    Hi everyone,

I'm new and still learning the ropes.
Used to play with the old G1 toys back in the day as a kid.
Those were fun, they were easy to transform but never looked that great in robot mode.
These new transformers look so good in robot and alt mode but man their transformations are tough!

So far I have Toy World's Constructor (Devastator) and KO MP-36 Megatron.
I really like these two, they look amazing and are very poseable.
After transforming them my fingers are sore and I feel kinda put off on transforming them ever again.
Am I the only one feeling like this?
Do you guys like to transform these regularly or just leave them in your preferred mode (robot/alt).

For those that have Constructor and Megatron, how would you rate the difficulty in transforming compared to other transformers.

    Megatron?
He’s like a 8.5/10, not a difficult transformation but boy is he fiddly. So many parts and tabs!

    Toy world constructor?
Not as bad as Megs, but still very complex.
    6/10

Constructor is hard to untab and the joints are tight. If u dont work with your hands a lot it can make your fingers sore yes

Heck, I haven't even tried to transform my IT-01 (MP-36 KO).

I know what his gun looks like. No need to go through that mess.

Siege and Earthrise transformers are much easier to transform.

Megatron was a bit of a pain to transform but I only did it once. I think the majority of us just pick a mode for display and leave it like that. I know there is a few ppl that like to fiddle with certain ones but I dont think Megatron would fit in that category. How do you like the cell shaded version? Looks really nice in pics

The figures are way more complex than the G1 days, but most don't result in sore fingers. That's more a Toyworld Constructor thing. I can't speak to KO Megs if he also has similar issues...I have the original version, and while he has problems of his own, causing sore fingers isn't one of them.

I prefer fairly simple, fluid, and intuitive transformations.

Overly complex, difficult, or fiddly transforming figures tend to spend their time in one mode.

I mess around with fun figures far more often. Mastermind Creations (MMC) Reformatted have a lot of fun figures tho they arent typically G1, but rather IDW (which I dont know anything about).

I just like MMC’s playability and Im comfortable allowing my two youngest sons to play them under supervision.

Hasbro’s mainline (Siege & Earthrise) really is a good line for cost effective, fun figures.

    Thanks guys!
Cell shaded version is my favorite. It's the transformer that brought me back after ~35 yrs. The colors pop with the right lighting and look good on every mode.
The extra paint required for the cell shading made everything much stiffer and stuck. I had to sand down lots of pegs and grease up some joints. The extra work was worth it.

Thanks Megatronus27, I'll look into Mastermind Creations.
I would be nice to have a few that are actually fun to transform.

From the reviews I've seen the current KO is pretty much identical to MP-36. What got me sore on him was that pelvic area. Finally watched a transformation video where I learned to loosen the screw in that area and it helped out.

I’ve transformed MP-36 and Constructor several times. Constructor is quite simple, it’s Toyworld’s tolerances that can be maddening. But it’s not a bad figure to start with.

MP-36 is much higher on the challenge scale if you’re only diving into MP/3P, but he goes together smoothly once you are comfortable with so many moving parts.

The cell shaded ones do look really cool. Nice collection.

As for transformations, I enjoy difficult transformations as long as:
    1) It's not *needlessly* complicated. Even if it's difficult, use the fewest number of steps to get from form A to form B and make it look good, and not just to show off clever engineering.
    2) It's not tough just because of bad or amateur design, i.e. parts having to be flexed past one another or way more tabs than necessary.

Back when I collected non-MP figures, I would often transform my figures...like, the entire display...multiple times a day.

So it's been a bit of an adjustment for me with MPs. I've had Megatron sitting in gun mode for weeks, eventually I'll work my way towards having all my Decepticons in their alt modes, and then eventually I'll work my way back again.

You should collect Legends if you enjoy transforming back and forth. I regularly switch modes all the time, and unlike MPs, it’s a pleasure not a chore. My wife had a boring story about her work? Hang on, let me grab a carbot or two..

I think you'll like the Earthrise line, definitely look into them. Most 3rd party stuff is much more complicated. Of course it varies a lot, but as a baseline most 3rd party bots are in a 6/10 to 8/10 level of complexity ( MP Megatron 2.0 I'd say would be a 9/10).

You didn't specify what type of Transformers you're looking for, so I'll recommend a variety. If you're looking for good examples of 3rd party transformations that are simple but clever I'd recommend either Fansproject Smart Robin, or MMC Calidus. You can get a black Calidus repaint at Bigbadtoystore. For Smart Robin ( or it's repaint Combes Robin ) you'll have to buy second hand. The best places to look for them are Ebay, The sales section of this site ( called the Junkion Exchange ), or TFSource.

While you're looking for older toys at those sites keep an eye out for these:
    Animated Deluxe Prowl
    Animated Deluxe Rodimus Minor
    Generations Deluxe Warpath
Revenge of the Fallen Voyager Mindwipe
    Power Core Combiners Heavytread
    Prime Deluxe Wheeljack
Robots in Disguise (2015 line ) Warrior Thunderhoof
    Titans Return Deluxe Triggerhappy

Those are all fairly simple and really fun to transform. I did a quick check at the places I mentioned and a few of them are for sale for reasonable prices.

I also recommend buying some spudger tools spudger tools ( Like this ). They'll save you from having to use your fingernails to pry open parts, and they're made of soft material so they're less likely to scratch things.
