It occurred to me last night that all of the extra 5mm ports we've had since Siege lets you do something kinda different, which I actually think is a bit cool...

A little more progress on the "upgrade upgrade"...

Apparently this part of a semi trailer is called the "landing gear". I was able to get a rough first draft of a replacement landing gear done. So far so good. I think I like this approach better than the little "shoes" I made initially. (Please excuse the shoddy print quality, this type of part is very susceptible to stringing and I think I might have some moisture in my filament which makes it worse.)

I'm also considering trying to design new feet for the outriggers that would fold up rather than having to be removed and flipped over. I'll have to do some investigating to see if it's possible.

Are there any other small tweaks or fixes that people would like to see for this kit?

For me, personally, all I feel I would need is the spacers for the wheels. Even the landing gear, I am pretty okay with the stock one. And if I was going to want a fix, I kinda liked the little shoes better... Seemed more subtle.

I can't speak for everyone, obviously, but I really can't think of anything else. Even the wheel spacers... Having installed my Nonnef kit yesterday, it looks fine as is and maybe it always will be. But for some reason, I feel like spacers would provide peace of mind if nothing else.

So for what it's worth, really all you need for the trailer's "landing gear" to be flush with the wheelbase is to cut down a piece of an old credit card or other plastic of similar thickness and glue it to the bottom of the feet.

Right now I've got slivers of an expired card stuck on with double-sided tape and it does the trick as a field test.

Once the Reprolabels get here, I'm probably gonna just about call it a day.

Might end up painting the trailer's mudflaps black and use some slivers of chrome Reprolabels along the bottom, tho.

honestly, the spacers are all I really need to fix my issues. The landing gear isn’t a huge deal, nor are the feet.

My understanding is simply angling the truck supports at a 45 degree angle (towards the slanted down side) remedies this.

    Someones review video showed this.

    Is that true?

    My set just shipped today.

btw: has anyone spray painted their rear door to match at all? If so, what did you use?

There are so many people who just think of a trailer is a superfluous accessory that just takes up space in their collection... But without a trailer, you can't have an Optimus who trailer-surfs into battle!

I don't really want Earthrise Optimus but after seeing this upgrade kit, I really want a Roller.

You could just get the Roller in the accessory pack Hasbro's putting out, then, I suppose.

Edit: Which I see the previous poster pointed out. That's what I get for starting a post before a super long commute home, and not actually posting until I get home... :p

I really don't see the appeal of the centurion drone thing. It's just not Roller.... at all.

It looks like a Roller to me... And depending on your tastes, will probably scale a bit better with the trailer than the Nonnef one.

That all being said, while I was a little worried about how big Nonnef's Roller was before I got the kit, once I had it in hand, I loved it. Yes, it freaking fills the trailer a lot more than you typically expect Roller to. But it isn't obnoxious about doing so. It also, since the trailer is actually probably a bit smaller than it should be, actually scales really well with Optimus himself. It's cool that you can stick Titan/Prime Masters into Roller. And Roller actually looks pretty kick-arse towing the trailer. (As seen in the last photo I posted.)

I do still want the accessory pack Hasbro's putting out for some of the other things, and can probably find that Roller a home with one of my many other Optimi. So, of course, when I went to Pulse last night to finally order the bloody thing after putting it off for a bit, it was sold out... Sigh...

(Kind of wished we lived in a world where, rather than limiting the number of pre-orders to a predetermined production run, they used pre-orders to determine the size of the production run. I guess Hasbro doesn't want all of the monies...)

With a week left in July, has he posted anywhere when he might restock the exhaust set? I want to get that and Wheeljack kits together.

He said he'd list them at the end of the month. So probably next week?

The talk of Roller made me want to jam a few Titan Masters into mine, something I enjoyed knowing that I could do, but hadn't actually done yet.

    20200723_213620~2.jpg

First time I've sat these two next to each other like that... In theory, Titan Masters are all the same size. They need to be to be interchangeable, after all. So kinda funny how the one that's supposed to be Spike looks like a child next to the one that's supposed to be Daniel. Think they got that one backwards!

Ok I stand corrected, didn't know the little roller was included and thought people were using the other figure as a stand in. Guess I need to pay more attention
