    Damn. That's really sad.

I never collected or played the TCG but I listened to all the WTF @ TCG podcast episodes that were released here on the site. I admired this game from afar and thought it was a fantastic addition to the media we could consume of this franchise.

It's a real shame to hear that it didn't produce the results that were expected, and that the pandemic had to put the final nail in the coffin.

It was a good run. At least most of the major characters were released and the battles can go on!

I don\'t know why they try things like this, nor why fans even bother to try it out. It\'s invariably clear where random offshoot merchandise and tie-ins end up.

Sad to hear, I still never learned how to play even though I was buying packing up to wave 3.

Yeah but at the same time we never got Piranacon despite art assets existing from back during the TFLegends game.

It's a bummer it's coming to an end, but I can understand why. It's a tough market to break in to.

RIP. On Vangelus's boostershred last night, people were just discussing an Earthrise and Kingdom wave. I guess it is just a dream now.

Generally this is the eventual fate of all card games which aren't MTG, Yu Gi Oh or Pokémon.

Raise your hand if you saw this coming a mile away

    *Raises Hand*

I was soooooooooooooo for this game at launch, then realized quickly that, like with many other TCG that I loved in the past............the $$ sink into new sets every few months with the inevitable nature of the game going the way of the dodo with no players in my area, I bounced out of the scene.

Sucks I was right, like others said -- at least we have the good artwork

Has there been any fanbase that continued a short-lived card game with fan-made cards? With skilled artists? And gatekeepers making sure any new abilities and gameplay mechanics aren't OP or game-breaking?

Photoshop Legends artwork and IDW panels for mockup cards?

This. So much this. TCGs are incredibly hard to break into.

Too much of consumerism in general today is built around building a braaaaaaand, rather than focusing on their core products and making them stellar.

For a worst case scenario, look at what Gibson did when they wanted to become a “lifestyle brand” rather than a guitar company. Yeesh.
