Depends. I'm here for cool toys. Fans Toys' trend towards to more cartoon accuracy makes the toys less interesting and less dynamic. If the hypothetical Impactor is a deviation from the current rend and proves to an inventive piece, then I'd be game.

No, for two reasons: Firstly, even if we assume that the figure has none of the problems I've had with other FT releases - self-scratching paint and/or overly complicated and scary transformations and/or limited articulation, etc - I still don't like their aesthetic (which isn't unique to them, I don't like HasTak's current MP aesthetic either). The second is that I'm not a big fan of Impactor these days. To me he's suffered from 'Boba Fett Syndrome', I.E. the reason I liked him was that he was cool and mysterious and then because he was cool and mysterious he was overexposed to the point that to me he's no longer cool and certainly not mysterious any more.

Yeah, but I'm really looking forward to that new Disney + series where a world-weary Impactor chaperones a cute baby Optimus to protect him from Decepticon scientists. It's called "The Cybertronian."

Hmm, it seems quite a few of the no's are based around a dislike of FT rather than the character ...

I can only say I have four FT robots: Willis, Soar, Quakewave, Spotter. Zero issues.

Know who I could pulling this off? X-Transbots. Sounds crazy but hear me out. Their doing all the junkions, they're doing Quitisons (sp?) and they're even doing Primes girlfriend iirc so them trying an Impactor wouldn't be the longest stretch. Flipside is it'd be hit or miss but of late it's mostly been hits.

I mean hey, you have the good stuff before it went down hill. If people don’t like the company then of course they’d say no.

I don't buy new pieces or combiner members from them regularly but I do follow them routinely, and in terms of their more recent output, people have been happy with the likes of Goose, Roadking and Quietus, no?  Their bigger bots like Phoenix & Terminus were also big successes. I personally don't see them as having 'gone downhill'; if anything they're getting more prolific and experienced, even if side issues like Blur's shade of blue, the underwhelming Hoodlum & Arcee, or complex transformations muddy the water.

On the whole, I think FT's track record has been solid and I'm surprised by the amount of flak here, tbh. If the current percentages from day #1 don't shift a little, I hope this thread won't put dalianjj/FT off doing a character like Impactor in the future were they to see this!  Like I said, it seems to have become a vote on FT's recent performance rather than Impactor himself who with most of the TF collectors I know, remains a popular (albeit lesser known) Autobot.

But on the plus side, counting the current percentages (including the third option of depends on look) it's 17 in favour vs. 22 against, so near a 50/50 split of potential buyers.

I'm also pretty sure that if they'd done a finished render, it had both looks and looked great, those numbers would look quite different as to who was prepared to bite. No Autobot has a harpoon arm and colour scheme quite like Impactor. Epic badass who needs more love beyond the Seige line.

Why do you want a FT's Impactor and not a XTB's or DX9's for example?

No. Quietus scraped his own paint off.

FT's entire schtick is Sunbow characters and they've got a massive backlog of them to work through. If they ever did get around to non-Sunbow characters it'd be something like a decade off.

Of course this was a vote on FT as much as Impactor; The question was literally 'would you buy an FT Impactor', not 'would you buy an Impactor'. To not address the FT part of the question would have been negligent.

Your question directly asks if People would want it if its from FT. It’s like asking if people want an Apple computer and everyone says nah. I’m not going to say “I feel like this is becoming more about Apple than computers”. Of course it’s going to be about the company behind it. That’s just the nature of the question.

I chose an upper tier 3P company rather than one without an established reputation so the focus would hopefully be more on the character than qualms about the quality being shoddy etc.

But in hindsight knowing the boards, I should have known there was a risk the thread would get hung up on the track record of the company over the character and instead phrased the question: "Would you buy a well made 3P MP-Impactor? (e.g: FT, XTB)"

Alas, can't edit that part now and the horse has bolted, so them's the breaks!

I do wish more Impactor AND FT fans would see this instead of those indifferent to both, though! It can't be just the ten of us! :D

Fans Toys might be cool. Especially if they strike that balance between toon look but also still detailed. But I think this (and other (non transforming?) Marvel characters) would be more in X-Transbot's wheelhouse.

There are quite a few IDW Impactors out there now, but none of them really work as a 'true' Impactor for me

*shrugs* I grew up/knew the Marvel comics and am still a Marvel comics fan first and foremost ^^ (didn't watch the toon till after the movie... technically not till after the Japanese G1 series/around the time Machine Wars was on shelves)
There are a LOT of really awesome Comics characters with gaping holes in my collection that I would love to fill.
Something like Carnifex where it can work for G1 AND IDW is what I'd love to see and I do think it could overall work.

...Also Xaaron WHEN... (Although, thinking about it, given Xaaron was pretty tall, his helmet was based of Megatron's, and he canonically turned into a tank... MMC's Lost Light Megatron would be a pretty good base for a Xaaron)

I remember that thread, loved it ^^
