Is anyone having problems with the arms? My right side isn’t wanting to sit flush against the paneling like the left side. The left one will click when I place but the right one will not. I have looked at everything and moved the bird foot around and nothing is working. Any help?

Got the figure last night. Was a surprise arrival because I had preodered him off of Amazon a month ago, but wasn't expecting him until mid-August.

Great figure. Hips are a little loose, as is his right elbow at the pin, which is unfortunate. Tightening pinned joints is the biggest pain in the neck.

what do you do to tightened pinned joints? Future on a qtip? Or is there another way?

Pretty much. You need something that's very watery like Pledge and keep working it in the joint (keep moving the joint) and hope that enough goes inside.

The elbow is double jointed, though. One of the joints on our right elbow is loose but the other was not and able to hold his rocket pew pew up for all sorts of posing.

I did, but I quickly discovered this issue was caused by stressed plastic on the birds foot. This resulted in the bird's foot not sitting cleanly on its hinge and blocked the shoulder from clicking in place. I popped the foot off and now the shoulder is able to click in place.

My first impression is this figure is a mess.

Good I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

I was so hyped to get DD yesterday, but wow, why is he so much looser than the other leaders? Hopefully once I switch him between his modes I'll get more enamored, but wow, I'm just gonna time each elbow and see which side drops the rocket quicker!

This figure just feels strange. He reminds me of Generations Whirl and Roadbuster. He just feels off, like the design needed one more iteration. The robot mode is really loose. The proportions are strange. The blaster barely fits into his hand. The transformation has some unconventional steps (like the tabs in the knees??). The parts-forming backpack thing, which doesn't really add anything to any of the modes. That part also feels like the folding joint is backwards. And then you also have the extra guns (similar to Roadbuster and Whirl) that were not really needed.

I wouldn't say it's a bad figure.., there's definitely a fun factor to him, but he's just not that good.

I kinda agree with all your points. I definitely had to admit him to my TF Urgent Care Center upon getting him.

    In all, he needed:

    - Future polish (knee joints/arm swivels)
    - clear nail polish (the posts on the missiles, and the c-clip on his tail)
    - hip surgery (see previous post)

In all, all very simple procedures....but then again, "why do I have to?" Right?

I will say, tending to all those aforementioned things really ups the value and ease of play with this figure.

Lastly, I circumvent the frustrating leg transformation into bird mode, and use the rocket launcher mode leg set up instead. Way easier.

I love this figure but agree, you need to fix up some spots.

I have come to expect this on most of the mainlines released anyway. Rarely do I get a perfect copy. I will say though that as of late I lucked out with starscream, hoist, spinister, and ER Prime. They need no fixing.

when I got jetfire I had to Future the heck out of him. Couldn’t stand the hands always coming out of the peg and the chest coming apart when taking off the macross plate. He also always did the splits.

future is a pretty awesome thing if applied appropriately.

Can someone with the G1 figure do a side-by-side? Unless it's already been posted and I missed it...

I used many of the same techniques to improve my copy. I followed your ratchet fix tutorial on his hips. I'm embarassed to say what I used as a substitute for puddy. =) thanks!

    I think most everyone did.

I found a trick to getting Double Dealer to hold his giant gun, and I suspect it was intentional. If you look at the picture below, you need to line up the diagonal cut on the bottom of the upper arm with the diagonal cut on the top back of the lower arm, with the connector piece on a diagonal so that the two surfaces touch. It doesn't look like they're touching in that picture, because my camera sucks and one of the surfaces looks like a shadow. But they are right up against each other. This provides structural support that will keep the arm up at a 90 degree angle. I tried it with both arms, and it works. Without them being positioned exactly like this, the lower arms sag at the elbows.

    That's cool!

I think it's only a matter of time before a 3rd party company releases an improved missile/gun. The pegs are way too short and the design does not allow DD to hold it securely.

I too lost the QC lottery with my copy. One hip sits higher up than the other resulting in the leaning, and a pinned elbow is loose to the point it can't support the gun. This is my 3rd Earthrise figure that has had substandard QC. It's very frustrating.

I got a bad first impression with mine considering his legs decided to fall out of that very hard to get mushroom joint near his knees. I had to blow dry and push them back in. This is the first time I've seen mushroom pegs with a little nub on top.

He feels very fiddly and top heavy. Not sure if this is due to being a triple changer. Definitely took heavy cues with the g1 including how bulky hawk mode looks.

Anyones try using a chrome pen on his engine belly piece? I bet that would look pretty boss pegged onto his Power Masters.

I hope Nonnef does a kit with a pair of engine pieces that look more like the individual engine pieces on Knok and Skar.
