannon does seem a good match. Comparing to a real MP-36 sized cannon it is pretty tiny, but it looks good on Brawn's shoulder. I guess I shouldn't gt too concerned with scale when watching the original G1 cartoon.

That full-size cannon is almost more than the little guy can bear. The cannon matches the length of MP-36, but it a bit wider and chunkier than an MP-36 cannon. collectorcrafts could have saved a couple hours of printing if he was able to narrow the cannon to better match the MP scale. And maybe the size of the cannon wouldn't crush poor Brawn. But it's still cool to play with.

I broke down and got these guys a couple weeks ago. After a couple of paint touch-ups and decals, I'm happier with this set than I expected to be. Warpath still doesn't say "Masterpiece" to me, but he's definitely a fun bot to play with.

*Brawn had 2 loose pins, but a spot of Krazy Glue helped them to stop sliding. Only issue now is trying to get his arms to collapse completely in alt mode (something inside his shoulders isn't sliding properly)

    20210327_151347-1.jpg
*Huffer was the best of the trio.. Only had a shoulder peg that needed some thickening to keep it in place.

    20210330_142321-1.jpg
*Warpath's only real issue is the sliding panels on his turret. Very tight, and they like to slide more easily on one side of the track or the other. (gets cockeyed and needs adjusting in order to transform)

Overall, better than I gave them credit for in '18. In-hand, Huffer's "shoulder tires" don't bother me nearly as much as I thought they would. Great set for the price

There's a trick to getting Brawn's arms to collapse fully, but I always forget what it is. I also added a dab of glue to some of his windows (which have a tendency to pop out of the frames. I understand the utility of the half-open gripping hands, but I really wish they'd given Brawn some proper punchy fists.

As always, I really recommend doing the Huffer head mod so his helmet sits a tiny bit lower. Makes a difference, aesthetically. On my Warpath, the sliding panels get easier after a few transformations.

I got these as a three pack about a year ago. $75 for all three on e-Bay? Yeah, I like them at $25 a bot and wish Final Victory took a stab at more of the mini-bots. This Huffer is still "my" MP Huffer and I don't see any replacements coming soon. The Warpath and Brawn did end up getting upgraded (what's up with Brawn's helmet color?) but they can still hang out as my alt-modes.

I agree with Brawn's hands. Every time I collapse his arms, I do the hands first and then push the arms the rest of way. Makes me feel like I'm about to snap his fingers off when the arms fight me. (Currently looking for a set of donor hands from some deluxe class figure)

I would love to see them take a stab at the others. Their Warpath feels like it's a reshell away from being Seaspray (and not just because of his feet)

After sitting on the fence with the Final Victory bots, I finally bought Brawn and Huffer. They're sized well and hefty, but Brawn has some forearm issues for the transformation into vehicle mode. How do you actually compress the hands fully into the forearms?

Put his arms straight down at his sides. Push the hands into the forearms. Then push the forearms up while pressing the hands in place so they don't pop back out of the wrists. It's actually the bicep that collapses up into the shoulder.

Thanks for the tip about the biceps! Speaking of which, that was another issue with Brawn, a part of the bicep section was stuck within the shoulder unit. This had made me wonder why Huffer was able to bend and swivel his elbows and Brawn couldn't. After some pulling (thankfully I didn't break the arms off) I was able to pull the bicep part all the way out.

Well, maybe too tight is better than too loose.

Ah, that makes sense... yeah, you need to give it an extra firm tug to get the last bit to 'click' out to expose the bicep swivel joint, which sort of locks the arm at full extension. I remember the first time I did it, it was scary tight, but it's a little easier now. And of course, you need to make sure that same bicep joint is lined up neatly in order for it to collapse back up again.

Painted huffer, so I did brawn too. Just the helmet, hands, arms and elbow. Should have painted more parts on him. still love the torso design, but still hate the shit kicker boots... Paint definitely help out the FV figures some. Guess i will add white accents to warpath at some point too..
