I know it was too much to hope, but one of these days it would be nice to think they'll make a MP "Black Convoy" with a different weapons array from Prime, maybe even a slightly different sculpt. So far my favorite "Black Prime" figures have been Transformers Prime Arms Micron Nemesis Prime and Power of the Primes Nemesis Prime for that reason. Considering the price, this is pretty underwhelming... I know there's a number of Black Prime collectors out there who want nothing other than this, but still...

    Particularly not interested.

Prime is a panelformers with a plastic not able to support the normal stress of the transformation in several places. This is a variation of the cheap hollow plastic syndrome.

Really miss the better days of the line, when they really were Masterpiece, now that is just a hollow term used to talk about figures affected by the cheap hollow plastic syndrome.

This may be an unpopular opinion of mine, but I prefer when the g1 masterpiece figures were less cartoon accurate.

Sure, they have more complex transformation to make them more toon accurate, but at the end of the day is it even worth it? With all the panel forming and swapping of parts, how much of the figure has vehicle parts actually from the vehicle mode.

The only guys I see that are able to strike a balance with the toon acurracy and transformation happen to be legends scale companies, best examples I can think of are the newage seekers, newage megs, and MagicSquare's Optimus prime

Granted for official masterpieces I like the new Meg's, but I just can't get behind the new OP or Bumblebee. I can't even bring myself to like hound, because I keep thinking " what would he have looked like if he was designed and released before the whole toon makeover of the mp's, like around the mp-10 time"

Despite having more complex transformations (which I love, especially when they have interesting, unique and innovative steps) they just aren't visually as interesting in bot mode for me anymore

Absolutely top not BadAssery. I don't usually do bots that didn't appear in the show; may make the exception for this one. This guy doesn't ruin the look to the collection. Plus, I need more Decepts anyway.

G1 Masterpiece are finally starting to be consistent. 1st size was all over the place, then astectics were a blend of "toy" and realism (which I still appreciate); after awhile, it started to feel like several "pockets" of different collections. After they went toon and some of the earlys were redone with + versions, its all coming together. Beast Wars look like their onscreen selves, Bayverse look like their onscreen selves, and now G1 finally get the treatment they deserve that isn't some damn model or actionfig; they look like their onscreen selves too.

    Simplified knee joint

No sound chip so new backpack part

    Masterpiece MP-49 Black Convoy
    Black is good
Some modeling, the part of the knee is less part that will drill into the slip, dig it directly, so that the gears will not be hard when the knee turns, it is also a way to solve the knee gear problem.

In addition, the new backpack parts to unplug the sound effects
    Fill up the sound hole
Switching switch and sound buttons have been changed
Since MP-44 has been playing for a long time, it's ok to transform
I feel like my knee is going smoothly
Since all new parts have been made, a simplified version of MP-44 ah ~

got my anime eport email to request it to be shipped just waiting on the shipping options :D

with removing the speaker and battery compartment do you think maybe they could of made the backpack even smaller or due to the transformation there would have been no way? i don't own mp44 why i'm asking

it does look more compact and better fit on mp49

fingers crossed they will release an improved optimus version without the sound clips and trailer , would rather buy that at the same price as mp49 than wait on a ko and the current ko is not good enough imho

Im completly with you. I miss the MP-10 days. I have MP-44 and MP-45 and the are both panelforming messes with nonstop paint chipping

Careful though there a whole group of Geewun toon purists on this forum who frown upon us

I think the black color makes it appear smaller; the whole "black makes you look slim" type of small. That's perfectly fine though!

Yeah, I think this guy is going in "Shockwave's lab". After years of collecting, there is an abundance of accessories that help Ratchet and Wheeljack feel "whole", 3P accessories included. After getting Rex (oversized Grimlock), I had Ops trailer, Ratchet, Sparkplug, and Wheels w/ accessories set up kind of like a mechanics group in a lab. I will be doing the same with Shockwave and Loudpedal (at some point; maybe tax season). I would like the Cybertron seekers with them, but not willong to pay the prices considering they have "Earth" forms for alt modes. Maybe if they get rereleased with Cybertrom forms or drop in price to OG carbot prices.

Seems like MP-49 is not painted at all, only molded plastic. That is a total bummer and major detriment to the toy. If that is the case my excitement for the HLJ shipments with hin inside went from 100 to 0 real quick.

Honestly I wish they would've just used better plastic (or diecast). When it works, the knee idea was actually of MP caliber (fortunately mine works perfect after the "fix"; did it fresh out the box just to avoid future headaches). The fact that the knee cover doesn't move until the 2nd bend was a innovation IMO, unlike both Hotrods, whos double knees have to be manually adjusted or straightened out. This was a missed opportunity to show they're going back to better materials vs just abandoning ship.

But hell, on the plus side, if I don't have to take this damn thing apart, I'm okay with that too!
