Now, that reminds me suddenly, wasn't there a brief scene in one of the cartoon episodes where someone addresses an off-model yellow crane - on an oil rig- as if it's Hook? Maybe this could be a reference to that, as well, given the particular Constructicon chosen.

I just like seeing old repaints retroactively made new characters which IDW have done a lot in recent years.

The screams of an intolerant fandom that can't wait to see if things will be explained or just want to leap to the worst conclusions is a sadly all too common occurrence.

Sometimes I forget the way this place works these days.

Do you really think people would be that petty? Are they going to lose their rag if the coneheads being on the nemesis isn't explained RIGHT NOW! Maybe they have to chase Powerglide off or something, or Dirge forgets his phone, or maybe it is never explained; come on the mystery is part of the fun.

Just re-read it again, still awesome!

Yeah they would. We know where the destination is, the original Marvel comics, and the fans would be quick to point out if the driver is going in completely the wrong direction to get there. Furman let us know that he is going to get to the destination, but we are just making a quick detour first. Half the fun of reading these prequel comics is demonstrating our knowledge of the original Marvel comics; pointing out what matches up to them, and what does not. #0 had some discrepancies with the details from original Man Of Iron story.

Current consensus is that he's going to reference his unused idea for the coneheads to fight the Maximals in his Beast Wars episodes. And I'll be perfectly okay with Beast Wars being part of the Marvel comics continuity.

Yeah, 90s was retro 10 years ago. But funny we went back again for 80s stuff everywhere. But then again, since the 2000s there was no memorable mainstream trend. Everything good was only in sub cultures.

This really is wonderful. I can read this over and over again. IDW2 is just forgetful across the board. I’ll never RE-read any of those. Zero desire.

It’s been so long since I’ve been able to enjoy Transformers fiction in such an unqualified way. Maybe since Devastation.

All of this praise. We're never getting out of the G1 loop at this rate.

When all's said and done, it appears that, by numbers of paying consumers, interest in G1 does still overshadow interest in the other eras. Probably unsurprising; for adults, this is essentially a nostalgic fandom, and the original generation is likely still the generation that the majority grew up with as children. Generation 2, Beast Wars, Armada and so on can interest, and can be greatly admired, but they're not the originals, they don't tick that particular little box in our hearts.

I was born in 1975 too and like you tf comics was my first first properly into comics. I did read some star wars Marvel but tfs was my first proper run.

I've just read this and I loved it. Typical furman typical of that era. A few continuity issues but he does his best to address these in the back pages. Really fun. Loved the shockwave ratbat conversation. Punch counterpunch as a narrator is cool too.

Would love a proper series with this team. Aai said I really enjoyed it

This was... nice. Like slipping on an old, comfortable pair of shoes. Memories came flooding back in their droves. This comic tickled my nostalgia button like nothing else.

Was it actually any good, though? Hmm. It was okay. Typical Furman. Not as bad as issue #0.

10/10 for the feels, 6/10 for the actual script.

Its definitely a nostalgia fest with the art and the fact its set pre marvel. Issue 1. It was better then 0 which wasn't as good as id hoped but it was better then galaxies 7 which I was hoping to enjoy more.

This was very much a furman script. Some nice touches throughout and while most would probably disagree id love an alternate continuity to run alongside the main book. The reason being it would be a nice alternative to the main book which is meandering too much and needs to get to the point quicker then it is.

Yesterday I noticed, I forgot to finish reading it :lol  I only read half of it and still liked it better than a whole issue of the other continuity that succeeded the better continuity that was written to death when Barber stepped down as editor, which he did a much better job than as a writer for transformers.

ANYWAY, what I really like about this is the retro art style, which reminds me of the times when I liked the style Marvel G1 comics, AND most importantly, something happens in one issue. Something interesting that makes me invested looking forward to the next issue.

I also downloaded all issues for Galaxy on my tablet the other day and have not yet finished the first issue, but also already read while 2 sessions. So far it's not yet that interesting. But I gotta make it through them, so that I can get to the issues that Milne drew :)

Issue 7 of galaxies was the first issue I genuinely wasn't impressed with but the first few I thought were very good.

I like the cast of this which I think greatly helps it and I love that punch counterpunch is telling the narrative as he did in issue 0. Its classic transformers
